I know Hutch is no longer a Cowboy and I am not wishing we had him back. I am looking at his QB rating of 73.6 this year with the bears.
The year he started several games here in Dallas he had a 66.3 QB rating. His situation is much like Henson.
Is it really so far fectched to beleive that Henson could put up a Hutchisonesque QB rating of 73.6.
Now keep in mind Vinny is setting the world on fire with a 74.3 QB rating.
This is exactly why I am not buying that Henson should not be starting.

If starting Hutch quickly was such a good idea, then why is he no longer playing for the Cowboys?

I dont understand your point really.
All I am saying is it unreasonable to think that Henson could put up Hutch like numbers?
If Vinny was a rookie BP would have benched long ago. Vinny is performing like a Hutchinson only minus the fumbles.
Is it the best thing in the world to start Henson right now? For most teams probably not.
We are not most teams. We are 6-9 and starting a 42 year old QB.
It is not like Vinny is good and he should be starting next year.
He is not good nor should he start next year.

I don't think it has anything to do with Vinny it has to do with Parcells feeling that Henson is not ready

I totally agree with your statement. Henson is probably not ready. Just as Eli is not ready.
My argument is this season has been a lost cause for a while. Why not get Henson some playing time.
Henson may not be ready to start but unfortunately we are starting a QB who is no longer ready to start.

It is the coaches call. I know many here do not care for Parcells but his record of turning franchise around gives me the confidence that Parcells does understand what he is doing. You don't turn 3 franchises around by accident he knows what he is doing and fans just need to show some patients. I do not think Bill is looking to build a 1 year team which is why he did not go on a wild spending spree in FA

Huchinson's numbers are a tad misleading - he had a good game against Minnesota (who hasn't?) and then has been God-awful for 3 games. He had 50% completion rates against Jax and Houston (and 59, 52 QB ratings respectively), and threw for all of 112 yards against Detroit. Those are not world-beater defenses either.
His 'good' game against Minn, he only threw for 212. Even Vinny managed to top 300 against them.
So I find it hard to reason that Hutch has really improved any from his time on the field, this year or last, despite what his misleading QB rating is.

Some Vinny Testaverde Stats:
69.0 Clevland
41.3 Cincinnati
18.9 Baltimore (That is bad no matter how good B More defense is)
68.9 Seattle
42.6 New Orleans (Worst defense in the NFL...I think)
58.0 Philadelphia
Again it is not like if Henson played we would be sitting some All Star on the bench.
I keep hearing he is not ready. We will have poor QB play. Look at the man he would be replacing. It is Vinny. Vinny is a very very bad QB.
I would totally understand if Dallas had a Vet who is performing marginally well. The fact is Dallas starting QB is one of the worst in the league.
There is only one NFL QB who has started 15 games who is worse than Vinny. That is Kyle Boller.
The argument that Henson should be starting has to be taken into context, and in my opinion it never is.
The context is Vinny is awful and the team stinks (6-9).
I don't believe Hutch or Q would have started as rookies for Bill.He places a high priority on how the qb leads the team ,obviously he does not put much stock in the rating system.

I dont beleive that Hutch, Q, Ben R, Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers or any other rookie would have started over Vinny this year.
I beleive that would be a mistake.
Many people just assume Dallas will go get a Hasselbeck or Brees next year. Chances are neither will be available and if they are, there are no guarantees they will end up in Dallas.
Time to develop a QB if you ask me.

Hutch has lousy pocket awareness. He has a slow release. He doesnt have much to work with on offense. But he is puttin up a QB rating in the 70s. Henson is more athletic and has good pocket awareness. Much faster release and smarter. It really woulda been interestin to see how Henson woulda come along if he stayed the starter from the Bears game on. But oh no....the worlds only perfect coach the only coach who has never made a wrong decision.....Bill Parcells already has decided Henson aint worth given any time to after just 1/2 a game.

Agree. Just look at McNair, Culpepper and Pendelton. Sit and learn!

Who's Pendelton?
Here is another possible take. Not only does Bill have to prepare a QB next year, but he also has to try to prepare and evaluate guys like Copper, Crayton, Ryan, Pierce, Jones, Lee, etc. If an ineffective QB is playing, it makes it difficult to evaluate the rest of those guys. Perhaps sticking with Vinny allows him the opportunity to evaluate more positions and players than if Henson or Romo had started.

I think that's plossible but to be honest, most of the players mentioned have had ample time to play with Vinnie. I would expect that evaluations have already been made on most of these players.

Chad couldn't pass (or maneuver) his way out of paper bag, that's the difference.
You're thinking too much about it.

Because Big Bill has gone senile… He has made so many mistakes this year not just limited to the offseason, it is insane.

Yeah, who is Pendelton? Maybe he meant Chad from the Jets. Only Pendleton I know is Terry who played baseball for St Louis and Atlanta...eh, but we don't want to talk about baseball players, right? :D

I guess you didn't see the Bears vs. Lions last weekend. If the refs didn't blow the call (ie the 43 yd touchdown pass at the end of the game which was an obvious completion), Hutch wins his second game in a remarkable comeback. His QB rating would have been 98. He had no ints and a completion rate of greater than 60%. The Bears do not have a decent OL. In fact their OL is worse than ours. I think he shows substantial improvement, certainly more than VT has over the last 20 years.

Too bad some supposed Cowboy fans can't come to grips with that.
When will some of you guys get it through your heads that Henson was never supposed to play this season in the first place???

Money hungry like giving up 17 MILLION to come back to football for 3.5 million.

I think it has everything to do with Henson.
The plan from the day he was signed was to not play him this year. Look no further than his contract details for proof.
The fact that team sucked it up this year is not necessarily a valid reason to stray from the plan of not playing a QB who hasn't thrown a football in anger in three years.
You can disagree all you want, and you are entitled to your opinion, but unless you go to practice everyday and see day in and day out what Henson does you can't unequivocably say that Henson should be starting.
NOTE: This is NOT a "Trust Parcells at all costs" statement.
This is a "I trust him more than I trust you" statement.
See the difference?

Although I was for sitting Henson this year, I would have like to see him get into a few more games near the end of the season. I would have liked to see Romo in there as well. Romo has had plenty of time to acclimate himself into the NFL. This team is in dire straights for a QB, let’s leave the bus drivers to city planners.
