Hopefully this is just Jerry hyped after a win, but this is what he said:

"I don't know that we've ever -- ever -- had a game where our quarterback got hit so much, got sacked so much, got booed so much, and come back and won the ballgame," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, not gloating but amazed.

I really hope the JJ/BP braintrust isn't giving serious thought to bringing VT back next year as the starter. I don't know that I can take another year of Vinny at the helm.

It is more of a disguised shot at the "fans" than it is praise for Vincenzo.

Well they are and you are right to be scared. But, in the end, I think Vinny will retire.

BTW did anyone else see the very large sign someone hung in veteran stadium that said "Vinny, please retire" (paraphrasing)? That has to sting one's ego. I can't imagine that he'll be back next year under any circumstances.

I think it's amazing that Testaverde continues to get hammered on this board as if the offensive problems are all his fault. He deserves a break from all of the criticism that has been thrown his way. If you look at all the factors involved that have affected our offense then it's understandable why Vinny has struggled at times:

1) The play of the offensive line has been the biggest culprit in my opinion. Overall, they've done an average job especially in keeping the sacks down, but they've consistently allowed heavy pressure to affect Vinny. The run-blocking has been poor at best, and they've made many mistakes in terms of penalties and missed blocks.

2) Injuries have crippled this offense with losing Dan Campbell, Terry Glenn (our best receiver), Keyshawn's knee injury, Julius Jones (best running back), Quincy Morgan's bumps and bruises, and Vinny's own shoulder injury. How can you expect the offense to perform when you lose your best receiver and running back, and your second best receiver (Bryant) gets traded the week before we lose Glenn. On top of that, our third best receiver (Johnson) has to play a third of the season with a knee injury. You tell me how potent the Colts' offense would be if they lost Marvin Harrison, E. James, and M. Pollard, traded Reggie Wayne, had Stokely playing with a gimpy knee and Peyton playing with a gimpy shoulder. They would flat out SUCK, big time!!

3) For the first 12 games of the season, the defense have had one of the worst takeaway ratios in the leaque. As a result, the offense rarely had a short field to work with.

Let's not bury the guy yet. After another offseason, getting key players back from injury and adding new ones through free agency and the draft, our 2005 offense being led by Vinny isn't that bad an option.

I think what he's basically saying is he hasn't seen a game where, under his tenure as owner, a Cowboys quarterback was booed so mercilessly and still won in a situation that looked winless.

And really, he's probably right.

I don't think he was trying to build up Vinny as much as he was the improbability of winning in that environment.

I say we sign VT to a long term contract. What a year the man is having and i am sure he will only get better thru his senior years.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that Vinny retires after this year . . .

And I don't think our 2005 starter is currently on this team . . .

disagree on #1...being a backup QB is easy money.

agree entirely on #2....hopefully we sign or trade for someone in FA period.

I would like Vinnie back next year at the vet minimum as a backup only. Let the kids get most of the snaps.
