You actually don't want to be getting a lot of money back in a refund.

All that means is that you overpaid the government to begin with and gave them an interest-free loan.

I'm much happier to find out that I've underpaid the government... as long as it isn't so much that I've incurred a fine.

Too often people view a refund as the government giving them money, when in reality, they're just giving back money they never should have taken from you in the first place.

My CPA says the same thing. A good return is no return. Why let uncle sam run the country on your dime..
