I had to go to Michaels with my wife yesterday, which is the most wretched experience in all of shoppingdom to me. The utter boredom from being in there just drains me, but I always go without complaint because she's a Saint and deserves my full attention when she needs an opinion on things.

Does anyone else have that one store that they dread going into?

Wallyworld pretty much blows...yet I seem to find myself there about once every two weeks. I like Target because all of the hot twenty-somethin babes shop there.

I find pretty much anything found in a mall unbearable as well.

"Bob's Big House of Manure." The smell is indescribable.

Real answer: Kinko's (always a madhouse) or auto dealerships.

Joanne Fabrics or any fabric store. Bathworks, those places that sell nothing but soap, shampoo, and perfume. Dollar stores. Walmart makes me want to vomit. Most of the customers look like they are still in their pajamas and just woke up.

Aldi makes me laugh. I get a kick out of the many customers who still dress like they are in the 1970's and still have the 1970's haircuts. You can even still see some mullets there if you hang around long enough.

Michaels is awful.

I hate going into Walmart, the stores are usually packed and there are never enough cashiers. It is hard to not go though, their food prices are literally half that of most super markets on a lot of items I purchase regularly.

I hate shopping period, It really doesn't matter where. The only exception for me is Lowes or Home Depot.

If i have to narrow it down, i would have to say the grocery store, walmart and anywhere in the mall. I just feel my energy draining as soon as i step foot in a store and i get cranky real quick.

When I was a kid, Michaels was cool. They had comic books, a bunch of off-the-wall toys, and CRAPTONS of model kits. Even a big Radio Controlled section (and I mean the hardcore R/C stuff, the kits that were several hundered bucks). My mom would drag me around but I was happy as a clam when we went to Michaels.

Now its utter crap. The model kit section is like two shelves of generic car kits, the R/C stuff is gone, and so is anything else fun. Now it looks like an educational supplies store with an extensive collection of fake plants.

The absolute WORST store for any guy to get dragged into is the $%$damnned Yankee Candle Company, or Teavana.

Krausers, Quick Check and the like.
Filthy little dumps that apparently are not held to any kind of sanitation laws.

I find it incredible that people buy lunch at these places.
I made the mistake of buying a sandwich from one about 15 years ago and was rewarded with a dead fly in my sandwich. Since then they've only gotten filthier.

Bath & Body Works.

Walls and tables lined with soaps and shampoos. I hate it when my wife drags me into that place. We go in and do not come out for a half-hour or more. Some people love the place. I get that, but just why the heck should ANYONE stay inside that place for over five minutes tops? It's just soaps and shampoos, for pete's sakes. Pick one and leave already, sheesh!

Uhmm, leave my shop alone. I love bath and body works. So many cool smellie smells you can use. Brown sugar vanilla is not the same as regular vanilla.

I hate walmart and almost any grocery store. I've actually left a full basket of food in an aisle at Walmart and walked out the door it was so much going on one time.

If I'm just going to one or two stores, I don't mind the mall. Mall walking is not my thing.

Bath & Body Works
Garden Ridge
Anna's Linens
Bed Bath & Beyond

Luckily, my wife knows I hate going to these places, but we still go into Bath & Body Works fairly often. I just sort of check my brain at the door and follow her around and smell what she asks me to smell. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes and after about two sniffs of that stuff, I can't tell a difference anymore.

I promise to leave your shop alone IF you tell me that your shopping visits there do not last forEVer, like over 15-30 minutes. :) If not, I'm going to :explode: it!

Or early in the morning before 9am. I like Walmart and do 90% of my food shopping there, but I really prefer to go as early as possible.

I avoid Walmart like the plague. Michaels I hate too, but more because parking is such a ***** at the one near my house. There are about 50 parking spots and 51 different freaking stores located next to this damn store. When the wife wants to go, she goes alone!

We actually do make a trip to Walmart at least once a year. Prior to Thanksgiving, the wife and I go buy bunches of different clothing that we donate to charity each year. As you said, it's the cheapest. The more we can buy with our charity budget, the better!

That's cool.

If I had more money I would definitely go to Target. You don't see as many idiots and lowlifes there.

My personal policy for parking anywhere is to do so as far away from the building(s) as possible. I don't mind walking x-amount of feet to get inside. What tees me off is coming back to my vehicle and finding dents, etc. The dumbest people in the world are those who can't: a) drive properly in a parking lot; b) open the doors of their vehicles before first checking what they might hit; and c) put away a used shopping cart.
