On the after game show on the radio, someone called in saying Irvin and Young said Henson couldn't play in the NFL on the ESPN pregame show.
Pearson said if they're saying that they must be hearing whispers around the league.

At this point I don't care who plays QB as long as it's not VT. But I don't see how anyone can judge Henson when he hasn't played much. Wasn't it Ron Wolf who was talking Henson up in training camp? And he's not a bad judge of talent.

I don't see how this team can keep getting young quarterbacks then cutting them before they get a chance.

My attitude is who cares what they say? For that matter, who cares what Parcells sees in practice?

PUT THE GUY ON THE FIELD FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND LET HIM MAKE HIS OWN CASE, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

I'm sick of hearing what all these people think about a guy who isn't even given a chance. GIVE HIM A CHANCE, for goodness sakes. He went 6-6 with a TD in his first game, and for all his rookieness, we were tied 7-7 in his 2nd game when he was jerked out in a way COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN PARCELLS DEALS WITH TESTAVERDE. Testaverde has had plenty of bad QB play this year where Parcells stayed with him.

Oh well, at least we didn't waste a lot on Henson. That is the way I look at it.

True all the way.
It just seems alot of chatter going on how Henson won't get another chance now. Madden,Irvin,Young, etc all say he's not the QB - and someone must be saying it. BP saying he might send Henson to NFL Europe doesn't help either when he also has stated he wants starters in the minicamps.

As weird as it sounds, I'm hoping for a rescue from Jerry Jones. I think this is a Bill Parcells stubborn point. Gonna prove his superior knowledge about QB's, of which he has none.

Well, wasn't it BP who said last week (or the week before) that there is a greater than average chance that either Henson or Romo will be the starting QB for the Cowboys next year?

And wasn't it BP who said that he obviously sees something in Henson and Romo or neither would be on the roster?

And wasn't it Parcells who started Testaverde today, and stayed with him all game long while we put up another WHOPPING 7 offensive points??

There is absolutely no way that anyone, including Parcells, can know if Henson can or cannot play,,unitl he plays for more than 2 quarters!

Ol' Bob next door seems to think Henson will be a fine NFL quarterback, given time. I think we should listen to him.

Because other than about a half of football, the rest of us - ESPN analysts included - have seen exactly the same amount of Drew Henson this season.

Trust me. Bob knows these things.

True.

But the same must hold with Irvin and Young, no?

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if he CAN'T play in the NFL. He's been out of it (football) for over 3 years. It's no secret that I have had my reservations about him.

I, however, am not going to say that he won't be able to play in a couple of years.....it's just, "how long do you want to wait around to find out?"

THis is one of the reasons why I maintain that Romo OR Henson should have been starting around weeks 7 or 8.

Behind the 8-ball and falling further behind.......

At this point, I don't want to see VT ever take another snap for the cowboys again. I hope he retires. I am sick of poor QB play for a guy who shouldn't be playing. Today's game was very winnable. Again we gave the game away.

Maybe not, but if Henson look awful during practice, then, that could be a telling sign.

So true. And the same can be said about all the folks on this forum. Until we're given the shot, how do they know *we* couldnt do it.

Speaking of that, hope you all have left your number with someone at VR cuz if Jerry keeps reaching, one of us is bound to get the call sooner or later.

Exactly - either he COMPLETELY SUCKS in practice. Which sounds fishy to me. OR this is a ploy to get the fans and the media off his jock and CALM down and lower expectations for when he finally does start.

yeah henson is raw. these "expert" opinions are insignificant. henson can buy into this junk or he can prove these suckers wrong. it's really up to henson. it's super easy to be a doom-sayer. it takes guts to BE the man. i hope henson has guts. it'd be nice to see somebody leading the offense FROM THE FIELD for a change.

From watching the segment, anything Young says, you got to totally ignore it just like his bet that Parcells will quit this year.

As far as Irvin goes, I have a feeling he doesn't have any inside info on cowboys personnel issues. Remember he is the one who said they wanted to bring back QUincy.

We know what BP said about QUincy just this past week.

So its their speculation and nothing more, in my opinion anyway. I saw Jerry Jones, talking after the loss, and he sure seem to emphasize how much he liked Henson's potential and not wanting to do anything geopardize the longterm potential of Henson by looking short term playing time this year.

So you think they should have only scored seven points in that game?I don't think about what should have or shouldn't have happened. When they needed to drive down the field and score they did and there wasn't a damn thing we could do to stop it.

We should all know by now that Young is very loyal and holds serious grudges. Even he knows that the Cowboys were far superior to his team that won the SB. He still hates the Cowboys.
They wouldn't have a show if they admitted it but the fact remains that....they don't know anything more than we do at this point.
I think BP will be back.
There's no way in heck that Henson is that bad. Even if he's not ready now I can't imagine him looking worse than Eli, Quincy, or Hutch in some of their early starts. Its also becoming hard to imagine that Henson will throw as many INTs as Vinny does now, which BTW is one of the biggest reasons we keep losing.
Getting rid of Henson before his final contract year would be a huge mistake, huge.
Bottom line is that Young doesnt know anything, he just gets paid more than you and i for pretending.

I was gonna post this earlier. Irvin said Parcells must have decided that Henson can't play. Young & Jackson were agreeing. Young said flat out that he can't play. Jackson said that he "commends" BP for seeing it & pulling him. Take it for what it's worth (I don't give much credence to them when they say things I don't like, so I'm not going to give much credence to it now).

Mortensen said, however, not to read too much into Henson's being bumped to #3.

They all seemed to think that Parcells is going after a young vet in the offseason.
