View Full Version : The Eagles Exit...

The Birds are 1-2 (Should have been 0-3) and have only scored 29 total points over the last 3 weeks. The next game they play wont be until Jan.16th. I can't imagine this team bouncing back and playing on all cyclinders after a horrible exit out of the regular season. I've heard no team has ever lost their last 2 games and have gone on to win the Super Bowl. I can certainly understand Reid's motive to not take any chances on losing anymore key players but I think these guys needed to prove to themselves that they can win without T.O. They can't be gleaming with confidence after the way they've looked over the past month. They haven't put up more than 17pts since back in week 13 against the Packers.

The Eagles are fortunate the NFC is so weak this year.

In any case, it's obvious how much the TO loss is hurting their passing offense. Their other WRs are mediocre - at best.

I think teams will just tee off on Westbrook and stifle the running game of McNabb as well.

I'm intrigued by how Philadelphia will look in the playoffs. They're essentially a different team offensively without Owens in the lineup. I thought it was essential these last two games they reassure themselves they can win without him in the lineup. Instead, they went through the motions without their key players, losing both games, and don't really know what they can do without him in the lineup.

reid is holding back for the playoffs.but, face it, they are NOT the same team since TO went down. it's wide open in the NFC. but they are merely lining up to be cannon fodder in the superbowl. the real superbowl will be the AFC championship game.

This game didn't matter at all for the Eagles. Their real season starts in two weeks. With that being said Eagles fans need to be worried seeing their team spanked at home by the Bengals. It can't give them a good feeling that outside of one drive against sT. louis they don't know just how much Owens' injury hurts. I still think they are the favorites to reach the super bowl but just like past years the Eagles are not purring all all fronts as the postseason arrives.

We picked a bad year to suck. The NFC is super weak. If we could have snuck into the playoff's, who knows. It could be us getting tuned up by NE/Pitt in the Super Bowl.

What pisses me off is the game we lost we should have won. Hard to believe 2 more wins could have got us in.

As for Filthy, Unless McNabb plays lights out, they will make a quick exit. I'd double Westbrook each play and pound on McNabb each play. All the Campbell's soup in the world won't help them then.

yeah! that's it. reid is merely encouraging the troops by leaving the questions intact.

yeah! that's it. reid is merely encouraging the troops by leaving the questions intact. They had a hell of alot more to lose by playing everybody the last two weeks than they had to gain. The only thing that matters is that they could throw away two games and not worry about the rest of the NFC. That's sad.

There isn't much competition for Philly in the NFC unfortunately. For a team to beat Philly in Philly they need to get physical with the Eagles--like the Buccs and Panthers did the past two years. Get them doubting themselves again and then hit em in the mouth.

Minny, St. Louis, and Seattle all lack the toughness. Falcons could but they are still really unknown. The Packers seem like the best bet but they were embarrassed in Philly a few weeks ago. I think they would play a lot tougher if they met again, but Philly still needs to be considered the favorite.

No kidding... remember in 1992 when the Cowboys wrapped up the NFC East with 2 games left and went out and started to fumble & bumble against the Bears in the last game... I thought Jimmy was going to burst... he was losing his mind on the sideline, of course Jerry bringing Prince Bandar down there didn't help the situation either, but my point is, why just play out the string?? It doesn't make any sense that in a game where MOMENTUM can be huge, you don't worry about entering the playoffs 1) on a 2 game losing streak, and 2)without your best reciever... I would be "vewy, vewy, vewy scaaaad..."

Well, there's always next season...and the season after that...and the season after that...the way the rest of the NFC East looks (*cough*you*cough), if we win the division 10 straight seasons the odds are in our favor.

You do know only one team (1967 Packers) has won the Super Bowl after losing their final two games of the regular season, right??

The NFC Least has to be more competitive next year. It really can't be worse than this year.

Poignant point.

I don't read much into the losses. But what may pose more of a psychological disadvantage is if this team is behind and has to play catch up with the receivers they have.

That's when "not knowing what you can do" or, even more to the point, "knowing that what you have is essentially what lost in the playoffs last year" is going to be a HUGE obstacle.

Don't you know that the Eagles have NEVER won the Super Bowl? We have NEVER won thirteen of our first fourteen games either. The 49ers have never had a record as bad as they have now. No one has ever one as many consecutive games as the Patriots did this season/last season. The team that won the Madden game the day before the Super Bowl won everytime, until last season. No team has ever lost four consecutive NFC Championship games.

That was all history. I would have liked it if Reid played the starters a half today to get some momentum going into the playoffs, but I don't really care if only the Packers won the Super Bowl after losing their last two games.

You can only buck so much history.. this year it seems we have already used up this years allotment... so your Iggles will be watching the Super Bowl from home again this year.
