BP and JJ are saying that VT could be back as the starter next year.
VT is still the starter, which further delays the development of Henson and Romo.
Jerry says there is a possibilty we could trade one of our 1st rounders for future picks.
Jerry says this morning that the team will continue to be conservative in the free agency period, doesnt want get in a salary cap bind.
Jerry also said he doesnt see a scenario of drafting another QB.

He must have said in there somewhere there will be no possibility of a Super Bowl because I'm gonna be a tight wad...
Jerrah got burned in the past with high price tags and cap issues...now he's gone a complete 180 Kmart shopping...he needs to move somewhere in the middle....

He said in 01 he wouldn't draft a QB, even if we had the #1 pick, then went and signed Hutch and had him splitting snaps with Carter.
To me what they say doesn't always equal what they do...

I agree, these aren't very encouraging thoughts heading into another offseason. I do agree about not drafting a QB. No one coming out has more talent than Henson. As far as trading one of the #1's for a future pick, I hope its only a possibility not a plan. We need top round talent. BP's 4 thru 7th round choices aren't lighting the world on fire. That's all we need, 4 more corners and 6 more punt returners.
The FA spending part is arguable, you will have to pay at key positions, you can get quanity at others without overspending.

well, i don't want us going into salary cap hell for over-priced free agents, either.
but the qb scenario makes me ill.
I'd think that Jerry should start to ponder how he's going to put 90,000 fannies in the seats of that sparkling new stadium he's embarked on building. 5-11 and 6-10 teams arent going to fill that place, that's a certainty. This team needs some serious psychotherapy in its drafting and FA strategy. Now.

People, WE AREBT GONNA WIN THE SB NEXT YEAR!!! We will be good to just make the playoffs, rememebr 1989? It took us 4 years to get great again. We cant cure all in one offseason, and while I think we should be more open spenders, we cant get out of control like Snyder. We can afford to trade one of the picks. It takes time to rebuild.

As long as Jerry Jones is buying the groceries, we are NOT going to playoffs or the SB unless we get a lucky break. If Vinny is held in such regard like he is, we aren't going to do jack for the next couple of years until he retires/gets put out of his misery by a hard hit.

I'm not saying we will win the super bowl, but the recent history of the super bowl shows you are wrong...Rams? Ravens? Pats? and in New England's case, they did it twice coming off poor seasons...
in 1989 it would definitely take awhle to reload, because drafting players was basically all you could do...there wasnt any free agency like today...

The whole new approach seems to be that high priced FA are only worth it if you are close already and as Parcells said, that there is the type of player that you need available.
I guess my question is, How far away are we? and can you really gauge that well? I mean if you go out and add a Abraham, Simon, Charles Woodson and add a Mike Williams, another DT,S and LB through the draft and spend all your money... you have to be able to compete at a fairly high level. Even if you played all year with a young QB, the following year you would have the players in the system and have another first round draft pick to add to the run.
I think it's very hard to get better, without adding new talent. You can only "coach up" so much.

Jerry isnt buying the groceries, he isnt even doing window shopping...you think it was his bright idea to bring VT here? No, he was quoted as saying they were realy interested in Kerry Collins, then a couple days later backtracked and said that "wasnt the direction we need to go in"...why? Because Parcells wanted Vinny, period. Every player we've acquired for two yrs has been BP's move...

That's what everyone said last season, so we did nothing and got worse.
Good to have those cap dollars though.

But the core of those teams came via the draft. Kurt Warner was a lucky pick up. Brady came through the draft. Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden and Jamal Lewis came through the draft. Dilfer was a bargain basement free agent who was more of a bus driver than Vinny.
We still need about a draft or two to stock the core of this team.
