There's a new one around the corner from my job.

The regular french fries tasted like McDonald's fries. McDonald's *might* be a little thicker. The smash fries looked like the same fries but with herbs on them. Good, but was expecting something different.

I had a classic smashchicken with pepperjack cheese. The chicken breast was kinda thin, but it was seasoned very well. Overall the sandwich was good. If the chicken breast had been thicker, then I would've given it an A+.

My co-worker got a regular smashburger. She thought it was great...and that it was better than Five Guys (where I've never gone). The hamburger patty looked like relatively thick and juicy. If it's anything like the chicken, then I'm sure it was seasoned well.

Is it still raining there? Or do I need to break out the tissues yet again this morning?

It was only a quick rain.

Side note on that. I had left my windows cracked when I'd gone into IHOP. The rain started and so the servers were going around telling people if they have their windows down to go roll them up.

My food had just arrived, so the decision was easy for me. Let it rain in the car. By the time I was done, the rain had stopped and any water that had gone in the car had already dried up from the 90+ degree heat.

Google-timeSmashburgers are the new burger franchises that Bigg and Colombo just bought into.

They're brand spanking new in Texas.

Lol.. There's a Five Guys just across the street from the Smashburger I went to. They're both new to the area.

Her son liked Five Guys. She didn't as much. They both really liked Smashburger.

To be fair, I've never had a Smashburger. I'll have to withhold judgment until that time. :D

They'll have to be doing something special to beat Prince's though. And the good thing about Prince's is that my g/f can get a veggie burger if she wants.

Regarding Five Guys, WG, stick to your guns and boycott it... all true Cowboys fans should, as one of the "five guys" is former Redskins' kicker Mark Moseley...

You know when name creativity goes out the window because you insert "Smash" first.

At least you GOT a Smashburger and a Five Guys. Here in Hawaii, there's a protest and a "sit-in" going on because Burger King wants to come to town.

Too "commercial" for some folks. Don't want to ruin the "aura" of Hawaii. The logic is, is that if you want THAT kind of stuff, stay on the mainland. We're to above all that stuff in Hawaii. We're going back to stone ages. God forbid we have a Burger King in town!

I did, however, go to the Romano's Macaroni Grill that just opened at a resort areas. I give it an A+, but I'm from the East Coast so I'm a little biased.....

I love Macaroni's Grill. Unfortunately, they closed the one by my house.

There's only two in Houston now and they're a pretty good distance from my house.

Gas being what it is, I'll go to Olive Garden which is right around the corner and hope to find something decent on the menu.

Don't you have McDs though? How'd they sneak through?

Probably by promising to put Spam on their menu. :D

Same here and down the street where we used to live back in Dayton.

You laugh, but McDonalds actually DOES have spam on the menu in Hawaii.

Hawaii has long been the poster-child hippies and beatnicks and "natural" type people. Once THEY get their land and THEIR home and THEIR goodies, they don't want anyone else to have the same. This "preserve the land" deal and "keep it the way it always was" thing is big here. Up to and including not being able to get a burger anywhere but McD's. McD's got in, and THAT did it. The default position to any kind of development or commerce is "NO", and it goes on from that starting point.

They always seem to be the ones denying others their choice because THEY do not approve of that choice.
