I want to drop Columbo, Spears, Roy Williams, Hurd (although I like his personality and special teams), Tank.
Re-sign Canty, Burnett.
Was looking at a bunch of free agents, we won't have much if any money left over, but we should be able to get one MAYBE two good vets to plug up some holes for us.
Oddball F/A if we could get for cheap if he wants to get a ring like Zach Thomas is La'Roi Glover, use him as a backup D.E. and put him in on passing downs to get a good pass rush form our D-lineman.
a longshot would be James Farrior, another vet but would help our I.L.B. core bigtime.
Some other players we could have a shot at for not that much money and maybe one or two could cost us, but most are old and with our new stadium and a chance at a ring, I'm sure some players would certainly throw us a discount.
O.T. Jon Runyan 6;-7 330 plug him next to Leonard Davis and just MAUL PEOPLE in the runnin game.
O.T. Vernon Carey, good replacement for Columbo and a BIG BODY at 6'-5 350 to once again have a dominating right side of our line.
Safeties I would like to get to pair up with Hamlin are
Jamie Sharper
Brian dawkins
Mike Brown
Lawyer Milloy
Other then trying to get ONE of these playwrs above and POSSIBLY two if we get a good discount, re-sign Canty and Burnett (shouldn't cost too much) and then draft a huge N.T. and a GUARD with our top 2 picks.

Why re-sign Burnett? Makes no sense on either side really. He's not good enough to be a starter for us apperently but he has enough talent to be a starting WSLB for someone. I doubt he's satisfied being a reserve.
I'd like to see Canty return, but everyone else can go imo. Colombo isn't bad, but won't be worth the money. Tank has done little, Roy "75% of the earth is covered by water, the rest was left open by me" Williams should be cut and Brad Johnosn should retire. Hurd is a RFA, so I'd bring him back, couldn't hurt, maybe if he has a good camp we can trade him.
I'd resign Zach to a similar deal, as he signed this season. And I'd resign Henry to a low signing bonus deal to play safety, so if it doesn't work out he can be cut.

You just said, he's good enough to be a starter possibly somewhere else, so if he wants to sign for a good price, why wouldn't we re-sign him?
Don't underestimate the new stadiu aaying on a superbowl favortie team and not having to move your family to anther state as very good reasons to give a discount on your countract.
Remember Keith Davis left cause he wanted to start and ought he was a starter in this league, only to be cut by the Dolphins and not even kept as a special teamer, lucky for us.
Roy "75% of the earth is covered by water, the rest was left open by me"
Now that's funny!
Williams should be cut and Brad Johnosn should retire. Hurd is a RFA, so I'd bring him back, couldn't hurt, maybe if he has a good camp we can trade him.
Everyone loves hurd, he's a real favorite in the locker room, and I met him a ton of times, really really nice guy too, he's a good reciver and an assett on the special teams.

Yeah I agree cause Henry's C.B. days are DONE!

you're a cowboys fans and SERIOUSLY have to ask that question?
Have you seen Roy Williams on field play DETERIORATE each year since he's been in the league and the past 3 seasons he couldnt' even cover Moose Johnston out of the backfield, plus it would be cheaper to cut Roy and sign someone else since he's due a lot next season and his productioon is not worth nowhere near what we're paying him.
You have to be the only cowboys player on the planet who still thinsk Roy is a good safety for us and isn't a HUGE and I mean HUGE liability in pass coverage for us.

Not only are ALL of them better, but MUCH BETTER, hate to break the news, but Roy Williams SUCKS BALLS!
I seriously can't believe I found the ONLY cowboys fan onthe planet to defend Roys PATHETIC plays he's had over the past 3 years for us, he was the mian reason we went out and got Hamlin and the MAIN REASON we signed Hamlin to a long term deal cause EVERYONE but you know his days in Dallas are DONE!

Just unrealistic. Someone will offer him starter money. If he wants to sign with us as a back-up making back-up money, that's fine, but while he's here, he'll never be nothing more than a niche player, which I doubt is OK with him.

not unrealistic, why would someone offer him starter money?
He's never been a starter and often injured, it's no guarantee he'll get offered starter money.
I think we can re-sign him for a decent dicounted price, if someone signs him to starter money which I dont' think they will, so be it, good riddance, but I think he's gonna wanna stay here and win a superbowl and not have to move his family, don't underestimate those factors, players a LOT of times takeess to keep their kids in the same school and not have to up and leave thier home and move to another state and possibly a non superbowl team.

