Kudos to Obama from Fox.

Just saw a segment (on Fox) on Obama's comments on the pirate hostage situation. Obama handled the situation well and when completed gave full credit to the parties involved, leaving his name out of it. On of the announcers, whose brother was a Navy seal, was very happy on how Obama was gracious and did not seek out his to praise himself on the situation.

I didn't see the presidents comments myself, but from the sounds of it he handled himself in a very presidential manner.

Looks like he did. However it also looks like some idiots in the state department or the white house were also interfering and that is why he had to repeat his orders authorizing the use of all force necessary. That is not exactly surprising though.


Here is a true story from just before we went into Grenada:

About 36 hrs before we went in when Reagan gave the authority to the Admrial commanding what would become southcom later on to go in to protect our students and stabilize the situation, the state department was informed at the same time. One idiot, or maybe worse, the undersecretary for something or another (never did get the full info there) was so worried about what the russians would think that he informed the RUssian AMbassador in DC. From everything I have eever found out this was totally unauthorized. What happened: of course the Ambassador called the Kremlin. Who then made a call to the russian embassy in Havanna. Within 12 hrs the cuban forces on Grenada knew we were coming and started getting ready. That is one of the reasons (besides a fair number of screwups on our side) that that whole operation was a big mess.

Yeah, guess the real point for me was the Fox analyst applauding him. Some people here who don't watch Fox might say this never happens.
