KISS Concert Question

My daughters boyfriend suprised her by purchasing four tickets to see Kiss in Concert. He only did it to surprise my grandson because he wants to look like Gene Simmons on HOlloween. I don't really know that much about KIss, have never listed to their music, and they are are a freaky looking group. Now my daughter, her mother and I are questioning whether my grandson should be allowed to go. Is a Kiss concert a decent environment for an 8 yr old. All you hard rockers let me know......

A kiss concert is nothing like the death metal groups or whatever.

But It will have the usual suspects doing the usual things.

Not sure if an 8 year old will notice those things or not.

all in all I would imagine an 8 year old would be bored!

Hard Rock, pyro, fire, blood, broken instruments.......but all part of the show. Nothing truly demonic or whatever. Kiss puts on an awesome show.

Just so you know the two main members, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, have both supposedly been alcohol and drug free for their life. Also, I believe Stanley is recovering from some type of cancer or something.

At any rate, Kiss is one concert I would have no issues with my children attending, if I had children. Others would be Def Leppard and Scorpions.

Besides, most of the hardcore Kiss Army members are nearly AARP age now.

...grandson is easily scared by loud noises, loud flashes and bangs, a dark environment and people in painted faces it may not be the place for him.

I would compare this to being no different than going to a monster truck show less the exhaust smell.

I can't vouch for the audience, but knowing one of the band members well there is no worries about hearing obscenities or seeing the band promote substance abuse.

If you missed them at the Pavilion they are coming to Beaumont on November 28th. There were still great tickets available as of Saturday.

First concert I ever saw was KISS when I was 13, I'm 44 now. :)

I've seen KISS 3 or 4 other times over the years as well as well as just about every other hard rock/heavy metal band in the 80's and early 90's.

With that said, KISS really isn't a hard rock show at this stage of their career, it's an oldies show. I imagine that the majority of the fans will be in the 30's and 40's.

I think it closed about 10 years ago if I'm remembering correctly. I've been in Houston about eight years so my Beaumont memeory is a little fuzzy.

Do you guys get A&E for a TV channel? If you do I would highly suggest you sit down and watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels. You will never see a man more dedicated to his family.

The man is a marketing genius and on top of that he is very intelligent and very devoted to our troops. He raises a lot of money for the Wounded War Vets charity and visits quite often. If you want a rock in roll role model -- Gene Simmons is the one you want your grandson looking up to.

I saw KISS in high school and I was about 15. I knew the few major songs and I saw people of all ages, but mostly older adults. You will see people in full on KISS costume, some in kiss T-shirts, and some people in normal wear. He's 8 -- I would let him go. I only knew a few songs, but I was never bored. They don't swear or promote drugs or drinking. And when your grandson is older he can say he saw one of the biggest selling acts ever. They are popular because of their fan following and how they market themselves. I can't say their music is that good, because I don't think it is.

Where are their seats? If they are on the floor he won't be able to see much, but if they are up higher I think he could have a lot of fun.

And I have seen some pretty hard acts in my 30 years on earth. KISS would be one of the more tame acts I have seen.

He's a real down to earth guy in person. Very well spoken and very knowledgeable about a wide range of topics.

my brother was a pastor of a church about 15 or 20 minutes north of Beaumont, Sillsbee? KOuntze? LUmberton? or one of those small backwoods community and we used to do The Other Place a lot. Memories!!! Also did the Bragg light back in the day. that was a hoot and a half. Saw that damn thing one night and scared the living daylights out of me. That part of Texas is haunted.

As a vet of several KISS concerts, I would say you have no worries. While they may not be completely family friendly, there isn't anything over the top either. 8 years old and going to see KISS? I'm jealous.

Well he went to Kiss last night and he called me on his way home at 11:15. he said it was awesome. My daughter said that he got so much attention because of the way he was dressed. I talked to him after school today and asked him if he almost fell asleep. He said he did but made it thru. One of his young classmates told him that he had some make-up on and wondered why. he told her he was up all night at a concert. Here is his pic. He is the one in the black hair and white shirt.

I think Gene is a Mensa member. I know he speaks many langueges. Have you seen his roast that benifited the wounded vets? Man he cried like a baby. Really touching to see.
