I know it's hard to pretend redskins coach.......but please try......( think of the money:D )

Strenghten your O-Line and D-Line.
And replace Smoot, instead of resigning him.
Personally, I think he is the most over-rated CB in Football.
Shore up the Oline.
Add another playmaker to the O, probably a speedy WR.
Hope that Ramsey takes the next step.
Add a TE who can both block and catch. That would be another dimension for your O. I know cooley is the H back, you just need another threat from the traditional TE position.
I would also get a new Offensive coordinator.

Seriously.. I know you don't want to hear it.. but I've thought that Lavar Arrington has always been waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy overated.. you achieved the #2 D in the league not only without him but BECAUSE.. he was injured.. (please believe it) I would trade Lavar.. I'm sure some team is gassed on him... and I don't think Ramsey is the answer @ QB..... you also need a big play wide receiver.. Coles is just not the same.. and Garder.. well his nickname is 50/50 -- no need to go further.. also.. whoever is calling your offensive game plan. (Gibbs) should stop... you don't challenge anybody vertically down the field whatsoever.. Ramsey's completion % has improved.. but the dinks and dunks.. arent' going to cut it..

Just a player or two in your O line, a stud and one other upgrade on your D line (it's amazing your D is as good as it is with castoffs like Evans and Noble) and maybe a real stud TE for Gibbs to play with, and you should be ready to roll...

#1 You guys need a new ORT if Jansen isn't coming back because Brown could be the worst starting OL in the league.
#2 I think you guys need someone with speed opposite of Coles who seems to have become your possession WR which is odd considering he is a 4.3 guy.
#3 On D, I think getting a better pass rusher in the front 4 would really solidify what is already a very good D.
You are somewhat married to some overpaid, overrated players (Brunnel, Samuels, Arrington, Portis) but because of large bonuses there is not much you can do about it without entering "cap hell". I think the biggest issue facing the Skins is keeping the very expensive core of this team intact as players' contracts come up. I guess the main guy this offseason is Smoot who should be looking at a $10M bonus and $5M/yr based on current market value.
Fortunately or unfortunately, we don't have this problem. Tons of cap space and no productive young vets entering FA.

Nothing could fix that mess, jk.
Smoot is probably the most overrated player you guys have. I don't know who labeled him a "shutdown CB", but they made a mistake. Your offensive line is a wreck(like our right side), and you guys need a dependable #2 WR. If Ramsey is the guy then thats all I see.
There's no doubt you guys have an owner that will spend the money.....problem is he always trys to put together a probowl team every year. Until he figures out he can't buy a championship, you guys are doomed.

I feel for Redskins fans. I really do.
With the Cowboys, as many problems as we have, it seems pretty evident what we have to do to improve this team. With the Redskins, though, no matter who the front office signs, the team continues to remain in the cellar (or near the cellar) of the division.
I'm still not convinced in the "type" of players the Redskins are signing. I don't think the way to build a team is through a bunch of high-priced and overrated free agents. There are quite a few 'Skins players that have that sort of reputation as a primadonna of sorts -- Arrington, Gardner, even Portis to an extent. Taylor, with his off-field escapades, is another guy I wouldn't be too comfortable depdending on.
You have a head coach that preaches class, class and class, but players that don't necessarily fulfill that message IMO. Fred Smoot isn't the type of player I associate with Gibbs. Gibbs made a living coaching a class-act like Darrell Green at that position. Smoot is the type of loud-mouthed, brash player Jimmy Johnson would like.
Beyond these fundamental issues I have with the Redskins' roster, I think you simply have to get better play at the quarterback position. I was at Texas Stadium today, and Ramsey's performance from the second quarter on was some of the worst quarterbacking I have seen.
He's young, but how long is that a free pass? He's erratic and a bit of an enigma. He's got the tools but something just seems to be missing. He just doesn't seem to inpsire confidence in his teammates. He's not the type of quarterback you walk away in awe after watching play.
I also think your offensive line has been problematic. Portis is a better runner than he's been made to be this season. Samuels is overrated for the performance he puts forth. The interior of your offensive line was eaten alive by La'Roi Glover today. With Jansen gone, the wide right side of your line isn't at its best.
Your defense is rock solid. The pass rush could be better, but the unit is still among the top ones in the league. The secondary's performance has been very consistent, despite its performance against the Cowboys. Keyshawn Johnson beat your corners like a drum, but that's not reflective of their performances this season as a whole.
In short, I think your lines need more talent and you need an improvement at quarterback.
One more point I'd like to add. I think Redskins fans generally overrate their team's talent base. Every off-season, over at ExtremeSkins, I read how Washington is one of the most talented teams in the league. Some of the prominent posters will create reasons to explain the team's continual losing status, all the while proclaiming the team as among the league's more 'talented' teams.
The coaching is always blamed for the Redskins' woes. But even with Gibbs leading the way, the losing culture hasn't changed. I think this speaks volumes for the type of approach Washington has implemented during free agency under Daniel Snyder. Snyder has a great passion to win and is willing to do anything to get players he feels will help the team. The problem is that he generally goes for name value over long-term productivity.
If you read the board here during the off-season, you would have seen a lot of concerned fans. Sure, coming off a playoff berth, plenty of Cowboys fans expected another playoff season. But few felt this team was one built on a truly solid foundation. With age at receiver, quarterback and running back, most fans were realistic enough to suggest the team would encounter turmoil at one point or another. Few, if any, predicted all three players to return to 1998 status.
In Washington, on the other hand, it seems like the fans always think they have more than they really have. Only Redskins fans truly view Patrick Ramsey as a budding franchise quarterback, for instance.
I'm not trying to jump on you while you're down. Don't get me wrong, this team has plenty of woes as well. Today's game wasn't the battle of 5-9 teams for nothing. I think Redskins fans need to remember, sometimes, that you are what you are. And when you have a team full of "high profile" players that are consistently unable to produce winning seasons, that says something about the level of their talent and character.

