I caught this movie yesterday and really enjoyed it.


I saw Valkyrie the day before. Good story that I had heard about before, but not a lot of detail. I could have done without Tom Cruise. Not a fan of his and I think any actor could have handled his character, but the movie was interesting.

I want to see Valkyrie. Big fan of most WWII movies. However just seeing TC wearing that eye patch makes me laugh.

I will probably still get it when it comes out on dvd though.

Slumdog was great. Except for the song and dance at the credits. It ends in this big climax, then they cut to people singing and dancing bizarre Indian music that has nothing to do with the movie or anything. They just got everyone from the movie and made a music video and attached it, abruptly, to the end.

I can't take anything Tom Cruise does seriously.

...and that sucks, because I'm a history buff, and love WWII era pieces.

It's sad because I was a huge Tom Cruise fan. Like the rest of America, I liked Tom Cruise before he spoke. He was always photographed but kept his personal views to himself and I liked that because I felt his on-screen characters were not tainted with his personal life. I liked him when he was with Nicole Kidman and then when he got divorced and had that argument with Matt Lauer, I realized that Cruise was just nuts. In a way, I can understand how Tom felt; he wanted to liberate himself and be himself instead of this contained persona just to sell movies but in doing so, he essentially ended his career as the biggest box office star. I can deal with huge egos and faux intellectualism that all Hollywood stars possess but I can't deal with religous extremism/cult-like bizarre behavior. This is also why I don't like Mel Gibson any longer. I can't take Mel or Tom seriously. Those guys are just freaks

Looking forward to this one - -Danny Boyle has done a few really great films (Shallow Grave and Trainspotting), some really crap ones (A life less ordinary), and some mediocre ones that could have been really good (The Beach).

I saw Slumdog Millionaire on Christmas Eve. I really enjoyed it. Great Movie.

I will not go see Tom Cruise with his eyepatch acting like a German. He is the most overated actor of our generation.

I saw Marley and Me Christmas day. I knew I was in trouble when waiting in line inside the theatre for the next movie to begin, a big burly guy came out with tears streaming down his face. He saw somebody he knew who asked him if he was ok, He said he had been crying for the past 30 minutes because of the movie. I thought Oh NO!!! It was good.

I came home and hugged my dog. If you have a dog and love your dog, you will cry if you see this movie.

Cruise was good in the 80s then went totally crazy when he joined Scientology. Now he's just a nutcase.

Slumdog was great. Another good movie by Danny. He's got 3 great movies I really like now: Slumdog, 28 days later and trainspotting.

I've seen the wrestler and benjamin button now and think slumdog could win best picture.

I think the end dance was a throwback to bollywood movies where they'll just at any moment bust out into song and dance. I think it was included as an omage to the indian movie culture.

According to the local Blockbuster stores around here they will have it to rent starting Tuesday. I don't know if it's one of those exclusive things they have because I'll be buying it on Blu-Ray and sites like Amazon don't have any information on a release date.

Of course knowing Blockbuster the 24th was probably the initial release date for the movie since it was supposed to be straight to DVD and they just never changed it in their system. They are stupid like that.

THAT ship set sail decades ago, especially because they're mostly a bunch of commie uber-lib psychotic walking contradictions. They got "theirs", now they want every socialistic and "fair" thing in the world for everyone else.........

No, my problem with Tom Cruise is that HE CAN'T ACT his way out of a paper bag. A great, or even good actor.................you forget while watching the movie that it's a William Hurt or a Dustin Hoffman or a Tom Hanks up there on the screen. You're actually watching the character they've digested and are portraying.

Every since "Top Gun", Cruise has been the same, smart ***, fresh and sassy guy. Every movie since, it's been Top Gun as a NASCAR driver. Or Top Gun as a bartender, Top Gun shooting pool, Top Gun impersonating a Mission Impossible agent, Top Gun as a Vampire, Top Gun as a Ninja, Top Gun goes west.................and on and on and on. Every movie, every part, same guy.

You never forget that it's STILL Tom Cruise up there on the screen. The "Top Gun" guy, only dressed differently and now participating in another endeavor.

DiNero used to be a great actor, but he made the mistake of taking on too many Mafia-type parts, and now he's type-cast and predictable. Jack Nicholson, the same thing. He was a little brilliant in the beginning of his career, but the last twenty years, it's always the guy sitting court-side at a Laker game.

But back to Tom Cruise..............I haven't seen a Tom Cruise movie since "The Color of Money", and the only reason I even spent a few bucks on that was because I shoot a lot of pool, and Paul Newman CAN act.........

but I forgot how good of an actor Tom Cruise was, he used to be a pretty good actor, but now he's kind of stiff and just says his lines basically

Most folks, right off the bat, would just pigeon-hole him as another "type-cast" like actor. You know "he's always the same" rap.

He gets most of that from his dark, Western roles, and the "Dirty Harry" series.

But I've seen most everything he's ever done, and he could "change up" with the best of them. The "Every Which but Loose" movies, very funny and a big departure for him. Also, "Kelly's Hero's" and "Where Eagles Dare", two great WW11 flicks where he adjusts him game again. He changed again for "Escape from Alcatraz", and had me convinced in "Million Dollar Baby" that he actually was that old and bitter boxing trainer.

I don't know if he's a Marlon Brando or Sir Lawrence Olivier, but guys like Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves ain't even in Eastwood's league........

Speaking as someone from the "desi" culture, that's exactly what it was, even though it was goofy, and just plain bad.

Besides that, the movie was brilliant. It should win the Oscar.

I'm biased, because I have a tattoo of Batman on my leg. But THAT WAS a once in a lifetime part and portrayal by the guy....................

Because, I've had diarrhea 3 or 4 times, so I don't have to go through it another 20+ times to understand how miserable it is......................

I've been to 3 or 4 funerals, so I don't have to DIE to understand that I want no part of it...............
