Am I the only one who's getting sick and tired about every headline talking about "Henson needs to play now" and stuff like that?

I mean, I understand it's important and relevant, but I think it's a bit much.

How about some of the Dallas writers delving a bit further into the players that aren't "buying into Parcells' system?" How about delving into the differences between this year's defense and the defense from the last 3 years and why this year's defense isn't working?

I doubt we'll actually ever get some interesting writers with thought provoking analysis. I for one am fed up with stuff like "the defense isn't playing that well". No kidding.

Argh..

Sorry, I just had to vent.

That, plus I'd love to see them focus on something that might provide real results. Everyone knows Henson is going to play. Wasting bandwith or ink about when is a waste of time, IMO.

I actually e-mailed Galloway about this. Last year, every other column he wrote was about how we should have signed Delhomme. Now, it's Start Henson. Yawn. I asked him why not write a column urging Jerry to bring in Scott Pioli. If, as so many experts (on this board & among sports writers) agree, he & Bill are doing a poor job with personnel, why not fork out some dollars & hire the guy as GM? Jerry already swallowed his pride a bit to bring in Bill. Swallow a bit more & hire Pioli. (Galloway brushed it off, btw.)

But why not? Let's push the media on this. Don't bore us about Henson--sooner or later, it's a done deal. (Then, of course, we'll be subjected to extensive--& instant--appraisals on whether he's the franchise QB.) Let's urge them to make noise about something different.

Here's a hint.... Don't like it, DON'T READ IT!!!

Problem solved, glad I could help.

BTW Rich, why do you put your name on the end of your posts, you do realize we didn't forget who wrote the post in the 10 seconds it took us to scan it, right?

I totally agree, Rich.

But you know what I think they'll say? I think they'll claim that the "average reader" doesn't want to read about Xs and Os and schemes and details, and that they need to dumb things down for these "average fans". I think they completely underestimate the intelligence of football fans, especially of their local audience in Texas, where football is like a religion and even high school games can draw tens of thousands of people.

And then of course there's good old fashioned laziness. It's a lot easier to write a story on a Henson soundbite than it is to dig in and write an article of substance.

So how exactly do you know if you will like something without reading it?

Writers can say what they want, if they are wrong no one cares and they are not held accountable so why bother.

Ummm, I know this is prob a hard concept for you to grasp Eric, but if you're beat-down by articles about when will Henson start, and the headline's... "Henson era to begin, when?", chances are strong you won't like it!!

Kinda the same approach I take when I see your name on a post. :p

don't judge a book by it's cover.....Unless it has a picture of a slackjawed loser named cowpoke on the cover.

Just some advice, the Archie Bunker role is old. Nobody thinks you are funny constantly attacking others. Give it a rest.

It's all about selling newspapers. They're gonna write what they and their editors think will sell the most.

"Play Henson now" is a hot topic right now.

Whenever a new personnel guy is the hot topic, then they'll write about that.

It's a very simple concept in a capitalist society.

That's why I come to these forums. Instead of reading the same ole lame articles in the DMN and other places, I come here to read the same ole idiots cry about it. So then I can cry about them crying about it, and so on.

FUN, EH!?!

So does that mean you're gonna take down your old favorite poster?

You know, the one you have of "Kid DYNO-MITE" Jimmy J.J. Walker from Good Times , and hang mine up?

Fair Warning though pardner, the only I have left of me, is a nude. Try and imagine Dom DeLoise naked, w/o the beard. Still want it?

:p

Usually when I read posts, I just scan down the comments without ever glancing to see who wrote them. When I find something that makes me think or irritates me or whatever, I want to know who wrote it and I have to zoom back up to the top of the post to see who wrote it and I find that inconvenient. I appreciate others who sign their posts at the bottom (especially long posts) because it saves me time - and I have an old, slow computer.

I can't answer for anyone but me; however, the reason I do it is so if someone reading my post wants to know who wrote this tripe, they won't have to look far to find the guilty party.

I could see if it was a couple of writers here and there. But, EVERY writer writes the same thing. I don't read them now because I just take one glance at the headline and I know what's going to be talked about. But now I don't have ANY writers I read.

BTW Rich, why do you put your name on the end of your posts, you do realize we didn't forget who wrote the post in the 10 seconds it took us to scan it, right?

Force of habit. I've been doing it since I've been on the net. I even do it in my emails at work or to friends I've known since childhood.

Force of habit. I've been doing it since I've been on the net.

A lot of people who began posting years ago in newsgroups, e-mail groups and other "primitive" message boards have/had that habit. In newsgroups, your e-mail address is shown instead of a username, so unless your e-mail address is the same as your name/username (or if you used a bogus e-mail address to fight spammers), you have to sign your post for people to know who wrote it. And those types of groups/boards don't always put the original poster's name when you quote their post. So unless the posts are signed, it's difficult to know who wrote what, especially when a long string of posts and responses gets quoted.

I used to sign all of my posts for the same reason, but a few jerks kept bothering me about it, so I stopped doing it on boards like this and only do it when it's still necessary.

I will not change my beliefs or habits due to the bullies of the internet. Therefore, I remain steadfast in actions to provide my name at the bottom of each post. :D
