Aides to President Barack Obama are putting the final touches on a new strategy to help Democrats recover from a brutal August recess by specifying what Obama wants to see in a compromise health care deal and directly confronting other trouble spots, West Wing officials tell POLITICO.
Obama is considering detailing his health-care demands in a major speech as soon as next week, when Congress returns from the August recess. And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.
“We’re entering a new season,” senior adviser David Axelrod said in a telephone interview. “It’s time to synthesize and harmonize these strands and get this done. We’re confident that we can do that. But obviously it is a different phase. We’re going to approach it in a different way. The president is going to be very active.” Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/26672.html#ixzz0PuppGQRk

I do not believe the misdirection for a second. Taxpayer medical care. Illegal alien care government option? the government has already forbid the free market regarding health care.

How is this any different from anything that's been happening for the duration of this healthcare debate? They want it, they put it in the bill, he thinks it's the best solution, but he's willing to compromise............but guess what's missing???? Anybody, Anybody....Bueller??.....ANOTHER IDEA, PERHAPS FROM GEE, I DON'T KNOW........A REPUBLICAN?? Think they'll put an idea other than "no" or "death panel" together as a reasonable counter-offer to healthcare reform? Yeah me neither.

Any mod or admin can lock a thread...even if another mod starts it. Any other mod or admin can delete or edit a mod's post...which has happened in the past.

If the liberals in the house and senate are willing to remove the public option off the table then republicans should step up and contribute to a health reform bill. Having said that many of the left have already said no public option no deal.

.........nope, no compromise with this issue......the public options will just get added in some sub-committee on another bill inside 6 months......with little State run media fanfare......
its time to be the "party of NO" on this issue, on cap/tax on illegal ammnesty

I just wish the "party of NO" would have some ideas and plans for health care reform instead of having power for years and not doing a darn thing.
Kind of hard for anyone to take them serious now concerning health care reform when they did nothing for years when they had absolute power to do so.
So...in the end we wind up with nothing again...just political talking points for the sheep to spin.

I don't think the republicans should do that. I want conservatives to be part of the process of putting together a health care reform package as long as it is not a Government ran public option and I think the Blue Dog democrats are insisting on the same thing.
The public option for republicans and conservative democrats is just not going to fly.
I think if public option is taken off the table and republicans refuse to step up they will only be cutting their own throat.

They have presented 3 plans. Take the time to educate yourself before shooting off at the mouth.
Sometimes being bereft of ideas is a lot better than having scads of terrible ones.
