LEt's assume the following.
Vinny is the next Joe Montana. Henson and Romo are complete faliures. And this team is still sitting at home during the playoffs. Why in the world would still play Vinny and not get the other two some playing time? Parcells has went from genius to boob in 16 games flat.

Interesting!!!
The Dallas media said the same thing about the Coach in your avatar in 1988.
Randy Galloway had some great articles back then. My best was his claim that teh Cowboys got robbed by the Vikings in Hershel trade.

They had to give Vick a chance to count the zeros on the FAT SB check he got a couple of days earlier.
Of course they had ALL-PRESEASON QB Matt Schaub "the real QB on the Falcons" lead the team to an impressive loss. :D

One more chance at a career ending injury. nothing major, only a torn ACL or a torn achiles.

biggest waste of cap space ever...I cant believe they gave him that kind of money...well correction I can, its the Falcons
Vick is a mediocre QB...great scrambler...great speed, but lousy passer...I wont be surprised at all if they lose their opening playoff game

what does this say about Henson and Romos abilities if BP is not willing to get them playing time in a meaningless game? I dont think BP would be on vinnys jock so much if one of these guys were >= Vinny.
This is not good.

It's almost impossible to accurately read exactly what BP is trying to do.
On one hand, he says either Romo/Henson has a better than average chance of starting next year.
So you would figure in a meaningless game, he'd want to check them out.
On the other hand, he wants to put them with a solid surrounding cast, so that means he won't play them now.

Vick ran out of necessasity. He was so good he account for a 1/3rd of the Falcons rushing TDs. He was the 2nd leading rusher in on the team. It'll be hard to convince any football fan that Reeves designed an offense that featured vick as the back-up RB.

if he stays healthy for more than a handful of plays this yr (because Vick can only play if Vick is a 110%), we can discuss his awful QB stats after the season and see whats what then

Here are Vicks stats: 11-3 team record :o

Vick is probably the most overrated QB in the history of the NFL...already.
But, he's a d@mn good RB. Problem is, he doesn't play runningback.
Of course, Tomlinson would be a below average QB too, if they moved him to QB, but he is a RB like he should be, so he is still great. Speaking of Tomlinson..........
Falcons=Vick
Charger= Tomlinson, Brees, Dwight
Winners-Chargers!
The greatest fleecing in the history of the NFL.

I agree, having said that Vick could still develope his skills as a passer but right now he is a great RB who happens to play the QB position but he is not a great QB in the sense that most QB's are judged by

While I'm sure there have been many instances of players who look like All World in practice but look lost in games, I doubt there have been many instances of vice versa.
If Henson and Romo can't master their assignments in the controlled environment of practice, its not going to suddenly "click" when you throw a thousand more variables into the equation in a real game.
As fans and media, you get to let your imaginations to conjure of how prepared Henson and Romo are to play. Parcells knows. He's watched them on a daily basis for 5 months. Keep believing in Santa Claus. Keep believing in the Easter Bunny. But most of all .... keep believing Henson is on par with Ben Roethlesberger and Eli Manning. Don't let this cruel world that innocence away from you.

I dont believe Henson is on par with the rookies you mentioned. I also dont believe Parcells would have played any of those rookies over the all mighty Testaverde either.
The "other" baseball project Hutchinson who was so easily dismissed had a 66.3 QB rating the games he started here three years ago.
He has a 73.6 rating so far this year in Chicago.
Do I want Hutch back. Nope. But I kind of beleive that Henson could do at least what Huch has done.
You act as if Vinny is actually good. It is not like I am asking a veteran with some upside to be benched in favor of an unknown quantity.
This is Vinny Testaverde. 42 years old. QB rating of 74.3. 20 INTs.
The guy has nothing to offer.
Studying game film is great and all. Getting a few reps during the week is good and all as well. Nothing compares to going out there on gameday.
Again, I would not want him out there if Dallas was playing for something. This year has been a lost cause for weeks now.
We have two young guys and our coach can not find a way to get them in.
Lets play Vinny though, because those vets have been playing at such a high level this year it would not be fair for them to suffer through some young QBs growing pains.

