He needs to get a breather here, sometime. He's constantly grimacing now.

While it may not look like it, we do have some talent at the skill positions. If we only had a line.

I think alot of it is that he is having to break tackles 2 yards deep in the backfield... it HAS to be frustrating...
Warhop needs to be fired... this OL is pathetic... bring Houck back...
He's very special. He and Witten have made this year somewhat bearable. I've loved watching them.

I am absolutely floored by his performance tonight. I mean, he's not only going to be something special, he is something special. Now, this is a banged up G-man defensive line, but taking his performance this season as a whole, this kid could start for our team for the next 10 years.

The only question I have is how many defensive players are going to tear up their ankles when they get juked by Julius in the open field.
Julius should be catching 100 balls a day in the offseason. Getting him into the open field on LBs is such a monumental mismatch - we just have to capitalize on it on more regularly.
On the plus side, he didn't seem to be fighting the ball today on his catches. Hopefully it carries through to next season.

If I'm not mistaken, he finishes the season with 927 total yards. Not bad for a guy who started 7 games.

Julius is the man...I have no doubt that with some good run blocking he could hit 1500 yards...

Very good pick up by Polite on JJ's touchdown too.

amongst the negativity of this season, let us take a step back and realize we have a very, very good back.
Julius was awesome this year. and, it is a pleasure to watch him run.

800+ yards in 8 games. Even nicer. Nobody would have thought that the middle November. A remarkable stat and that combined with the emergence of Witten gives us all something to look forward to.

You should really consider in 7 games. He had less than 10 yards rushing in the Cleveland game when he broke his shoulder.
The other amazing thing about Julius is he did his thing against some pretty good defenses - Ravens, Eagles, Skins.
He absolutely torched Chicago, Seattle and NYG.
Any game when we gave him a fighting chance, he dominated.

Julius' final statistics:
819 yards rushing (4.2 ypc), 7 touchdowns.
109 yards receiving, 17 catches.

Even with this OL if you expand hiis numbers from the games he played it would come up to something like 1800 yds. this year.

Julius has some sweet feet. He easily should reach 1400-1500 rushing and 500-600 receiving over a full season. He definitely needs some help tho. A bigger change-up type RB would really help.

I hope he works out hard during the offseason and come back quicker and stronger. Maybe he can gain 10lbs of muscle. He is going to need it if he is going to carry the rock 25-35 times a game for the whole season.

Why did we ever let Hudson Houck go anyhow?

Julius' final statistics:
819 yards rushing (4.2 ypc), 7 touchdowns.
In his seven starts, Julius rushed for 803 yards -- or 114.7 yards per start. Just how good is 803 yards in a span of seven games? The only season in which Emmitt ever gained more than 803 yards in any seven-game stretch of the regular season was 1995. Emmitt had between 804 and 860 yards in every seven-game span between Games 1 and 11 that season (812 in 1-7, 816 in 2-8, 860 in 3-9, 810 in 4-10 and 8-4 in 5-11). In the 1992 season, Emmitt had 814 yards in the seven-game span including the last five regular-season games and the first two playoff games. And in 1993, he had 836 yards in the same span (last five regular-season games and first two playoffs games). Those were the only times Emmitt ever had a seven-game stretch with as many rushing yards as Julius had in our last seven games -- the first starts of his career.

Adam, tonight on ESPN, they showed the stat of Julius being among the elite in rushing yards through his first seven games. After tonight's 149 yards rushing, where does he rank in his first eight games (or first seven starts, whichever way that stat is tracked)?

Julius certainly is exciting. Without wanting to be a wet rag, however, I should point out that he seems to take a lot of solid hits for a guy that's so elusive. One of the great things about Emmitt was that he never seemed to take a direct hit; defenders seemed to be able to manage only glancing blows. Not so with Julius. Which raises concerns about his durability.

I think you mean Mike Woicik if you are talking about our old strength and conditioning coach. He was released because Switzer didn't want him around (he was a Jimmy guy and Switzer resented it). The players all lobbied when Jerry was going to get rid of Woicik at Switzer's behest, but then later in the season Woicik got pissed when Switzer had the FG kicker boot a meaningless kick late in a game to get a record of 7 per (I think it was against the Pack) and Switzer and Woicik had a big argument about it. After the season they released Woicik. BTW, he's been the strength and conditioning coach for the Patriots for the past few years. I think if we had him back we'd win another 2 or 3 games a year just based on being able to outplay teams late in games. I thought that losing him was a terrible blow, and time has proven me right. We almost always fade down the stretch now.

Last night to me Julius look the best he did all season long. you guys are right the quickness in making those cuts , well I havent seen those kind of quick shifts since barry . But even so when Julius make these cuts its like he never looses any speed, he can change direction and still be running at full speed, this is something ive never really seen a rb do before as well as julius.
I really think we hit the jackpot.
next year under a full year if he stays heathly , he will rush for 1,600 yards

I was thinking the same thing Outlaw. Julius runs great, and has several nice moves, but at the end of the run he is taking some hard shots. It may be a symptom of just pushing for every inch. He may be choosing to expose himself to the bigger hit rather than turning or going down a fraction of a second earlier. I hope this is something he can change as he progresses, or he may not be around much longer.

I think Julius is still in the phase where he wants to impress Parcells on every touch of the football. He will need to learn to protect himself a bit better - Carthon should be teaching him this stuff.
We'll need to bring in a COP battering ram at RB to take some of the strain off of Julius. I was hoping that Lee could fulfill that role for us but looks like BP doesn't like him. There should be a few options in FA or alternatively in the mid rounds of the draft.

Just think how good Jones would be if he didn't have to dodge two defenders in the backfield so often?

Amen. This was even more so evident in the Washington and Philadelphia game. It kind of gets annoying as the viewer, and you can tell Julius gets frusturated with the poor run blocking. It seems as if every play there's a guy Julius has to elude before he can take off.
