You have Archie . . . the dad . . .

Then you have Peyton . . .

And now you have Eli . . .

But there is a third Manning brother named Cooper . . .

He is the oldest of the three . . .

Has anyone else ever wondered what ever came of this guy?

Is he the gay brother or something (not that theres anything wrong with that?)

He's got a legendary NFL father and brother . . . and another NFL QB . . .

What does this guy do?

Did he play football?

Was he just no good?

Is his wife pissed that she married the loser of the family?

Nope, but I will tell you what I do wonder at times.....

If Eli's last name were not Manning, would he have been taken #1? Would he have all of this hoopla going on around him?

That's what I wonder at times.

I agree...Eli is vastly overrated now, and he was vastly overrated in April

i remember seeing something on nfl films about the manning family. the older brother cooper was a wide receiver and peyton was the qb on the same high school team. if i remember correctly he had a real bad injury or maybe even some type of illness that prevented him from playing anymore. i think he was a pretty good athlete but not as good as peyton or eli.

He played WR for Ole Miss and his career was cut short with a some sort of spinal injury.

He was a WR. So much for that "Pedigree Theory".

Isn't there one more Manning in H.S.?

b.t.w. anyone know why they grab the dogs by the nutz in those dog shows? They don't do that at the combines do they?

This is what I recall. His career was cut short.

Cooper is not "gay" as some have commented earlier. I actually saw the Manning family, including Peyton, in 2001 when they were watching brother Eli play against the LSU Tigers here in Baton Rouge. They sat 2 rows behind us. Peyton was there because it was the bye week for Indy. He was dressed so funny that you could barely recognize him (trench coat and a funny hat, with collar up, while munching on nachos). Were it not for Archie sitting next to him, I would have never recognized Peyton.

Don't let the San Diego draft incident fool you. They seem to be a very nice family.

Cooper career ended in college due to injury. And he was a WR.

The previous posts about Cooper and his injury are correct.

I disagree with the Eli is over rated theories. I believe in pedigree.

Jarrett Payton?

I think he was underrated coming out last year. I saw him in every preseason game, he looked like the 2nd best back for the Titans, above Antwain Smith.

I really wanted to see Anthony Dorsett be a better player :-/

Um, there was an SI article about him. He has muscular dystrophy, I believe (some sort of muscle wasting disease). Developed it while in college, otherwise was predicted to have been the best of the three. His wife was interviewed too--she said she got very angry that people insinuated he was some sort of failure. He works as a stock broker & is a very nice guy--she loves him dearly.

Anthony Dorsett was a starting NFL caliber DB who played on two Super Bowl teams. That's not bad pedigree if you ask me. :D

Who was nowhere NEAR the football player his father was. If you are saying that Anthony was to TD what Peyton was to Archie, then Anthony would be mentioned in the same breath with Ronnie Lott. I've never heard anything like that, have you?

I'm saying it's pretty amazing to even have a son who's an NFL quality player. I can almost guarantee my future son won't even make it on a Div III football squad. So the fact that TD's son was good enough to play on two Super Bowl teams is an attestment to his pedigree.

Leave hos and his manlove of eli alone.:p

Eli may turn out great down the road...too early to say anything beyond that right now.

But...give me Big Ben even before the draft.

Pedigree did get Anthony Dorsett to the NFL. It would be difficult to expect him to be as good as his father the Hall of Famer. Pedigree doesn't necessarily make you better, but it gets you to levels many others will never reach.

I think pedigree has gotten Eli to the NFL. It is up to him to establish at how high a level he will attain. I do agree that if his name wasn't Manning, he would not have been picked so high.
