(joined in progress)

I'm gonna start Vollers there instead of Tucker.

Hugh Douglas? Gives them depth at that position. He's a good backup.

mumblemumble. Vollers has been practicing right & left all year. I wanted to solidify what Rogers was doing. Tucker's was definitely performance-related. Didn't play well in the game.

Will just go with 6 linebackers.

Is that because you have little recourse at right guard? I have some recourse there. There are some players who can play it.

Philly is very pass-oriented. Seems committed to the passing game when looking at their stats. 60-40 pass ratio. A lot of West Coast elements in his offense. Very strong hybrid of West Coast philosophy--more deep balls.

Lehr mumblemumble performance related? Yes. You only get 8 & it's basically him or Walter.

Does Gurode frustrate you or is he one of those you're convinced about? I don't want to get into it right now. He didn't play well. He's gonna have to get better. This is his second year of playing.

Have there been any players who've been better than what you expected? Witten, definitely.

That's all? I don't want to get into personalities today. There have been some who have improved, but that's for a better time.

(mic placement is really bad so I'm missing a bunch of questions--fill in, anyone)

He said that Keith Davis will get playing time at Safety. It is about time that they give him a look.

Man, this 2002 draft isn't looking too hot. Roy Williams is looking mortal. Gurode may lose his starting job. Antonio Bryants has been traded. Derek Ross has been cut.

There's not much left of that draft ... pretty sad.

Good stuff KM. Thanks!!

Seems Gurode and Tucker are close to losing starting jobs.
The one good thing about his VT fixation is he will get the OL fixed as opposed to blaming their inability to block on say Quincy Carter.

I am hopeful Peterman comes back healthy and can hold down RG next year. I am also ready to see Davis at FS. He is an awesome special teams tackler and he just has less suckitude than the other 2 options--if you can call them options.

Rogers is clearly a LT. He is extremely agile and should be considered a long term LT. We can move Flo to RT where he would face less speed rushers. I know they keep him left to run block with LA but that has been a problem in pass protection. When Flo cvame out he fell to round 2 because he has a hearing problem(deaf in right ear I believe) and that made many feel he could only play RT. That may be his best position.

Philly's defense has improved--how much due to linebacker changes & to other reasons? As season winds down, the weather changes to your advantage. Very windy game against Green Bay. Overall tho, they've just improved. Very confident & it translates to both sides of the ball, not just the marquee guys.

Keith Davis? I have a pretty good idea of what he can do. Mike & I have been talking for a couple of weeks.

Are there positions beside QB that can benefit from Europe? Yes, some positions. It's basically a 3-wide receiver offense so nicklebacks get a lot of play. Could be a good proving ground for TE. For linemen to benefit from Europe they need a certain type of mentality--training facilities aren't perfect so they've got to do a little extra. Need to go with attitude of trying to do things & accomplish things. Not easy to come right back to NFL TC--takes a strong mentality to accomplish that. A lazy guy won't make it.

Can someone come back & start right away? (very long pause) Not impossible. Mo Carthon played 40 games one year--came right from USFL to my training camp.

Player development program--how important is that for what you do? We meet 8 times during the season. I make the rookie players meet with them on 8 different Mondays. They cover a varying degree of subjects--general living standards, acclimation to NFL & some things unique to that, things to be wary of, try to act in advisory capacity on economic end, that type of thing.
Do players listen? I think you see the smarter ones are very attentive to that.

That's it

(There were some discussions about Davis, but I missed the questions so the answer didn't make sense. If those of you who were listening caught it, please add it in because it seemed interesting.)

He said that Davis plays the same safety spot as Roy Williams, so if Davis plays, Roy has to come off the field.

Why? "Because that's the position Davis knows right now."

I guess the question I have is why take Roy off the field instead of Scott. Why not just move Roy back to the SS spot?

:banghead:
how ridiculous....I can see Davis only knowing one spot, but doesn't Roy know both by now??? What happened to the spots being interchangeable...I knew that was a load of BS that simply meant we were stuck with two SS's and no FS.

No Roy plays SS. Parcells said Roy has been playing SS all season, which he has if you watch the tape.

There's another fan misconception flushed down the toilet.

Davis played FS in training camp. If SS is the position that Davis "knows", it likely means Davis aint the sharpest knife in the drawer, which explains why its taken him this long to see the field and it certainly explains his strip club incident last year.

Today is the day line up changes were to be announced. It sounded like Vollers for Tucker. We knew Shanle for Singleton. And Davis will get some time. Who else was mentioned?

If Roy Williams comes off the field for Keith Davis.. i mean sheesh, wasn't Davis undrafted? You should trade Williams, if that's the case.

Parcells is really confusing me here lately.. he said Williams has been playing SS, i thought Davis was a FS? Why does he only know SS when he's a freaking FS?

How can Williams be playing SS.. he's listed at FS on every depth chart I see. And good luck finding draft information on Keith, maybe i'm just stupid or google isn't working.

this is getting ridiculous------

put the best players on the field---

try keith davis at fs- what do we have to lose at this point- let him prove to you that he cant play-

put bradie james in to start and finish-so he can get in the flow of the game-let him prove to you that he cant play

put shanle/thornton - let them prove to you that they cant play

If they cant play it will evident in the game- then we can move on and determine our needs for the offseason-

There isnt a legitmate reason to not play the young guys at this point-
crowder, cooper, shanle, thornton, james, davis etc

the veterans have not played good all year long so what are you doing parcells- Greg Ellis and laroi glover are the only players that have showed up and played well in each game- thats it

I think someone hit the nail on the head earlier...

Me thinks that poor Keith Davis has a train of thoughts that are no more than a string of empties.

yeah, so I guess it makes sense that Davis hasn't got playing time this year.

Either he is really damn stupid or Zimmer just doesn't know what FS and SS mean

the evidence points at it being the latter

and actually "damn stupid" and "Zimmer" go hand in hand...almost synonomous

someone maybe has them on tape, but I think if you go back to the end of the 2002 season Davis and RW were on the field together some...now maybe Davis was playing nickel safety, but if he can play a nickel safety role he should be able to play a FS type role
