Carmina Burana O Fortuna is my favorite piece of this genre.
It's fairly recognizable, and has been in many movies. The way it builds up is almost unbearable...but in a very emotionally stirring way.

I've been dealing with this type of "epic" music for some video projects..here are a few I've found:
Conan the Barbarian soundtrack
The Contender nico theme
Arival to Earth from The Transformers score
Pirates of the Carabean soundtrack
Gladiator
Children of Dune soundtrack
Across the Mountains from the Alexander soundtrack
Coronation from the Stardust soundtrack
300 sountrack
Not all these are "gothic" like in your example but these all have the "epic" feeling. Conan has some good gothic tracks.

That one from Mohicans and the theme from Requiem for a Dream are classics.

Nice. I'll defiantly check out that Conan soundtrack. Those gothic tracks are what I'm looking for.
