For the 4th time in 5 weeks, the Cowboys defense really came to play today, especially our "bad" secondary. Terence Newman looked GREAT for the second week in a row and now has 4 INTs this year, leading the team. The few of you saying he was a bust have been suspiciously quite lately.

Even Zimmer could not find away to hold back all the talent we have on D.
Newman looked better today, if you don't have talent around you, it is like a domino effect, you will look worse then you are playing.
Newman will be alright with some talen around him.

If we can get a serious DT to play beside Glover, use Carson in the rotation, and upgrade Frazer (who moves to the nickle) and upgrade L. Scott, we're 80% of the way there on defense.
Then it's just find that elusive DE opposite Ellis.
I think we WILL FINALLY get the DT and the upgrade at CB and Safety in 2005, but it's going to be harder to get the DE, IMO.

especially impressive for T-New because apparently he was very sick all day before the game again...
he's had a very good 2nd half+ of the season...

Newman has been much better of late. I can't bag on him at all.
This team needs him to be a very good player to have any hope in the near future.
As far as Lynn Scott goes, he has been playing pretty well. I am AMAZED.
Even had a pick today.
I also like the sound of Frazier in the Nickle.

Newman had a nice INT and made the "game-saving" tackle against Coles at the end to keep the Skins out of reasonable FG range.
He also seems to have recovered his burst and regained his focus.
His struggles are somewhat exaggerated on this board, though. His only real bad games were against the Steelers and the Hawks. He had a few mediocre games and several exceptional games.
The real problem has been the other WRs torching the other CBs and TEs/RBs running freely through the secondary against our safeties and LBs. Even that has improved of late - Frazier may end up being an okay nickel corner - he sure seems feisty enough.

Like many of you, I get to see quite a few NFL games each week. Not trying to sound like a homer here, but I don't know of a defensive tackle in the NFL who is playing better football the last month or so than LaRoi Glover.
The guy is relentless and playing some outstanding ball right now.

Glover has been amazing. Any time he is single blocked, he is bullrushing his man to the QBs feet or disrupting opposing RBs. It's been quite impressive. They seem to be lining him up beside Ellis more recently - maybe to make it harder to double him?
I hope Ellis finally gets his 10th to calm his detractors. Got his paws on Ramsey a couple of times today but Ramsey managed to throw the ball away.
Leo Carson has also been playing quite a bit better recently and he is a big reason why the run D has improved so much. If we can find one more DT we could have a nice 3-man rotation next year.
That still leaves the great abyss that is the RDE spot. I guess that's what offseasons are for.

The Defense has not been playing to bad, but some additional talent is still needed.
I never gave up on Newman, and still believe he will be a very good corner. He has been playing much better as of late.
I am under no illusions though.
We need a DE, DT, CB, FS, and another Linebacker would not hurt either.

As he did earlier in the year after the Pittsburgh and Green Bay games, he manned up big time after his terrible game in Seattle. It shows he has big time character.
