Guitar Legend Les Paul Dies at 94

Thursday, August 13, 2009

NEW YORK — Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording.

Aww ****.
I had the chance to see him recently and really thought I'd have time. He played every Monday in a jazz club in NY and just like with Stevie Ray Vaughn I dragged my feet and missed a legend perform live.

RIP old man, thanks for giving us your ingenuity and your talent.

Would you go to the Funeral?

I hate those things. Of course I hate it even more since I was at my grandfathers yesterday. :(

Would you go to the Funeral?

Nah. I'm sure it'll be a spectacle and if I did, it would be more to see who showed up....and that's pretty disrespectful.

Awww, man !!! That's too bad. Talk about a guy who changed music forever. Great guy too. Lived a great life. He will sorely be missed.
