Ok...
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that has a Intel Proset Wireless card.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN N130G that has a "integrated PRO/Wireless 3915ABG wireless LAN that's compatible with 802.11b/g networks"
I tried installing the same Intel Proset Wireless driver on the Sony but it wasnt compatible for my Sony model.
My question is... can I swap the Dell Intel Proset Wireless card out to the Sony Vaio(remove the pro/Wireless 3925ABG?
thanks

They say it's integrated but it's really just a card inside, usually under the keyboard, of the machine. If the Sony has a slot for that type of card you "should" be able to install it.

Thank you.
I have since been searching and found that PROset/Wireless software v10.5 will work on both so I may not have to swap cards.
Developing....

Ok so I found the driver that should work on both... but when I try and run the driver(I am thinking its only for Dell)... its gives me the message "error - the installer does not support installation on this computer"
Is that just a bug screen or will it just not work from Dell to Sony EVEN THOUGH it is an INTEL item?

It may only work with a Dell. That's all I ever work with. Dell does that with a lot of equipment and software. I can't take my Dell XP cd to a non Dell and install XP. You get a this isn't a Dell computer message. :laugh2:

I hear ya. Figured as much.
THEN I found a Sony Vaio proset wireless driver and it just wasnt for my model.
I was trying to get a more modern driver to run my vaio wireless.... they are close in age... only a few year old.
Message: This update is not intended for your computer model.
that was version 11.1.1
I was looking for 10.5 which from what I read online... should work... just cant find it
More........
I was going on this...
"The Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software v10.5 works in conjunction with Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connection hardware to connect your notebook or desktop computer to a wireless LAN."
I have a Sony with "Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connection hardware"
I want to run "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software v10.5"

Then it's not the cd that comes with a Dell computer. If I try it I get a message this software can only be installed on a Dell computer.

Might have luck finding the driver here. You have to register for it but it should still be free.
I have had luck finding some drivers here that I could not find elsewhere.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. I was actually making this more difficult than it was. I went to Intel and searched around and found a driver and it worked
