Whats the scoop on Bryant - He has the size to be a NT - 335/340 ? on conditioning?

With the Jrs. I'll give this year's DT's a C-/D.
Without them it's an F-.

Wow, I'm kinda surprised at that. I think there are maybe 4 guys that could be first round picks depending on team needs. It will be interesting to see how they grade out.

Strength of this draft is DE/OLB types :D

I read a ton of these draft guides and this is what I gather (again, this isn't firsthand knowledge). The rap on Bryant, Hawthorne and Fields is that they take plays off and aren't in the best condition (ala Willie Blade). They do seem to have the size to be play the nose though. Johnson (probably amid first rounder), Patterson, Cody and Babineaux lack the size to be true nose tackles. Castillo's has decent size and a good motor, and, according to PFW, could push into the lower first round.

Keep your eye on Ngata. Rob Boomer Rang has him as his number one prospect regardless of class. I have seen some mocks with him in the second round. mark it down...he will be a high first if he declares.
Also, one of our high picks will be used on a DT.

Same with Wright, who is probably the most talented... But then some UT people argue that he's been injured and keyed on by offenses. I'm pretty sure his numbers are down this year, but several big time DTs in the last few years have had worse final seasons than earlier ones as offenses have taken notice of them.

The Haloti Ngata kid sure is mentioned alot from what I read.
Is he really that special?
I've never seen him play.

First of all take out anyone who resembles Glover. BP likes em 320 ish and is on record saying so. This team is going to have to be built to go into Philly/GB in December/January and win eventually.
I like Hawthorne, Wright and Castillo. Doesn't sound like Ngata is coming out unfortunately. Best DT I saw this year is Watson and he's not coming out. 2003 Wright was unstoppable......down this year. Down the board I like Atiyyah Ellison at Missouri a lot as 4-3 DT and 3-4 DE.
Spears is #1 DL on my Cowboys board. 4-3 DE or DT and 3-4 DE. Our Richard Seymour.

I'm never convinced a guy isn't declaring until the day after the deadline... All that $$$$$$$$ has a way of changing minds....
LSU
Is a nice 3-4, 4-3 DE swing guy. Well coached in that. He'd be a stud draft pick for us.

I'm with you 100% on drafting a DT. Get someone who compliments Glover, not a copy of him.

Seems like a terrible year for DTs. Usually, that results in reaches and busts. Is Shaun Rogers worth two first round picks? This draft is kind of weak all over, outside of CB and OLB.
Haven't seen Ngata play, but I like what I've read and his body size is perfect for the type of DT/NT we need. Probably won't be coming out, but I really like Gabe Watson too. 1st Team All Big Ten.
Another guy...
Claude Wrotten, LSU (6-3/310/Jr) - Only played one year at LSU so might be unlikely to leave, JC transfer. 24 solo tackles (41 total), 5 sacks, 11 TFL, 2 FF. Low, wide base gives him very good position and isn't on the ground much. Good quickness. Agressive off the snap.
