you've ever seen a live concert with?

i'm watching an off channel right now playing the old "live aid" show and i got all nostaligic for the times when seeing a live show meant you were there live. with other people.

next to you and all.

these days to think of 5 people playing for a couple of hundred thousand at once - does it ever happen anymore? what does an average concert pull compared to back then before the internet virtualized everything? maybe it's me cause i don't get my happy hiney out there more often than i do. but seeing that show, i just wondered how many people were around at a live rock concert (country ok i suppose) for the biggest crowd you ever saw a live show with?

The biggest that I have ever been to was the International Jazz Festial in New Orleans. Tons of people and all kinds of music...all different kinds of bands, three days of nothing but music...and people.

It was awhile back before the storm...

It was in their State Fairground gounds.

I bought a ticket for the whole 3 days, but I only went once.

I went to the Mile High Music Festival last year and both Tom Petty and Dave Matthews (the closing acts for each night) had 60,000+

saw the Amnesty International Concert at the LA Coliseum - I'd guess about 90,000 people (it was a sell out and they had seating on the field and about 80% of the seats regularly sold for football). The venue normally seats over 90,000

Saw the Stones at the Cotton Bowl back in '81 (I think) lot of people. '82 Texas Jam at the Dome, place was packed except for Joan Jett running most of us outside to get our heads right for Hagar, Santana and Journey.

I saw the Rolling Stones at the Cotton Bowl at some point in the 90s. I can't remember the exact year. That was the most people at a concert I've been to.

After that? Probably a Dave Matthews Band concert a few years back.

The biggest crowd for any concert I ever attended came at DC's Capital Center, the one-time home of the Washington Wizards... that would be about 20,000 people, the group was Loggins & Messina... I actually learned to fingerpick at that concert, they had this huge Telescreen, and when L&M did their acoustic set ("Danny's Song", "House at Pooh Corner" and such) the Telescreen went to a split screen, one of them focusing on Jimmy Messina's hands on his guitar... I watched that screen intently, and couldn't wait to get home and try out what I saw...

I guess there were almost that many people at the Bob Seger concert I attended at the Roanoke Civic Center...

But the greatest concert I ever attended had somewhat less than 20,000 people, perhaps not even half of that... that would be a Jackson Browne concert at Merriwether Post Pavilion, again outside of DC... it was an outdoor concert, and I learned later that two of the songs off his "Running On Empty" album (his best album ever) were recorded there... I learned that when I bought the album, and read the liner notes... he did all of the songs from that album that night, but I guess the sound quality wasn't acceptable for him on the other tracks... but the title song, and the closer ("The Load Out/Stay") were taken from the concert I attended...

I haven't been to a lot of concerts but I'd guess probably 17 or 18k for Clapton.

largest i've personally been to is 20-30k for the family values tour is 07 that was a great show

seen on tv/video is download fest they get like 70-80k crazy people

I've been to Jazz Fest 6 times, 3 of those from 86-88 when I was stationed in N.O. The most recent was 07. They're a great time and average 50-55,000 per day.

2001, the Festival celebrated Louis Armstrong’s centennial, and the total attendance eclipsed 650,000, shattering records for virtually every day of the Heritage Fair, including the all-time single-day attendance record of 160,000.

That was Nov 89. We had seats smack in the middle of the endzone, about as far from the stage as you could get, but boy was it a good concert. I'd bet there were 65-75,000 there?

I did a little looking and remembering and it was the Voodoo Lounge Tour that I went to. They came through Dallas in Nov 1994. They had a huge snake as the stage and it breathed fire.

I also forgot about a pretty packed house at Reunion Arena for ZZ Top. They put on a really good show as well.

Sarstock concert in T.O. in 2003. Don't know the exact number, but pretty sure it was in the hundreds of thousands. The Stones headlined, but AC/DC blew everyone away. Rush also put on a good show as did Justin Timberlake (I know, I know...)

edit: just googled it, and it says around 400-500,000. Toronto was also playing around with the idea of legalizing it at that time, so it was also one of the more peaceful crowd gatherings...
