This is Obama's plan.
Problem is that 50% of that 95% don't have a tax liability.
So what does that mean?

Good line by McCain about Obama not running against Bush.
The more I look at it though, I think Americans are getting more and more used to the idea of voting for Obama. I don't see any game changing moments yet.

All I know is that I'm going to end up giving over half of my income to Obama to pay for his tax credits to those who don't even pay taxes. :(

If you're making over 250K I have no problem with you paying more than me. I think he keeps saying that the middle class taxes will not be raised at all. If you are above middle class you should pay more than middle class. Fork it over buddy.
Obama is smooth at trying to cover his butt. He's also the biggest liar to run for Prez since Bill Clinton, who by the way, was pretty good at covering his behind too.

Ok math majors, 10% of $250,000 is MORE than 10% of 100,000.
So in case you don't understand I'll explain. Even if they were paying the same percentage they would be paying more! They already pay a higher percentage meaning they pay even more on top of that. Nobama wants to make them pay for everything so idiots who vote for him can sit and be lazy and contribute to the collapse of the US. They being stupid will vote for him again.

Going back to Ayers. When McCain said Obama launched his career in Ayers living room, Obama said "that's not true."
So, is this not true or just word games Obama is playing? Was it actually the family room or was it not exactly a "launch"?

I am against abortion unless life threatening
but as a pro abortion argument what I don't like is that it's all about the woman's decision. Though I'm a woman, I think the man has a right in the decision as well. It takes two to make a baby and they should both have rights and if they can't agree, the baby is born and the parent that wants it can raise them
As an anti abortion person... I believe that all life is sacred and if they don't want the baby.. there are people such as my self that can't have a baby of their own and have adopted and would love to adopt

By going more offensive, he would've risked alienating more of the independents/undecideds who apparently don't care about this issue.
But if he loses his base by being tougher then it's over anyway.
He was in a tough position, but since he's talked about it the last few weeks, then he should've been ready to deal with it tonight. But instead he looked like he wished it wasn't brought up.
Overall I thought McCain did good tonight. But, he was weak on the Ayers issue and it all may be too little too late.

Our last two presidents we elected men with almost no long term experience, both being governors. I was really hoping for a president with long term experience this time around... John McCain has a lifetime of government service and I feel has the experience we need. Obama has only a few yrs of experience and we really haven't gotten to see if we can trust him with the power to run this country and that scares me.

Your last sentence stumbles onto something. In the era of television, physical appearance is at least as important as a candidate's substance and the effectiveness with which he expresses that substance.
Ask Ron Paul.
For this reason, McCain's people should've fought tooth and nail against split screens; when the two candidate are placed side by side, Obama is the more presidential looking...by a substantial margin.

It's my honest opinion.
McCain appeared agitated, eager to provoke a mistake, and smugly incredulous when Obama skillfully parried his various attacks. The Ayers and Acorn exchange was a particularly weak point for McCain tonight.
Obama, on the other hand, was self-possessed, calm, and confident which is very reassuring to people in these turbulent times.
Much of McCain's strategy has revolved around establishing the unsuitability of Obama for the office whether it's his inexperience of his questionable associations. An articulate, poised, and unflappable performance by Obama in these debates has thrown a serious monkey wrench into that strategy.

Well, this debate, to me, was pretty damn boring. I know the answers before they say them. That means I'm a political nerd I guess. :) All the focus groups and actual phone polling done are showing Obama won this one by a bigger margin than the others. So, he'll probably get a bounce out of it like he did the others and by the time that bounce fades, like they always do, we'll be that much closer to the election.
And on the 29th, he'll have 30 minutes of unchallenged messaging on all the major networks.

I think one point where Obama just scores every single time is healthcare. He seems VERY comfortable talking about it and always looks right at the camera and tells people exactly what his plan proposes.
Every time healthcare is brought up in a debate, I know Obama is going to knock it out of the park. I think debating Hillary Clinton over and over again has helped him immensely in areas like that.

