In my address bar there are a ton of address that have been typed in or visited. I was wondering how to clear them out. I've done the "clear Private Data thing but it doesn't clear the address bar, just the history.

Any idea how to do that?

I have 3.0.10

Click on View, Bookmarks and uncheck bookmark toolbar

It's not the bookmark toolbar. That's fine. It's where you type in the www address' that is filled up. I clicked the view but I don't see anything that would make that change.

I don't have it on hand, but I'm pretty sure it has do with History preferences. As in remember 0 last sites visited.

Uh oh, Cajun's been a bad boy!

Get in the preferences -> privacy

There's a section called Private Data, under there you'll see a button labeled "settings", this is where you can set what is cleared by clicking "clear private data"

Check the box next to "Browsing History", click okay and then click clear now.

From now on whenever you click "Clear Private Data", it'll also clear the browsing history.

LOL.

I knew someone would say that. I just don't like when I type www into the bar, it drops down with a ton of stuff. I feel compelled to look through nit and find something where I could have just typed the whole thing.

EDIT: I've done all the above and it's all still there. Very Annoying.

You can also type out in regular english on the bar if you're looking for a site you visited recently, for example you can type "Dallas Cowboys Forum" and it'll bring up http://www. or whatever, so it can be useful, but yeah, usually just a pain in the bottom.

Clear private data -> browsing history.

Then restart browser.

That gets history out. The bar will still access your bookmarks.

Look for the "autofill" feature.

On the work computer and don't have firefox running on it but if you find the autofill settings, it will give you the option of turning it off.

In internet explorer it is under

Internet tools > content

Tools > Options > Privacy tab > Private Data section

Check the box marked "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox"

Then, click the "Settings" button.

Make sure Saved Form and Search history is checked.

That should cover it.

Make sure the Browsing History box is checked. So that way all you have to do is "Clear Private Data" from the Tools menu from now on and it will wipe your history bar. (you will likely have to restart firefox for this to take effect)

You get it figured out?

I'm telling ya, its the "autocomplete" you want to adjust.

Nope, all the proper boxes aren't checked in Clear Private Data.

Nope, all the proper boxes aren't checked in Clear Private Data.

But then he has to clear that history every time he watches Pr0n. If he just turns autocomplete off, he doesn't need to worry about it poping up after every visit to a site.
