then doesn't it also stand to reason that when two teams with anemic offenses meet, then the better defense should win?

Both teams have inconsistent lines, decent pass receiving TE's, decent but unspectacular WR's...one has a young strong armed QB, and the other has a veteran who plays well except under pressure...both have good RB's who are actually quite similar.

However, the Redskins have the better defense through 13 games and the better DC...that's indisputable except by the blindest of homers who refuse to believe in stats or in points per game allowed, both of which have the Redskins defense in a different stratosphere from our own.

Both teams have veteran coaches, one is actually in the HOF, and the other gets called a HOF coach though he isn't there yet.

So how come everyone here thinks we'll win the game? I can understand wanting to win the game or favoring your own team or even looking at recent history (emphasis on history), but what concrete fact is there to put one's confidence on that the Cowboys will win?

I'll be pulling Cowboys all the way, but I see no way we beat the Redskins today, especially if, as many say, defense wins championships.

Nothing makes sense when these two teams meet except for the fact that Dallas has their #....

Forget statistics and dumb slogans like "Defense wins Championships"-- you'll just drive yourself crazy trying to make sense of them. The ONLY statistic that matters is 5-9; you are what you are.

Dallas led virtually every defensive statistic last year, and it mostly meant our offense stunk and we played one of the easiest schedules I've ever seen us have. The Redskins are similar-- do they have any sacks? Picks? What are they like when their backs are against a wall? At 5-9 it looks like they suck when faced with a real challenge-- same for us.

....ya - sorta like - "forget he is going to be a Hall of Fame coach", you'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out how BP thinks sometimes. The ONLY statistic that matters is 5-9: you are what you are.

Lots of things don't make too much sense, especially in rivalry games. How many times have we seen good Dallas teams being beaten by bad Washington teams and vice versa?

Many.

And while the Skins are better. playing better, etc, these are still two bad ball clubs. You can't write either team's chances off for today.

Of course, after the game, someone will surely chime in with "I told you so."

Yup. And same with Schottenheimer too, right? Even if they go deep in the Playoffs he should be canned the day after their season ends. Everybody knows he's old, washed up and has lost touch on reality because look at the Chargers the last 2 years. 8-8 then 4-12. Obviously he had no clue how to win. Just because they spaced out and didnt can him after last year doesnt mean they shouldnt do it now. Afterall, he undoubtedly makes no diff as a HC. They're only winning simply because Brees is having a career year.

No matter what they do this year you can easily make the argument they'd have done far better without that goon as HC.

We certainly better not take the same chance with our own goon. Fire him asap!

Nope - Shotty is a helluva coach and unafraid to play the younger guys.

If he's such a great coach whats the excuse for his team getting 4 games worse in his 2nd season at S.D? Shouldnt they have improved? Was it all someone elses fault?

And last I checked we have a number of 1st and 2nd year guys playing alot at certain positions. Or does that not matter unless it's guys that YOU think should be playing more?

I've been slammed again...by the inexplicable...and while that one stupid pass and blown coverage by Taylor probably cost us at least 6-7 draft slots, I couldn't be happier come Monday when I see all the Redskins fans at work in Richmond, Va....:)

It happens, every week in the NFL. This is far from rare. Just hit close to home this week.