For those who missed the episode that is being hooplaed here as brilliant moment for McCain, judge for yourself:
MCCAIN: Yes. Senator Obama, I am not President Bush. If you wanted to run against President Bush, you should have run four years ago. I'm going to give a new direction to this economy in this country.
OBAMA: So the fact of the matter is that if I occasionally have mistaken your policies for George Bush's policies, it's because on the core economic issues that matter to the American people, on tax policy, on energy policy, on spending priorities, you have been a vigorous supporter of President Bush.
Now, you've shown independence -- commendable independence, on some key issues like torture, for example, and I give you enormous credit for that. But when it comes to economic policies, essentially what you're proposing is eight more years of the same thing. And it hasn't worked.
And I think the American people understand it hasn't worked. We need to move in a new direction.
Sasquatch
10-15-2008, 11:48 PM
And another exchange:
MCCAIN: Yes, real quick. Mr. Ayers, I don't care about an old washed-up terrorist. But as Senator Clinton said in her debates with you, we need to know the full extent of that relationship.
We need to know the full extent of Senator Obama's relationship with ACORN, who is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy. The same front outfit organization that your campaign gave $832,000 for "lighting and site selection." So all of these things need to be examined, of course.
SCHIEFFER: All right. I'm going to let you respond and we'll extend this for a moment.
OBAMA: Bob, I think it's going to be important to just -- I'll respond to these two particular allegations that Senator McCain has made and that have gotten a lot of attention.
In fact, Mr. Ayers has become the centerpiece of Senator McCain's campaign over the last two or three weeks. This has been their primary focus. So let's get the record straight. Bill Ayers is a professor of education in Chicago.
Forty years ago, when I was 8 years old, he engaged in despicable acts with a radical domestic group. I have roundly condemned those acts. Ten years ago he served and I served on a school reform board that was funded by one of Ronald Reagan's former ambassadors and close friends, Mr. Annenberg.
Other members on that board were the presidents of the University of Illinois, the president of Northwestern University, who happens to be a Republican, the president of The Chicago Tribune, a Republican- leaning newspaper.
Mr. Ayers is not involved in my campaign. He has never been involved in this campaign. And he will not advise me in the White House. So that's Mr. Ayers.
Now, with respect to ACORN, ACORN is a community organization. Apparently what they've done is they were paying people to go out and register folks, and apparently some of the people who were out there didn't really register people, they just filled out a bunch of names.
It had nothing to do with us. We were not involved. The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs.
Now, the reason I think that it's important to just get these facts out is because the allegation that Senator McCain has continually made is that somehow my associations are troubling.
Let me tell you who I associate with. On economic policy, I associate with Warren Buffett and former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker. If I'm interested in figuring out my foreign policy, I associate myself with my running mate, Joe Biden or with Dick Lugar, the Republican ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, or General Jim Jones, the former supreme allied commander of NATO.
Those are the people, Democrats and Republicans, who have shaped my ideas and who will be surrounding me in the White House. And I think the fact that this has become such an important part of your campaign, Senator McCain, says more about your campaign than it says about me.
MCCAIN: Well, again, while you were on the board of the Woods Foundation, you and Mr. Ayers, together, you sent $230,000 to ACORN. So -- and you launched your political campaign in Mr. Ayers' living room.
OBAMA: That's absolutely not true.
MCCAIN: And the facts are facts and records are records.
OBAMA: And that's not the facts.
MCCAIN: And it's not the fact -- it's not the fact that Senator Obama chooses to associate with a guy who in 2001 said that he wished he had have bombed more, and he had a long association with him. It's the fact that all the -- all of the details need to be known about Senator Obama's relationship with them and with ACORN and the American people will make a judgment.
And my campaign is about getting this economy back on track, about creating jobs, about a brighter future for America. And that's what my campaign is about and I'm not going to raise taxes the way Senator Obama wants to raise taxes in a tough economy. And that's really what this campaign is going to be about.

Obama handled that great.
Ayers and Acorn...are NOT going to win this election for McCain...no matter how much people think they are or want them too.

It was a good hit by McCain...But Obama hit him right back with the if I occasionally have mistaken your policies for George Bush's policies...
If people think that's a game changer...they are going to be sorely disappointed.
If that's the best McCain's got...
He's done.
Political jujitsu at it's very best: turn your opponents attack against him. In this instance use McCain's clever remark to continue hammering away on the economy.

