Terrell Owens Wows Philly Crowd with New Limp Dance
http://www.sportspickle.com/features/volume4/2004-1222-owens.jpgTerrell Owens entertained a home crowd on Sunday with his most outrageous celebration routine yet, clutching at his ankle and then limping off the field and around the sideline as though he had torn ligaments and fractured a bone after catching a crucial first down pass in the third quarter of Philadelphia’s win over Dallas.

“T.O. is a lot of fun to have on the team,” said Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. “Sometimes I think he’ll run out of ideas for dances, but then he pulls out something like that. It was hilarious that he went as far to scream and moan as thought he had really been seriously injured.”

Owens celebration routine continued throughout the remainder of the game as he continued to limp along the Eagles sideline to the delight of the crowd. He even pulled the team trainers in on the gag, having them push and pull on his “injured” foot on the bench and then act as though they were taking him back to the locker room for X-rays.

“It was really exciting for me to be in on the gag,” said Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder. “As a trainer you don’t get many changes to be in the limelight like that and I kind of enjoyed it. T.O. is quite a cut-up.”
Eagles receiver Todd Pinkston said he thought Owens’ dance was his most realistic yet. “I remember when he mocked Ray Lewis by doing Ray’s dance when we beat the Ravens,” said Pinkston. “He did the dance almost exactly like Ray does it. But today was even more authentic. He looked like he really had torn some ligaments or something.”

Eagles coach Andy Reid said he would have preferred if Owens had returned to the close contest instead of continuing his limp dance on the sideline for the remainder of the game, but said he understood that it was just “T.O. being T.O.,” said Reid.

“T.O. is an amazing player and part of his game is that type of showmanship that we saw out there today,” said Reid. “If I try to stifle that part of his game it’s going to take away from his performance on the field. And I have to admit – that limp dance he was doing was pretty funny. But I look forward to having him back out on the field next week.”

Even with the game now three days past, Owens is still continuing with his gag.

“I just hope to be back in time for the Super Bowl,” Owens said with a straight face. “I’m going to do my best to rehab from the surgery and return to the field as soon as possible.”

“The fact that he has pulled in the team surgeon on this thing is really funny,” said McNabb. “T.O. is one crazy dude. I wonder when he’s going to stop joking.”

I don't like to laugh at injuries, but that was funny.
