For the first time in my entire life I am already not feelin good about 05 and how it will be a ruined season.
What is there to look forward to. I hear theres a good chance Vinny will be back in 05 and that just really ruined 05 for me. Other teams have there young QBs playin and learnin. The Giants have Manning. He is startin to play better. Ramsey for the Skins has been playin. Big Ben in Pitt. Why not us. Well I guess cuz Vinny is a Parcells guy and our young QBs are not Parcells Guys. The Giants were in the play off hunt but went to Manning anways and it will pay off for them.
We got ridda AB and that sucked. I have no idea where his team is headed but I guess we will be lookin forward to the #1 pick of the 2006 draft. Will any of our QBs Henson or Romo ever get to see the game with Parcells here.
Remember I told all yall that as long as Parcells is here Vinny will be the QB. Looks like Im right. I really feel I hvae nothin to look forward to next year.
Well I guess we can see if Vinny will be the first Cowboy to throw for 30 INTs in a season. He is good nuff to do that.

Hey...next season is light years away... there's a ton of stuff that could happen...
One of the biggest issues I have about Parcells is his ego...but that ego might in fact, serve us well...because I can't see him wanting to lose any more....it's already wearing kinda thin for him...

You've convinced me now. To hell with the Cowboys! I'm skipping the entire '05 season now due to your powerful assessment of our future.

Yeah, and he really has won me over by showing his desire to win to hint around that Vinny will likely be the 2005 starting Qb.
Man, just can't wait for our Super Bowl bound year to start in 05!!!

Some people just don't drink the kool-aid and buy into the crap that Parcells is all knowing, all powerful, and is a football god.
He's proved he's anything but that this year.

Is that what I said? No, so stop putting words in my mouth. When someone says VT will start at QB next year and next year is already a wash, they need to just sit down and take a nap.

Maybe your not a real Cowboy fan is the problem. I guess you like ancients for QBs who cant play. I could just see you cheerin every time Vinny throws a INT sayin that INT was just as good as a punt.
Me I want better. I guess bein a loser is ok with you. I thought the Boyz were about bein a team of winnin and every other team is jealous of. Fans like you dont deserve to be Cowboy fans if y ou think the crap we see on football team is ok. Maybe you should be a Lionz fan since you think losin is so coolio.
I thought the latest rumor was VT was thinking about retiring?
Even if he's back, I'm still optimistic. Not for Super Bowl chances, but for at least some improvement. High draft picks and some really big cap room could turn the team around a lot. Emphasis on could lol

Sorry but hinting around that VT will be back next year gives me no great feeling and or satisfaction about next year. And i do have to agree that some people have to stop thinking that BP is all-knowing about things and just about a football god in there minds. To me starting VT these last 2 games or even bringing him back is utter nonsense.

these suicidal posts always kill me. the people that write them are the ones who will be the first to pick the daily fishwrap up off the driveway or visit espn.com to find out what the team is doing in FA or what their draft strategy might be. they will wanna know who the opponents are before the playdates are scheduled. you know. drama fans. they're still hardcore. and they'll always be back for more.

Jones: Money not a cure-all

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admits there are more questions now than last season about a team full of needs.
His approach to the crucial upcoming off-season: be conservative. His approach to having two first-round draft picks: think trades.
With ample salary-cap flexibility, Jones said he would be frugal in his pursuit of high-priced free agents. The Cowboys had little success addressing holes last off-season and were unwilling to be free spenders.
"We'll be, probably, pretty conservative," Jones said. "We've got a lot of areas that we need help in. Just because you have a lot of cap room doesn't mean that you just go out and spend it, because you will spend five years recovering. You plan this out over a several-year period of time, so it will be conservative."
Jones was the guest speaker Wednesday at the Fort Worth Convention Center for the kickoff luncheon for the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl. Cincinnati and Marshall meet in the Fort Worth Bowl this evening at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
The Cowboys traded their 2004 first-round pick to Buffalo for three draft choices, including the second-round pick used to take Julius Jones and the Bills' first-round choice in 2005. The Cowboys will have two first-round picks, which could be important pieces to the future.
But Jones could be in a trading mood again for the draft.
"We could do some trading," Jones said. "Anytime you've got two in the first round, it opens up a lot of potential trading possibilities, and we'll be looking to next year. Don't rule out trading one of those picks for a future pick."
Jones also said that as far as sending young quarterbacks Tony Romo and Drew Henson to NFL Europe in the off-season, "I could see that happening."
Former quarterback Chad Hutchinson spent last season in Europe before the Cowboys released him in July. Hutchinson starts for Chicago.

This article really made me sick. i dont expect much improvement next year, but ill stay loyal to the cowboys.

Before this season it was looking like Carter would be the starter. And people were moaning and wailing at the prospect. Well they got rid of Carter didn't they?
So why not wait until next season starts before you whip out the sackcloth and ashes.