I so agree, I wonder what all the Obama haters are going to do
Oh, I'll just mimic this guy:
This is surely small of me, but if Obama wins, I plan on giving him as much of a chance as the Democrats gave George Bush. I will gleefully forward every paranoid anti-Obama rumor that I see, along with YouTube footage of his verbal missteps. I will laugh and email heinous anti-Obama photoshop jobs, and maybe even learn photoshop myself to create some. I’ll buy anti-Obama books, and maybe even a “Not My President” t-shirt. I’m sure that the mainstream bookstores won’t carry them, but I’ll be on the lookout for anti-Obama calendars and stuff like that. I will not wish America harm, and if the country is hurt (economically, militarily, or diplomatically) I will truly mourn. But i will also take some solace that it occurred under Obama’s watch, and will find every reason to blame him personally and fan the flames.
Obama’s thuggish behavior thus far in this election cycle – squashing free speech, declaring any criticism of his policies to be “racist” (a word that happily carries little weight with sensible people these days), associating with the likes of Ayers, Wright, and ACORN - suggests that I won’t have to scrape for reasons to really viscerally dislike Obama and his administration. And even if he wins, his campaign’s “get out the vote fraud” activities are enough to provide people like me with a large degree of “plausible deniability” as to whether he is actually legitimately the president.
I’ve seen a President that I am generally-inclined to like get crapped on for eight years, and I’ve seen McCain and Palin (honorable people both, despite policy differences I may have with them) get crapped on through this election season. If the Democrats think that a President Obama is going to get some sort of honeymoon from the folks who didn’t vote for him, as a wise man once said: heh.

I'm pleased because he did well.
What do want me to do tell you he did well...but hey I'm displeased?
McCain had his moments...but no where near...not even close enough to being the game changer that he needed.
And that pleases me too.
McCain did a few good things tonight, for one he had Obama on his heels defending himself all night.
The best message he got across to the American people, imo was:
You cannot raise taxes on anybody with the economy the way it is. He pointed out that the last time it was tried it caused further crisis.
What Obama wants impose is a huge welfare system. Basically what he wants to do is take money from people who are doing what is their right as an American, and give it to people who simply are not capitalizing on it. That is welfare.
Obabma wants to kill the American dream.
I own my business and I don't know a small business, with the exception of the local donut shop or mom and pop gas station, that doesn't make over $250,000. My company brings in a whole lot more than $250,000, and I am far from rich, yet he wants to tax me more than 35-40% that I'm already being dinged for? That is just stupid. In an economy like we have at the moment, tax hikes are going to send unemployment numbers way up and further destroy the already battered economy.

Once again Obama uses the occasion to his advantage by cleverly insinuating that McCain as out of touch with voters' #1 concern, the economy.
In fact, Mr. Ayers has become the centerpiece of Senator McCain's campaign over the last two or three weeks. This has been their primary focus.

I do want to just point out that autism, for example, or other special needs will require some additional funding, if we're going to get serious in terms of research. That is something that every family that advocates on behalf of disabled children talk about.
And if we have an across-the-board spending freeze, we're not going to be able to do it. That's an example of, I think, the kind of use of the scalpel that we want to make sure that we're funding some of those programs.

Sorry that mentality has been killing this country for a long time now, anyone who is complaining about not being able to make money in this country is stupid there are jobs and opportunities every where you just have to be willing to put in some effort.
Im all for helping people get an education and out of a tough spot but socialism breeds laziness, that has been proven over and over.
There were Republican's on that board too...and I bet they would be surprised to know that they would be disqualified just because they worked with him.
They never answer to that

There's a difference in working on an education board with him and plotting terrorist attacks.
That's why.

An education board that is to help shape and mold the minds of our future... that scares me
I don't think they would be surprised but I do think they are stupid. It's not like Ayers wasn't a well known domestic terrorist back then. Whether he turned his life around or not, his past was that of a bomber and if they served with him knowing that, shame on them

My husband works for concrete company, he is concrete truck driver, works 60-80 hrs a week. I wouldn't call that lazy.

No, I'd rather see a person work their way out of the mess they are in, then see my hard earned money bail them out.
That is welfare, imo. The welfare mentality that you have displayed in your post is what is wrong with this country. People sit back and expect someone else to lend them a hand. Get a job and work your way out of the hole yourself. Don't depend on me, because I worked my arse off to get where I am. I didn't sit around and cry, "Whoa is me", I made it happen for myself. Sue me if I don't see it as the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

I recommend reading Nickel and Dimed: On how (Not) to get by in America. Sometimes, even holding 2 jobs isn't enough for a single women with a start-up fund, what makes you think that is enough for a single woman with two kids and (if lucky) a high school diploma?
IF we had a minimum living wage, I would be okay with what you are proposing, but unfortunately, our minimum wage is often not cutting it for many many people.

Yeah, I guess it was just working on education board, I mean that's what Obama said, so it has to be true.
I guess having a function at Ayers home was just going over education board items? I guess it had nothing to do with a election event? I mean, Obama says it didn't.
