Hey guys, I know we all argue alot, but lately it seems as though its getting quite hateful. Especially in that Kennedy thread. We all have to remember, we're all on the same side here. We just have different ideas on how to get there.

I'm just as guilty as the majority here, so I want to just say, if I'm in a dispute with you, I certainly mean no harm, and I would hope that I don't come across as "hateful", but if I do, please call me on it.

I could tell you right now that if I was to sit down with ABQ, Zrin, Ice, and God help me, Burm, Jbond, and even Artie, I'm sure we'd all drink a cold one, laugh and joke, and have a good time together, as long as we weren't talking politics. I bet we all have WAY more in common, than we have differences.

I think we should all try not to lose sight of that.

PS...Bush is the Devil. Just Kidding !!!!:lmao:

I called the Kennedy thread a while ago. It was obvious that it was coming. Honestly, you (that's a general you, not you specifically) need to just let the ranters rant and not get hurt about it.

It's an internet forum, a good sense of humor and not taking everything seriously is mandatory or you just end up wasting a ton of time and effort better spent elsewhere.

The Kennedy thread was doomed from the start IMO. To many people hold resentment for Ted Kennedy. Not saying it's right. I personally see no reason to walk all over a dead mans grave. I don't like Ted Kennedy and never have but he has passed and what is said and posted about the man is now for his family and freinds. I take no pleasure in saying hurtful things.

RIP Ted Kennedy. Condolences to the Kennedy Family.

As for the rest, I agree Cowboy. We are all in this together. I would imagine that if we all sat down and had a beer, we would likely discuss Cowboy Football rather then politics. At least I hope we would.

It is definately getting personal now. And though we disagree on the issues, I agree with your thoughts in the OP.

I am not disappointed to see a certain member of Congess pass away, but I there is a line you do not cross when someone dies (unless it is a pedophile, etc). Whatever else he may have been, he was an Elected member of the United States Congress. Some level of respect is deserved.

Appropriate song for discussing politic and politicians:

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me till Im sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
Theres someone in my head but its not me.

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

Personally, I liked the innuendos by posters such as Cajun; in one breath calling him a turd, in the other saying he's ambivalent about his passing. Some wear their honor on their sleeve, I guess.

I know a hypocrite when I see one.

I for one think that the arguing is a good thing. Not to say that I think people should get feelings hurt or anything of that nature, but I think its productive to have discussions like this. I know I don't post a lot in this thread...as I'm probably a bit out of my league...but I enjoy reading the opinions in here almost as much as anything in the Fan Zone.

Arguments get heated, that's just the way it is, but it's good to see that people stand by their convictions and aren't afraid to speak their minds...even if it is only a message board. When people's beliefs are challenged, it's understandable that there is anger, but I don't think that it's anything really personal around here.

I don't want this Zone to go anywhere, I think things are good here just the way they are...even if it's a little tense at times.

Earlier this morning, I was considering just stepping away from this board, as the tone was getting pretty personal and some serious name calling and religious attacks were ramping up. I'm glad this thead was started as I was pretty bummed out by the Kennedy thread. Sometimes the name calling gets pretty nasty and in light of CBZ40's passing, I thought people might take a more balanced approach and temper their comments. I had a good discussion with several conservatives regarding Heath Care a couple of weeks ago and, depsite not finding common ground on all the issues, it was pretty respectful.

I recognize that people will bring different perspectives to the table, based on their beliefs and history. Nobody has a monopoly on the truth and it remains to be seen as to what will or won't work from a political perspective.
