The Mrs wants to see the big hole in the ground. We plan on renting a car and seeing a couple of shows. Any suggestions or recommendations? We're not big gamblers, but we'll drop some coin in the slots. suggestions regarding restaurants, shows, deals etc, are welcome..

Mystere at Treasure Island was a really cool show, not a bad seat in the house. :p:

You can rent a ferrari for a couple hours to drive to Hoover damn. Its not ridiculously expensive either. You'll see the cars for rent on the strip. You might want to check into it. It always looked fun.
In Ceasars Palace, they have a humongous saltwater tank that divers go in and feed the fish. Its very impressive.

Same here.
I just got back from Vegas for a wedding.
We had the bachelore party at the rhino.. lol
So many drinks. Open bars at all the wedding stuff. Very, very little sleep.
I had a blast but 4 days of that place was way to much.
That town is crazy. If I had kids and everything there is no way i'd take my family.

I am not much into the Vegas shows, except magic. I think Cris Angel performs at the Luxor.
The Mirage is fun. One of my very favorite Casino's.
I like going to the Imax theater at Caesar's Palace. You swear your seat is moving not just the image on the screen.
The buffet at Circus Circus is a must do. Hard to explain why other than inexpensive and more food than you can imagine.
Hoover dam on the way to the Grand Canyon and the Grand Canyon North Rim. I think the Sky Walk is on the West end of the Canyon. I have not been there yet.

I agree with the others --- Hoover Dam is a must see. We didn't do the whole tour thing, but my cousins did and they really enjoyed it, but they are 14 and 11. I was amazed at all the construction going on OVER the damn. The bridge that is connecting Arizona to Nevada (I think that is right) is HUGE. From my cousin's trip it looks to be about half way done from when I went in 08. We saw Elton John this time around and it was amazing. Have fun.

saw the Hoover Dam when I went to Vegas... it was awesome
however, why waste money to see a damn hole in the ground when you can go to a beach or something exponentially more bad***

Much appreciated, Guys. I checked out the Skywalk setup, but I'm a little concerned. You pay $29.95 to get into the facility and then pay another $29.95 to go out on the Skywalk, but you're not allowed to take your camera. You can pay another $20-30 each to have your picture taken by the resident professional photographer. I checked some of the tours as well and there's no end to what you can spend. I think I'll rent a car and drive out to the North Rim. Has anybody here done that?

Gallagher's Steak House @ New York, New York is a must. You're with the wife, so have dinner at the Eiffel Tower @ The Paris as well. It rotates around and there's a great view of The Bellagio's water show at night.
Don't forget to take her to The Venetian for an afternoon of shopping and lunch.
Avoid "downtown" Vegas and stay on the strip. Downtown is overrated. All you'll get is fried twinkies and dollar Margaritas.
The MGM Grand is pretty cool. The poker games there are the best, and they got the live tigers you can check out real close. Take the underground tram that connects a dozen hotel/casino's whenever possible. Vegas will wear you out with the walking from joint to joint.
Finally, if your going now, it's gonna' be real hot. It's the desert out there. I go every year the first week of March for the NASCAR race, and take my wife every November for the shows. Both times are perfect temperature. I would NEVER go to Vegas anytime between May and September, so good luck. It's gonna' be REALLY hot. "Dry" hot or not, it's still HOT! Luckily, everything that happens in Vegas happens INDOORS. So stay indoors.
Shows? Go to www.lasvegas.com, because it varies from week to week, month to month. Check our Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the races too, it's a ton of fun. Rita Rudner is a lock at NY/NY. Elton John shows up from time to time, as does Dennis Miller. Every show is pretty cool though, so get yourself to at least a couple.
Other than that, don't forget that Vegas lives off of the drunk gambler. If you gamble, you drink for free.........................for a reason! They'll roll out the red carpet for you as long as you're losing your money. Avoid that trap. If you gamble, gamble sober. Don't drink. Every casino has either a Krispy Kreme or a Starbucks. Drink THAT!!
Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas..............unless you get the Clap or Herpes......................That, you have to deal with when you come home.............................................. .

Thanks for the info. Apparently , we're staying at Planet Hollywood, which is near the Bellagio. I have been to Vegas before, but not for a few years. I mentioned the heat to my wife, but she been freezing her tush off all winter, so she wants some heat. The underground tram looks like a great idea. If the slots come through, I might share with everyone here. ;)
