He not only screwed up originally but he overcompensated the other way. I was not aware that western Pennsylvania was more patriotic than the rest of the country.
I guess it's part of the "Real America" that I keep hearing about.

I think he was trying to avoid the divisive real vs fake America, real PA, real VA rhetoric his campaign has been spewing. And then he made this huge blunder and just blurted out anything to win the crowd back.
"Real America" ? I feel bad that this is the best they can do... Its very counter productive.
