One crow vs. one cat (not declawed)...

A housecat. There's not much a crow can do.

my folks' cat is terrified of squirrels. couple of years ago he caught one and took half its tail off it but it gave him a nasty bite on the face that he had to go the vet to have treated. its funny watching him chase them now, the squirrels will come running slowly down the garden to the tree that has the squirrel feeder and all the bird feeders with the cat stalking them until he gets within pouncing distance at which point the squirrel invariably turns and max runs as if he was being chased by a rottweiler. would still fancy him to take a crow though.

The reason I ask is that my cat tried attacking a crow but the crow got away. Then I started asking people who would win....and it seemed split right down the middle.

I've seen cats with birds in their mouths, and yet to hear or see a cat poked to death by a bird
so I'd assume the cat would win

Ya, but a crow is as big as a cat and at least here in NY, those things are mean and nasty as hell. I agree, cats catch birds all the time, but a crow is one big bird mean *** bird.

true, crows are big and mean, but once the cat jumps on them, it's over
it's kind of like lions against wilderbeasts, yeah, they outsize the lionesses tremendously, and if they get a full-head of steam, they can do some damage, but they always seem to get taken down

I'm goin' with the cat too, but I think the cat comes out messed up, but good.

Cats are built to kill anything their own size my money is on the cat, except for maybe a badger, badgers are nasty

I could see a scenario where you had an unusually large young crow against an old fat housecat. Maybe the crow could get lucky then. But in normal circumstances the cat will have his way with the crow 100 times out of 100 tries.

thats a great story but am i the only one who has it in the back of my mind that when the cat grows up a bit it will probably end up eating the poor crow?

Being both the cat lover and ol' country boy that I am, I already know the answer to that question.
Cat. Final answer. Crows or ravens are essentially simply larger blackbirds and I've seen cats take them out with much difficulty whatsoever.
A better question in my opinion would be, "Cat or Bird of Prey"? In all my years, I have never witnessed a cat/hawk, cat/falcon, etc., fight to the death. It's doubtful that a cat would win most of those, but I did see a housecat kill an adult owl on Animal Planet once, so who knows?