I for one think the 2005 season will a turning point for this team in many ways. We'll be getting back some key players from IR, that we have really missed this season in Glenn, Campbell, Hunter, Peterman, Thornton etc. All these players would have contributed in so many ways, if they had stayed healthy. Even Jacob Rogers has been hampered by injuries all year. Nobody even talks about how good Al Johnson is doing, as our starting center right now. Last year, everyone was saying he was a complete bust. With Tucker and Gurode wearing thin on Parcells, I think Rogers and Peterman could easily be starting along with Johnson next year.
Also, you have to remember that Testaverde, Henson, Jones, Johnson and Morgan weren't even here last year. It simply takes time to learn a new system, whether you're a rookie or a veteran. It's no wonder that Witten looks the best out there and Glenn was our go to receiver until his injury. This team went through a lot of turnover on offensive side of the ball. You just can't change your starting QB, RB and both WR's and expect another 10-6 season IMO.
As Aikman would say...GET REAL!
Look, we're in excellent shape cap-wise and we have 2 #1 draft picks to play with next year. We can trade up or trade out of the 1st round or simply draft both picks where they are. I can understand why Jones and Parcells wouldn't mind having Vinny back too. I think that many of his INT's, were the result of poor route running by the receivers. Parcells even says as much almost every week, yet nobody really seems to listen. I've read so many posts where fans who actually attended the game said, that hardly anyone gets open for Vinny in the first place. I think next year we'll see our offense execute better, no matter who's under center. I would love to see Henson become the starter from day one, but if he struggles in preseason, it would be nice to have a veteran like Vinny still around IMO.
Now what the heck happened to our #1 defense? :banghead:
I thought after losing Woodson and Hunter, we could still manage to be a top 10 unit. This is the real problem as I see it and only youth can fix it. It's time to part ways with certain players and I think we already know who they are. This is where we should concentrate the bulk of our draft picks and money in FA.

The difference is that the rookie QB's playing for other teams completed their college training at a high level and just had to step it up a notch...we don't have a young QB like that....we have an inexperienced athlete who's been playing baseball for a few years and an undrafted QB no one else wanted badly enough to even offer up a 7th round draft pick or decent FA money.
Vinny will be back, but I really don't see him starting...FA is just like the draft...you don't spill your plans and guts to everyone else...I'm going to bet that we'll sign someone, even if it's not a high profile player...we will NOT go to camp with just Vinny, Romo, and Henson again...never happen.

Just because someone is pessimistic doesnt mean they are "always" pessimistic and just because someone does not wish to watch the team a second year in a row with a 41 year old interception machine doesnt make them impatient, in fact you can say they are patient because they would rather see a rookie qb struggle. I too am seeing the glass half empty if VT is the starting qb in 05. Ill watch, but with the smallest amount of enthusiasm I have probably ever had going into a season.

Pretty much this next years fate for me entirely lays in the months of March and April. Nothing of what we do next regular season even matters, it's all about the FA period and the Draft. Our record CAN get worse and things CAN be better for it--if we bring in a good cast of prospects from the draft. IF we make a change at quarterback. Etc, etc.. But we just have to get younger in key posistions to not only give this team something to rally around, but for the fans to regain the passion we once felt.
Quincy may have been a downgrade compared to Vinny (big time matter of opinion there), but atleast that boy had this team playing behind him. Atleast he had them willing to go to war with him each and every week. Plus he was passionate about being a Cowboy, it was his lifelong dream--what's being in Dallas for Vinny--but possibly just an inconvienance that he had to move again.
Bottomline, QC made a crappy team play above itself and Vinny, on a "percieved better team", has made them play under itself--simply because nobody believes walker-man can get it done.
Bill gutted us with one fail blow, and it's almost like he knew what he was doign there. At that moment he became Mr. Stupidcoach, has been ever since in every move he's made, and for the life of me, I can't understand what happen. Brilliant to Senile fool, in one day? I find that not only interesting, but suspicious also.

Wasn't Tony Romo added to this team last season?
Drew Henson came on the team this year did he not?
Hasn't Parcells coached this team TWO years now?
SO.....then Romo AND Henson ARE Parcells' guys aren't they?????
Just like Jason Witten and Al Johnson.

Vinny will not be QB next year. It won't happen. God won't let it happen.
He'll be 42 years old. He has the mobility of a Yugo GT with a cracked engine block. His arm has the velocity of the little catapult from the old 'Mouse Trap' game. He can not dissect and read defenses even if they were written by Dr. Seuss and featured pop-ups from the book.
Maybe BP thinks he can still drive the bus; with his decisions as of late, anything is possible with him. Jerrah? He's saving face. It wouldn't be cordial of him to say that Vinny is not starting next year when he's still trying to win games this year. He wants a youth movement and will get it one way or the other as any other QB in the league will undercut Vinny's age.
Besides, what ceiling is there for a guy who throws more TD's than INT's and is at the top of the leaderboard for picks as well? Why would you want someone like that to captain your ship?
Each week, especially last week, I tell myself 'I've seen the last of Vinny.' Each week I'm wrong. The tuna always announces him as QB on Tuesday to the chagrin of the collective whole of the world. I've learned to start expecting it so I won't be surprised by the inevitable letdown.
Just don't be surprised when a nuclear war breaks out and the only things left standing are cockroaches and Vinny Testaverde.

To me, anyone that's willing to pretty much write off a season that has yet to arrive somehow fails to meet the definition of the term. Especially when willing to do so on the rumor that Vinny may be back next year. Nothing said now by Jerry, BP, or ANYONE connected to the Cowboys is written in stone. We're all disappointed with the way this season panned out, but we've all sat thru them before and we will no doubt do so in the future. But not in the NEAR future. Next season WILL be a turning point for this team. I'm ALREADY excited about the possibilities. Come August, we're all going to be so overflowing with optimism the posts will literally flood this board. It's as inevitable as the tides. And you'll be right there chiming in with the rest of us.
Temporary insanity. That's what it is.

Stop being such sheep and don't buy into everything that is said to the media, especially during the course of these press conferences. The club heircarchy has little idea how this team will look in 2005.
They feed the local media all sorts of bull and watch them scurry for the story. Then some fans take it and run with it. It's kinda comical.