It was an exxagerration on my end, but you thinking Roy Williams is a better safety yhen Ken Hamlin and Brian Dawkins is PRETTY CLOSE to the above scenario's!
Ihow old are you by the way, if you're like 17 years old I could understand it, but if you are older then 21 and have HONESTLY watched every cowboys game the past 3 years, I dont' know how for the LIFE OF ME yn say Roy williams is anything but a LIABILITY when he's out on the field for us, cause that's exsactly what he's been the past 3 years, so much so thatevery cowboys fan wanted him cut this PAST Pre-season but the cap hit would be too high, but I can guarantee you he's not a cowboy next year.

Once again the cap hit with RW wasn't to high that we couldn't cut him that's a common misconception with a lot of fans like yourself. Also he isn't a liability. Is he the best cover safety no. However we also didn't do him any favors put him 1 on 1 against the best TE's in the NFL. Yes Hamlin isn't better than RW neither is Dawkins. I've seen the games and the numbers also prove that fact. Hamlin misses as much tackles and gets burned if not more than RW but doesn't get crucified becuse he's not RW.
I'm 21 years old I turn 22 in a couple of days. I think we just have to agree to disagree because there's no way you can make a case that Hamlin or Dawkins is better than RW and have me agree with you I don't know how many people will agree with you on that actually.

Dawkins sucks now. He cant cover. He cant tackle. He doesnt create turnovers. He is old, often injured, has lost several steps. He is the Anthony Henry of safeties.
Sharper is getting burnt a lot this year too. I have watched 4 Minnesota games this year. Sharper has been very unimpressive.
Lawyer Milloy is still in the league? Wow....that is news to me.
Mike Brown, not interested. He just doesn't do anything for me. I would rather have Roy.
You are way out there man. Honestly, I read your posts, and I swear you are munchin on shrooms and swiss. If Roy is garbage, why replace him with someone else's garbage? Instead, let's draft a couple of safeties with 2 of our 12 picks....I definitely want Rashad Johnson from Alabama, just hope he lasts till our 2nd round pick. I would have to look at some of my previous mocks and draft sites to see another safety who I like a lot, besides Pierre Banks of Appalachian St.

NOT TRUE AT ALL, it would of been like a 7 million dollar cap hit had we cut him.
Also he isn't a liability. Is he the best cover safety no. However we also didn't do him any favors put him 1 on 1 against the best TE's in the NFL.
UM, that's what eVERY S.S. in the league has to do, cover opposing teams T.E. 1 on 1, if he can't cover the T.E.'s, we need to replace him, and it's not just T.E.'s he can't even cover as a deep safety ina cover 2 either lttting all the receivers blow right by him on deep routes, REMEMBER SANTANA MOSS against us last year coming back wit 2 deep balls when we were up by like 13 with like 4 mintues to go??
BOTH DEEP T.D.'s were WILLIAMS FAULT.
He's a HUGE and I mean HUGE LIABILITY in the pass defense, so much so that his days of being a good NFL safety are all but OVER.
Yes Hamlin isn't better than RW neither is Dawkins.
I admit I haven't watched Dawkins as much as I would of lked, but I KNWO FOR A FACT since both are on the same team that HAmlin is 100 TIMES better of a safety then Roy Williams, hence the reason we signed him long term and are gonna cut RW this off-season.
I've seen the games and the numbers also prove that fact. Hamlin misses as much tackles and gets burned if not more than RW but doesn't get crucified becuse he's not RW.
WHAT????
I can't recall ANY ONE SPECIFIC play where I was like OH MAN, Hamlin BLEW that coverage, but I can roll off about 30 plays that Roy has KILLED US in the passing gmae, HELL, if not single handedly losing the skins game last year giving up TWO Long T.D.'s DEEP to Moss, just think about him costing us the game against the Giants, well not t game, but it certainly didn't do us any favors when he SINGLE HANDEDLY let Eli drive down the field right before halftime in under a minute to go to give the Giants some sort of life and points on the board.
Roy was giving up HUGE and I mean HUGE pass plays very week, I seriously can't recall ONE HUGE pasplay Halin screwed up, I'm sure he has got beat, but I certainly can't recall lie WOW Hamlin screwed that one up, but I BVIVIDLY remember about 30 plays like that from RW the past couple years.

I kind of had you pegged for a young kid, nothing wrong with that, but my guess is you are still going by his NAME and his NAME and DRAFT slot he was taken and think he's good because of that, cause the facts are he's beomces such a huge liability that the coachign staff had to try and figure out a new lineup on passing downs that takes Roy Williams off the field, that should tell you how much his play has declined over the past 3 years.
I tell you what, we'll take a poll in the main areand see what the rest of the cowboys fans think, I'd be SHOCKED if anyone other then you thinks RW is better then Hamlin.