Hey Sarge....I watched that Raven game yesterday.....well, I watched the Henson drive....they blitzed him on a few plays..applied pressure on another...They were clearly making an effort....and Henson executed that drive beautifully....I might even say, it was one of the best drives we had all season..

Now I want you to make decisions, and not that stoopid ole Parcells. I guess you could say that I've .... changed my mind.
I'll use the same analogy I always use...
I'm a musician...I LOVE the music of John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater....he's been one of my strongest musical influences...
His last album stunk to high heaven...
By saying his last album stunk, it doesn't mean that all of a sudden I think all of his albums stink...or that the next one will...
Parcells has stunk this season...

Sorry Juke. That answer is not going to fly with Parcells' Acolytes. Bottom line: you're either with 'em or against 'em. And you aint with 'em unless you recognize that Parcells is above criticism. Join the cult.

you never know...maybe one or both of them has earned it, but Bill doesnt want to play them over Vinny
we'll never know

Hopefully Vinny does this team a fvor and retires this offseason. Don't know if I can watch another season with him under center.

Well, I'm really not all that concerned about whether it flies for someone else...it flies for me....
On your job, if your performance has been bad ALL year...and your boss calls you in to say so...is it valid for you to explain away your poor performance by saying "Yeah but heck, I sure was good last year"???
Speaking of "not flying"...that isn't gonna fly for any of us....so I am really unsure of why we extend greater lattitude to a coach, a player, etc than would be extended in our own lives...
That's not to say you should be put on an iceberg and sent out to sea....but uh, if that poor performace continues, I'd think a nice heavy Parka and thick mittens would be advised...

Dat durn purcells aint startin no youngins, he startin dat ole Testverde who aint worf a darn. Now, I know I wuz the first one last year who cried that we had too many young quarterbacks and we need to brung in a vetrun to play, but I dun changed my mind this year. This year we need to quit playin vetruns and start playin youngins. This offseason I want to bring in another vetrun to replace our vetrun, but never play that vetrun and only play young'uns.
Last year I thought Zimmer was a good'un, then he was a bad'un, and now he's a good'un again because Parcells made him a bad'un when he was really a good'un. If you catch my drift.
I also know I loved Eddy George when we signed him, cuz I didn't trust no young'un, but I dun changed my mind on him too. We need to trust the yungin, and quit bringing in vetruns. .
You see ... Last year I thought Purcells was a good'un, but now I think he's a bad'un. Parcells has a conpiracy ginst young'uns .. aside from Torrin Tucker, Al Johnson, Julius Jones, Jason Witten, Terrance Newman, Kalen Thornton, Willie Blade, and a handfull of others, he don't never play no youngins. Never. I useta think that Dave Campo didn't have no strict players on dis team and I wanted Purcells to install my way or the highway. Now... guess what ...... I dun changed my mind ..... and think my way or the highway iz stoopid. And so iz Purcells. He don't play no youngins, I tells ya. Except for trustin ole Pete Hunter. He should have brought in a vetrun instead of trustin a young'in. Parcells puts too much faith in the young'ins .... when he aint playin'um that is.
Jerry .... I didn't want you makin no decisions, cuz I didn't think you was a good'un. maybe Parcells knows this was not his best job coaching this year

Why wait until next year to correct the error of your ways? Parcells has had two golden opportunities (some would say he's had more) to gain valuable experience for his young QBs these past two games, but has chosen instead to chase a few meaningless victories. In the circumstances, his promises to change things next year, though we can always hope, ring somewhat hollow. Sort of like the crack addict that says he's off the stuff for good....starting tomorrow.

