oh man there were a lot (edited it to contain the list of bands that were there when i was at Tinley park)
Main Stage
* Korn (excelent)
* Evanescence ( was stealing beer for this one)
* Atreyu (egh)
* Flyleaf (surprisingly good for a christian band)
* Hellyeah (Except 7/29) (pantera + mudvayne = win imb)
* Trivium (supposedly todays metallica, i didn't find them that special)
Second Stage
* Droid (amazing)
* Five Finger Death Punch (Imo todays Metallica pure heavy fast past metal oh man was it nice to loose my hearing to this band)
* Twin Method (linkin park type band ((ihate linkin park)) but they were actually good and from the UK and they took me and my cousin back stage to meet them and the two bands above they are kick arse imo)

I was really into Christian rock back when I was in high school, and I went to a bunch of those concerts... I remember going to a sort of Christian "Woodstock" back in the 80s... an all weekend long outdoor festival.

My first "mainstream" concert was Depeche Mode... I think back in 1990.

I don't know if any of that qualifies as "rock" :D.

Either ZZ Top or Judas Priest here in Amarillo around 1982, somewhere bout then. I would have been 14 or so.

Don't really remember which was first. Probably ZZ, since they are from around here they played here all the time but the first one I remember very well was Priest, Screaming for Vengance. Man, that was a great concert.

They were awesome! One of my friends tried to get on the field at the Metallica/GNR concert by jumping from the stands with arms spread wide. It was so awesome to watch for about two seconds until he landed and broke his leg (missed the entire show).

Good news is that some of the guys on the field handed the rest of us their ticket stubs so we just walked right in, what an intense experience!

The concert took place only a few months after i came to the US and i really wasn't familiar with most of the bands, except Ziggy. Family members and friends who had been in the US for a while took me along so i can experience it.

The show was not too bad if i remember it correctly, especially since it was my first time to US concerts, although i didn't know what to make of Iggy Pop at the time:confused::D.

I really enjoyed Ziggy though and went backstage to meet him and get his autograph. My brother in-law played the keyboards for him back then.

That must have been great. I always wanted to see the original Van Halen with DLR as the Front man, but it was never meant to be, I guess.I saw the original VH with DLR when they opened up for Black Sabbath at Reunion in Dallas. In spite of the fact that DLR was really drunk, they put on a better show than Sabbath.

Back in 1978 I went to visit a friend of mine and he says: "hey you gotta check this out." He went into his brothers room and came back with this vinyl of VH's debut LP, puts it on the turn table and says: "man, doesn't this sound like they could be the biggest band of the 1980's?"

I thought yeah maybe.

Turns out he was dead on.

As history revealed, VH was one of the top ten biggest acts of the 80's.

Never been to a rock concert.

But I have been to a Clay Aiken Concert. Does that count?

That was a joke.
No.

KISS
Dallas Texas

went with my older brother in 1982

First concert I went to without a "Chaperone" was Whitesnake (my most favorite rock band of all time) in 1987 in Dallas

The 2 best were "Heart" in 1988, and in 1990 I saw ACDC in Sydney (that concert was free!)

Nicccceee. Love both bands.

My first was in Redondo Beach when I saw Circle Jerks and Black Flag in 84 during a skate session that included Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero and a young Tony Hawk.

That's unreal. I lived in San Clemente and got hooked on skateboarding and punk rock at an early age. My parents were freaking out when they learned that my favorite band was named "Suicidal Tendencies".

Moving to VA was a bit of a culture shock when I was a teenager. I had to drive to Virginia Beach to find a big skate scene...but living in in NOVA let me get to DC all the time. The punk was very different than West coast stuff, but I loved ti just as much. The 80's and 90's DC and Boston hardcore scenes were crazy. Only thing I've seen close to it since is Gainesville, FL. That scene is amazing.

First concert ever was Nirvana at Trees in Deep Ellum in 91' I think ?

First big concert was Ozzy and Alice in Chains at the Starplex in Dallas.
I remember that Lain Staley broke his leg before the concert so they had a big couch for him to sit on and sing.

I've seen Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Ozzy, Danzig, etc... . But the best concert I ever experienced was ...

Fleetwood Mac, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, and Orleans at the Starplex in 95', it was just a cool, mellow, rockin' concert.

Lmao...I remember listening to that when I was like 8 years old. Those guys still rock. I got to hang out with them after the Warped Tour at RFK in '99. Hung out with Dropkick Murphys too...their bus driver pretended to be in the band and gave it to one of the girls that was with us....funnier than hell when we told her. :D