Two Words: Be Patient
Snyder has no patience. He plays fantasy football with his team every year. He changes out players so often it doesn't allow them time to create chemistry.
He never should of fired Marty Schottenheimer.

This may not be the best way to explain my thoughts, but I'll give it a try.
In a way I look at us as the Boston Redsox of the NFL and the skins as the Yankees( as far as the rivalry goes). The BoSox brought in role players and regular guys to mix in with their big name players....the Yankees thought that building an all star team is the way to go this year......the Skins spend out the arse every year and for most of this streak we've fielded a mediocre football team and still continue to own them.
The Yankees vs. RedSox may not have been the best way to compare us, as I think we're the Yankees of the NFL, as far as tradition goes, but I think you guys will get my point.

I agree with everything you guys are saying........It all makes sense......
As for extremeskins saying the skins are one of the top teams EVERY off season......consider the source......Even I thought we'd be better than this.......Most team fans will say 10-6 EVERY year regarless of what experts think......
I don't think 10-6 is impossible if the skins score 17+ points a game......
As for smoot, LaVar, and samuels.....
hmmm.....I'm thinking Hold on smoot......While he's NOT a darrell he is a team leader and a pretty solid corner overall......some say he's overrated but I think he is just average. He covers everyone but Bryant and Keyshawn well and stops the run like he's 30 lbs bigger.......
Lavar.....I think he is what people say he is......sometimes he makes great plays then he over persues and blows an assignment. I'd say we keep him and see if Williams can disipline him....
Samuels.....I REALLY don't like this guy but Bugel loves him. I've read many quotes from him about how he is improving.......I think he is pretending his ankle injury is better than it is. He hasn't looked the same since last season.
The OLINE......I dunno what to say......on paper they are desent.........The tackles are great when healthy and the RG was in the pro bowl last season. We need a center and someone to presssure 2nd year man Dockery ( the guy who Glover ate alive )
Ramsey needs some competition from Hasselbeck........Timmy is matts brother therefore he may have the same genes for a great QB.......If Timmy stepped up next season I would be fine with PR on the bench.....
Defense needs a pass rusher.....that will come in the 2nd or 3rd round......If they draft a pass rusher in the first it just shows the oline is good enough and just need time to gel........
2005 draft~
1st- DE
2nd or 3rd- CE
_____________________
We don't need any WR's because Coles will get surgery after the season is over and 50-50 should be beaten out by Jacobs.......FINALLY....
As for the TE....hmmm.....Maybe an undrafted guy I dunno......The guy who caught the TD today is Good but not great......Cooley is already a clutch H-Back.....

H*ll, that's EASY...
You rebuild that pitiful offensive line... that should be priority one at Redskins Park this spring and summer...
No other priority is anywhere near as important...

Start Ramsey all year (would love to see him driving our bus), get another WR and hire the Bronco's line coach, Portis is a system back, he will never lead redskins to a championship (too fragile)..