It is a shame but it is not just here it is throughout American society now...
check out the political scene to see what I mean... people calling other people anti-american for having an opinion that does not concur with theirs
or the words like real americans (would or would not...whatever thier agenda) same with things like Real Cowboy fans wouldn't or would depending upon what their usually very narrow view is...
and you got 8 years of Cowboy Fandom on me but it is nice to be considered a young - un again

Pops- I am so uninterested in this team right now because of BP it's saddening/maddening.
I hate Parcells. This team is WAY farther away from truly competing it's not funny IMO/FWIW.
Happy New Year daddio.
The sad thing is that when we finally get a situation where the fans don't have to be split on Carter any more, now they're split and vicious regarding Parcells and the QB's.
Not that we fans have anything to do with the team or how they perform, but it does take some of the fun out of sharing your opinions here because just as with the CArter fiasco, there is a faction that ridicules and attacks anything one says regarding Parcells or the QB's, good or bad.
I guess I'm old enough to actually remember a few years back when we were all basically on the same page and could talk football without any major attacks.

If BP thinks these QB's (romo/Henson) need to be handled with the utmost sensitivity, what does that tell you about them?
What it means to me is the search continues....

I thank you
I was drawing on my own self experience because I too suffer from these maladies... I could also throw in there the lack of energy...talking to one's self...and needing reading glasses but those probably don't apply
and then I look at Vinny and think that I am only 4 or 5 years older than him

Right...so EVEN he can say it about himself...so the sin in some of us saying it is???
But many people dont just leave it at the fact that he's had a truly sucky year, now do they?
When you start talking about how the team is getting worse or is worse off now than it was a couple years ago is when you start to sway from reality.
The only way this team was going to get better from where it was before he got here was by adding some young true talent. If Jones and Witten and Johnson and T-New to name a few dont fit that Bill (no pun intended) I dont know what does. It doesnt even matter if one wants to give Bill any of the credit for getting those guys.. just by getting them means we're better off.
Course thats just a start. We still need at least that many more. But this notion that because he went 10-6 and Playoff appearence to going under .500 somehow proves he's clueless anymore doesnt wash. If doing that proved anything theres gobs of coaches that are clueless because these days it's no shocker for teams to go to the SB one year and fall to .500 or worse the next. Even without having signed Vinnie T and EG to seal the deal. ;)

Hey Sarge....I watched that Raven game yesterday.....well, I watched the Henson drive....they blitzed him on a few plays..applied pressure on another...They were clearly making an effort....and Henson executed that drive beautifully....I might even say, it was one of the best drives we had all season..
Soooo...that's the long way of saying that I agree with you.
I also agree with me too. He looked very good in the short time he was in there against a SERIOUSLY good defense.
But, Parcells doesn't want to get him hurt or ruin his psyche against a defense decimated with injuries.
Bullshat. Let the guy play for cripe sakes. God forbid we go 6-10 instead of 7-9.

I'll say this...Henson has looked better in his short time than Eli Manning has all year and Eli has started kbow what, 7 games? In other words, we have a better D than the Giants, and Henson cant play worse than Eli, so why not play Henson?

Aikman sucked. Peyton Manning sucked. Terry Bradshaw sucked as rookies. It is EXPECTED for a rookie to suck.
The point is, Henson/Romo might as well get in their now while the outcome of the game is essentially meaningless.
No one is saying Henson/Romo is or will be the saviour. It is expected that each will/would take some lumps.
Fact is...........a rookie HAS to take his lumps sooner or later (with very few exceptions ie: Roethlisberger).
I just don't understand the point of starting VT against the Giants. It's pointless IMO/FWIW. It serves no purpose.

This amazes me. How can you say that Henson has really sucked? He played one half of his first pro game ever.
Roethlisberger was 12 of 20 for 176 yards, 2 INTs and 2 TDs his first whole game.
He was 12 of 22 for 163 with 1 TD and 1 INT in his second game.
Henson was 10 of 18 for 56 with 1 TD and 1 INT in a single half. Is that so much worse then Roethlisberger?
Young QBs gotta start somewhere. It's a damn shame that so many are so quick to judge this guy on a single half of football.
Anybody out there ever gotten a good job but had no experience at all? How did you do your first day on the job? Did you know everything? Could you have gotten through the day on your own if you hadn't had help? Would it be fair to say that in those circumstances, you would deserve to be fired or never given another opportunity?
I guess I just don't get it.
