View Full Version : Game not on in Houston

Fox 26 is not running the Cowboys game at noon. Seems they have chosen to run the AZ/ST. L game at 3. And this has nothing to do with the Texans playing at noon--they are on the road so no blackout rules apply here.
I guess I'm off to a sportsbar to I can hear it from the Philly fans while I simply try to watch the game. :iggles:

Well, I get to watch the Texans over here, and there is no noon game on Fox. We have to wait until 3PM to watch the Saints/Bucs game.
I'll be picking up the game on AM 560 on my static filled radio.

Don't you just love that they won't even broadcast the game on local radio anymore. :banghead:

Maybe you should count yourself a lucky one. This is going to be a massacre since the eagles need the win to secure home field. Going to get ugly real quick..at least that is how i feel. Hate to say it and live it that is for sure.

Thats funny :lmao2:
Unless they screw you over by selling you defective hardware that they won't replace until after the season and Super Bowl is over and still charge you for the Sunday Ticket service after not seeing a single game with it
Happened to me 2 yrs ago. They admit the hardware was defective, but that the service is non-refundable... they are STILL trying to get the money from me and never will

I have the ticket, but those that don't have the ticket but have DIRECTv can get the games for the rest of the season for $39, I think.

No thank you! Money is not the issue, but I refuse to mount one of those dishes on my house to appease the NFL. There needs to be a way to provide the ticket via cable. I will not go out and purchase hardware for the Ticket.

Hopefully when the contract runs out. Right now Direct TV has exclusive rights.. which really bites. I really enjoyed the Sunday Ticket when I was in Seahawk and 49er territory, but when I came back home and had that issue happen, I won't deal with Direct TV in any way again.
Being in the heart of Texas has it's perks like never missing a Cowboys game. I have two of each network channels - DFW and Abilene stations. Even when the Cowboys and Houston play at the same time, the networks show different games, so the Cowboys are always on.
In February a new Cable company is coming in and they have the Dallas Cowboys channel so next season is going to be great here. :D

I have season tix, and the schedule has worked out when they've been on the road that this has never been an issue.
The thing that gives me the arse, is that Fox CAN run Dallas if they wanted. The Texans are on the road, not at home, so there is no blackout issues to deal with. It is like Fox 26 is just giving the middle finger to the Cowboys fans in Houston. Which is a shock, because they damn near have better ratings than the Texans for Sunday games.
Anyway, I'm off to BW3's....

God I hate Houston. I have to move back there in April and I am dreading it.
What gets me is still getting blacked out when the texans play at home.If I am paying for all the games it sucks.

Can you not take them to small claims court? Because you KNOW it's going to be on your credit record from now till h3ll freezes over. What are your options?

I've checked into all my options. The contract said that it was non refundable and there is no mention of a refund due to defective equipment. It's an AS IS deal. I even tried going through the NFL Sunday Ticket office and they told me the same thing. They aren't responsible for the defective hardware, Direct TV is and they weren't refunding Direct TV for their equipment problems. In turn Direct TV said that if the NFL wouldn't refund to them, Direct TV wasn't going to refund to me... exact words were "We can't recoup the money from the NFL, so we will not take a hit by giving you credit for it. We aren't in business to lose money and won't on this - read your contract." I fought them for 6 mos on it and got absolutely nowhere

If I were to get Sunday Ticket next year in Houston, will any of the game be blacked out on that?
Any game when the texans are at home, the blackout applies same as broadcast tv.the only way around it is getting a waiver for out of area local channels or a pirate card[ilegall]

I have dishnetwork and this past summer I found on their website the waiver for distant networks even though I get the local Houston channels on dish. All the local stations denied me except FOX26. So I am paying 1.50 extra a month for 8403 KDFW. I could also get the other fox distant stations if I wanted.:D

Speedkilz, can you explain in a little more detail how this works? you can send it to my pm if you want to. I don't really want to pay for the sunday ticket, because I am really only interested in the Cowboys.

Yeah, I would like to know also. I will do anything to get the Cowboys in Houston. How does the waiver system work exactly? Do you have to apply and get approved for some reason?

Speedkilz, can you explain in a little more detail how this works? you can send it to my pm if you want to. I don't really want to pay for the sunday ticket, because I am really only interested in the Cowboys. If you have dish you need to start an online account at dishnetwork.com, if you don't already; in account home you click on ADD PROGRAMMING, then click LOCAL CHANNELS. There you can request a waiver for DISTANT NETWORKS. I was refused by all my local affilates(its up to them, not dish) except for FOX. I don't know if I got it since I'm far enough out from Houston or if it was just an error, I'm sure this is a Your Milege MAY Vary kind of thing. Anyone with directv should be able to do this on their site. You can also request this over the phone, but they may have to send you papers, I don't know.
EDIT/ The stations that turned me down, did so within a few days, but FOX took about a month. I actually had 8403 two weeks not knowing it because I forgot to keep checking the website and didn't have that channel listed on my tvguide.

With Sunday Ticket I never get a blacked out Cowboy game. Either they show it on local TV and it's blacked out on Sunday Ticket or it's blacked out on the local and you watch it on Sunday Ticket. So you never miss a Cowboys game its on one or the other.
