What ya think? Could his future in the NFL possibly be in a Cowboys unifrom? I know hes just a sophmore. But im just saying if we dont get a QB by the time he enters the draft what you guys think? Id love to have him after watching the game today

1. Henson is going to be the guy. I don't have the slightest doubt about this at all. Too talented.
2. Young's athletic ability is unquestioned. His QB skills are up and down. That will hurt his chances in the draft as well as in actual chances to show his ability.
3. Priority #1 for QBs is accuracy and his is questionable at times.
4. For some reason Jerry Jones and Scouting Department rarely draft players from the state of Texas despite some great talent there. I've never understood why either. Not saying never, just rarely.

I was extremely impressed with him tonight.....it was the fisrt time I've seen him play. I don't know much about him. So I'll just leave it at that.
Teams are putting RB's at QB and just spreading it out and letting them run. This is not good for development of traditional QB's. It may work on Saturdays and Vick is a freak who will eventually be broken on Sundays.
That kid was outstanding today. Its entertaining.

Vince Young will be a wideout like Randel El, and Anquan Boldin, and Ronald Curry, etc. etc.
His passes are downright horrible.

Coming out of college I thought just like you stated here. I said he was too small, etc. He proved me wrong.
I enjoy watching him play and I am not at all ashamed to say he proved me very wrong and I think will keep doing it.

Some coach wanting to run the Red Gun offense or the Run-N-Shoot will snap him up. In two years he will be able to throw better. He could be something similiar to Vick or Andre Ware........who knows.

I agree...his best chance of being an NFL player is as a wide receiver...and a long shot, or maybe a defensive back.

IMO Young is a better version of Rasheed Marshall from WVU.
Rasheed has been invited to the combine this off season...as a WR.
Oh for those who don't know...he had more rushing yards in the Big East then McNabb and Vick.
Problem is that is about all he did as his passing was so streaky....but man the guy was a warrior today playing with some really bad ribs....too bad WVU held true to form and choked in the bowl games.

I've only seen him this one game, but it looks to me as though he's got a bright future. There aren't too many sophomore QBs that couldn't use some refinement to their game. When you consider he started as a freshman on a nationally recognized team and only lost one game, then followed it up by going 11-1 and basically carrying the team on his back in a comeback Rose Bowl win, well, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Out of curiousity I compared his and Vick's career stats. In passing, Vick topped him in yards per completion, TD and INT %, Young has a higher completion % at this point. Rushing, Young has the edge over Vick in yards, yards per carry, and TDs scored. Vick's (NFL)QB rating his 1st year was 114.47 and 80.09 his second, while Young's was 78.28 his 1st year and 80.71 his second.
Any way you look at it, they're completely different players. All credit to Young though. He had an amazing game, especially when you consider Michigan basically nullified Benson, injured or not.

Vince Young can enter the draft THIS year as a WR and he'd be no worse then a second round pick.
His passing skills are there, he doesn't use very nice mechanics on his shorter throws but it gets there with a lot of zip. If mack brown is any kind of a coach, YOung could run away with the Heisman imo...

Vince Young is going to play on Sundays and I suspect it will be at QB. Somebody mentioned that he is not the same type player that Vick is and I agree with this. I actually believe that he's more physically talented then Vick was in college. Young is physically astonishing. Nothing against Vick but there not the same. If I were going to compare Young to a former NFL player, physically, it would be a young Randle Cunningham. For those of you who don't remember, when Randle was young, he was flat out amazing physically as well.
It's really unfortunate that he doesn't have a great staff working with him. I watched this kid throw a ball 65 yards effortlessly, I mean off his back foot and with no windup, in the HS ARMY All Star game. His mechanics are horrid. He losses so much velocity when he goes side arm but make no mistake, this kid can throw the football a tone. If he were at USC, he would be the hands down best QB in the country. You would have never heard of Lienhert. Really unfortunate he doesn't have better people working with him.

I doubt it. To be honest, I think we have to figure the QB out before then. If I were picking a QB, it would be this year and it would be Alex Smith. IMO, he is the best QB in the country.

BIG UT fan here but will be the 1st to say that Young needs a lot of working on his passing skills, he is still very young and should stay at UT for 2 more years before he even thinks about the Pros. Even at that he still may never develope his passing skills to the level he would need in the Pros. At 6'05" and with great speed I think he would have a better chance playing WR in the NFL but as I said there is still time for him to develope as a QB so we shall have to wait and see if he can progress.

I have to agree. He has been at UT for 3 seasons, been to Steve McNair's camp for several years and still needs work on his passing. I wish someone would do something about his throwing motion. Seems like a lot of wasted movement in his arms and he doesn't look like he gets anything from his lower body. He will definitely need the next two years to develop into a NFL caliber passer. Meanwhile he will be fun to watch as a college QB.

I agree. Don't get me wrong I like Young, he is fun to watch but if he has any hope about being an NFL QB he has a long ways to go. If he does not show vast improvement in his passing he can forget playing the position in the NFL but with his athletic ability they will find a place for him in the NFL. Right now I could see him playing WR in the NFL

I saw Carter play, and I saw Vince Young play. What I saw was not impressive, as a matter of fact it was horrible. All I would watch were QB sweeps for three yards or so. No completions were impressive, no runs were impressive. You can't tell me he's played awesome every game and every snap. I never said I saw alot, nor was I judging him. From what I saw he wasn't very good.
Of course, if I was to watch TO play in one game and one game only against the Cowboys a few weeks ago, I would say I saw nothing special. Am I saying he's nothing special? No, just going by what I would have saw. That's all I said, don't wet yourself.
Is it that hard to get? Perhaps you should receive the "Most Moronic Post of the Year" award..? Better yet, "Most Moronic Poster" just so you can one up me.

Anyways, why is everyone all over Young? Wow, he ran all over an absolutely terrible Michigan defense. Whoop dee doo, let's give him the Heisman  .
I wonder what he's going to do next year without his All-American runningback and the same terrible receivers from last year.

Havent you people already figured out that a RB doesnt make a good QB? I beliebe Mike Vick just got his tail handed to him, and he is faster and has a stronger arm than VY. VY will be below average without his All-American RB. C-Bong was the only thing making him look good, Michigan was so fixed on Benson, VY used his RB skills and beat them.

22 of those "student athletes" were on the Academic All-Big 10 team.
And I highly doubt your "quarterback" is going to rush, much less pass for 150 yards against our defense. Especially since it's under the lights in Ohio Stadium.
P.S. Einstein... it's not "the shoe" it's The 'Shoe and/or The Horseshoe and/or Ohio Stadium. It's a proper noun, FYI.

I don't. I've seen Jamaal Charles play in person twice. Receiver is a problem though, no doubt about that.Sure, Jamaal Charles is good, but he won't get the kind of attention that Benson did. Every defense that Young goes up against next year is going to have a big red target on his chest.
I just don't understand how people think that he's a Heisman candidate. He doesn't have Benson as his safety net anymore. And teams are going to force him to beat them through the air, which he can't do.
