Just look around the league this week. Look at all the teams with no playoff chances, but doing everything they could do to eek out a victory.

And when they did the smiles, excitement, and gradification of victory. It was all over the league this weekend.

Look at the COWBOYS today, playing the HATED Redskins.
Vinnie drops back and throws a beauty to a lowly 7th round pick to snatch victory away from those dang Redskins in
dramatic fashion. Every player on the Cowboys playing their hearts out, because it meant something to them.

Vinnie gets hug after hug from Allen, Gurode, Ryan, Anderson, and Adams is tackling Crayton in the Endzone, while Morgan and Key come to his side.

The Cowboys are smiling. After the game Parcells and Jerry say they are very happy about this one.

BUT, There is a large fraction of Cowboy fans who want to take that all a way from you. They wish your heads were hanging low, and you were down. They wish you lost!

And people wonder why Parcells does not listen to the fans? Gee go figure.

Some on this board have said they want a Cowboys loss for a better draft pick. I understand where they are coming from.

Parcells and BP guys (re: Vinny) have taken away the hope they have for a brighter future.

The only thing they have left to hope for is a draft pick.

Me, I'll take a win over the Skins anyday so long as it doesn't mean Vinny is back at the helm next year.

And it is a given that they'd have laid down like dogs if Vinny did not play, and they'd have shown far less emotion had Henson or Romo threw the game winner.

That was and still is the LAMEST argument for not getting our young players experience.

I'd be happy to go with Henson, but I don't think BP will do that. Romo and Henson likely both spend a season in NFLE.

Many are hoping for Hasselbeck or Brees but I don't think either will be available. Even if they were available I don't think BP believes in spending big bucks on a FA QB so we still wouldn't be bringing in players of that ilk.

I suspect next year's QB is currently a vet on someone else's roster. ?Kitna ?Dilfer ?Griese ?Bowman If none of these guys strike BP's fancy, expect the same crew back (Vinny) with the same results.

Yep...from what I've seen, coaches make changes at QB in order to spark the team...

The only reason this team would lay down if Henson or Romo was playing is because Parcells basically announced that putting them in the game would be the equivalent of giving up...

What he should have done was just keep quiet about things...when pressed for answers regarding the QB situation, instead of saying "Testaverde gives us the best chance to win" simply say, "Both kids are progressing well...I'm not sure their ready yet though."

But to equate playing the young guys to giving up on the season was foolish...

Foolish like calling them too stupid, or like saying I don't know what to do to get through to them, or saying before a must win game against NO, "You guys don't look ready?" :D

I have to admit that I wanted Vinny pulled...not so that we would lose but because I thought our young qb's could do just as good a job. If that meant that we would lose with them too, well my thinking was we would lose anyways even with Vinny. That being said I couldn't help cheering my ARSE off at my local sports bar as Crayton hauled in that TD pass. Man does he have soft hands or what?.... GO BOYS! :skins: :jints:

Two key games this season have dealt a deadly blow to the immediate future of this team, ironicly, they were both wins.

Seattle and now Washington.

Everytime time Parcells has his back to the wall on playing the younger guys we pull off some kind of miracle and he gets to say I told you so.

In the grand scheme of things, I would have traded a victory today and at Seattle for a chance at letting Henson play and develop. Its a no brainer.

I have no problem with Romo and Henson not playing another down this season because I think they probably suck so bad that there's nothing to be gained from their play anyway...the coaches probably already know all they need to know about either of them. We're finishing the year with a little dignity, and then we'll go out and find our QB for 2005.

Next year:

1. Someone from another team
2. Vinny
3. Henson

I'll take winning over losing any time. As for the draft, we will draft where ever we end up but on Sunday that is the time to play football and if you play then you play to win always!

You forget that this was a win over a hated rival. I understand all of your coach approach with this past game and wanting to see the young guys playing. I still thought it was a great win.

Vinny or not. We won. That feels good to me.

Im sure they will say hello next season when Manning is torching our secondary.

But no worries, Vinny will save the day!

On your first point, you have no idea whether they wouldn't have laid down like dogs had Henson or Romo played. So why you even tried to bring up that alternative is ridiculous as a rebuttal.
We also don't know if they would have laid down like dogs if they had inserted a 17-year-old high school quarterback.

The team would have done what professionals are trained to do. They would have played.

But would there have been a psychological "let down" because the QB behind center isn't as experienced as Vinny? Highly likely.

I would like to see Henson and Romo get playing time. But I also understand Parcells' desire to win. And I know that the players on the team are more interested in "winning" then they are in improving their draft pick.

If they aren't then they don't belong on the roster.

Whether posters like it or not, Vinny gives this team the best chance to win, mistakes and all.

But that is a seperate question than "Is he the future of this organization."

We have a divide on this board with respect to the two issues. I, for one, can't fault any fan who wants us to win. I also can see the interest in seeing whether Henson can lead this team next year.

I too would like a high draft pick, but I want to win because that's what it's all about.

And since this is a very weak draft, I'm not that concerned about a high draft pick. The value may be lower in the draft anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Manning play four years in college? ;)

He's not as far removed from the field or the game as Henson.

Think about what it says about how Bill views Henson and Romo if it is indeed true that Vinny, with his many faults, gives us the best chance to win.

Not too glowing.
