Jerry will have one of the worse season ever in selling season tickets
The stands will be plenty empty and lempty seats me less beer sales which means it will hurt even more before the new stadium is ready
Then the boo birds I bet they will Boo all day every time vinny is introduced as the starting qb and everytime he walks on the field every time he makes one of his classic int throws or his patent fumbles it will get worse
In the last 3 weeks because I knew Bill was lying
I fell asleep in a game 1st time ever on a Cowboy game; I quit watching the Redskin game 3rd qtr I was tired of watching the qb and dat dude sux on the field
Then the giants game I came to the PC and started playing my online game at 1/2 time knowing Vinny was going to start the rest of the way; never done that before
Vinny is a disgrace to the star and never ever should wear it again
I dislike Vinny as the QB so bad I rather have Hogboom back at least he was a true Cowboy

If Vinny is the starting Qb next season I'm not going to purchase NFL Sunday Ticket this year. Stomaching one year of Vinny ball is enough to last a lifetime.

it's far from decided - but it wouldn't shock me if VT DID start the season opener.

you are entitled to your opinion, but....
shame on you.
i dont want a 41 year old qb either, but the personal attacks on vinnie are unwarranted. he has been nothing but classy in his time here, and he has played OK. i am not his biggest fan as a player, but as a person he has been admirable.
cant we just leave it at that?
i went to the redskin game, and was embarassed when the fans repeatedly booed vinnie. again, i wanted to see henson as bad as the next guy, but it is a game - a game that vinnie has played hard and with class.
thanks vinnie, for a classy season.
my biggest dissappointment of the season is not having the qb question answered, but the blame for that does not lie with vinnie.

Great Post, Vinny has been nothing but classy. It's not his fault that a coach gave him an opportunity to play football. He didn't come here with the intention of starting. How was Vinny supposed to know that Quincy was going to get suddenly cut just weeks before the start of the season. Vinny has been doing the best that he can do. He never demanded the starting job and never complained when Henson started the Thanksgiving game. If I was Vinny, I wouldn't want to play for us next year. Talk about being placed in a no win situation.

I do not give a rat arse if it is the coaches fault I do not care if he is classy he suxs freakin arse for 90% of his freakin career and that people Boo him so freakin what he deserves it. He is a horrible QB and plays long strechs of football like he is a rookie and this a 18 year vet.
He finaly got a running game and he still is horrible.
Just freakin go away Vinny you are old and make bad decisions

Yup, if Vinny is starting again next year I'll be looking for a hobby to fill my Sunday afternoons. And it'll save me 180 dollars or so (not really sure how much it costs, I just automatically renew it every season).

Remember........Vinny gives us the best chance to win. !:eek:Some times you guys really disguise yourselves as idiots. Does anyone realize that the best chance to win doesn't necessarily mean a good chance to win? There's a HUGE difference when you have a developing rookie and a third stringer in Tony Romo.
Hmm.. rookie who's been removed from the game for years, a third stringer who even struggled in preseason, or a proven guy who's broken many records and has arguably had a hall of fame career? Which guy gives you the BEST chance? VT.
I think it's unfair to say Vinny is a "disgrace to the star."
It's not his fault the team's starting quarterback was caught smoking weed. It's not his fault the team's head coach is so reluctant to play a young quarterback. And it won't be his fault if the general manager and head coach choose to retain him for another season.
I'd agree that this team deserves better than a 41-year old quarterback, and I, too, would prefer for him not to return, but Vinny is only doing what others are putting him in position to do.

If a player isn't playing good and costing us more games than he's winning us what do you expect us to do... cheer him?
Give me a break.

Give me a break. No need to cheer.
Rather recognize that there is a human being down on a field representing your team to the best of his ability and doing everything in his power to win a game.
This is what seperates us from the animals (and Philadelphia).

Okay, so by making poor decisions when we have the lead that are absolutely unnecessary is a player who is doing everything in his power to win a game?
Umm...

You're right....the devil must be throwing the game.
Not something as simple as his best just ain't good enough. We must burn him at the stake. I mean - that subpar QB deserves our ire because he just ain't trying hard enough. Slime.

Say what you want about Vinny. But with him at the helm we got to evaluate some young players. Witten for one. I doubt he makes the pro bowl without Vinny.
Julius would be another. How about Crayton? We learned alot about him the last 2 games. If you have a rookie QB in there, one who hasn't played in over three years and another who probably would of been cut if Quincy hadn't of gotten released. You wouldn't of been able to evaluate these other positions.
Give Vinny his due. Henson will get his chance. You can't build winners over night. And Parcells still has 2 more years of cleaning up what Jerry has provided us the last 10 years.
Even if parcells doesn't make it to the SB in the next two years, I feel the team will have a better core of players and the orginization will be back in contention again.

vinny had every chance to succeed. NOT. we had keyshawn and witten underneath and nobody to stretch the defense. we didn't have anything resembling a running game til after the seasons midway point. the OL started breaking down in protection in the second half of the season. vinny sure had his moments of ineptitude. but as for him being the focus of our failure on offense? vinny was light years ahead of QC in his ability to read coverages and find the open man.

The fact that Vinny wore a star this year is embarrassing. Thinking about all the terrible players over the last few years that have worn the star is sad.
This season for me has felt worse than the 1-15 season. I am very happy this nasty season is over.
I do not want Vinny to be back in a back-up role, because of Parcells extreme man-love of Vinny, i am sure he will find his way into the starting line-up.
Thank you Vinny...now please leave.

I hate to say it but if Vinny is startin here next year I hope some DL from another team knocks him out for the year in a pre-season game. That will be the only we will ever see Henson or Romo get any playin time as long as Parcells is here.

I would reserve this honor for Ryan Leaf not vinny.
:skins: :iggles: :jints: .. in that order!
vinny came here to do as asked. i don't blame him for bill's relunctance to start one of the young qb's. but i really wish bill would stop being so damn stubborn and do everything he can to work the other qb's into the lineup.
just a hunch, but if vinny comes back, he'll probably end up starting again. if not, the first sign of the qb's struggling and you can just about figure parcells will throw vinny back in there.
jerry...make the decison and do everyone in the organization and the fans a favor - tell bill he can't have vinny back next season!!!

The last one I recall was Thanksgiving Day 1990 vs. the Skins at TS. Now, that too might have been a sellout, but it was the last one I remember not being on television locally. I know it doesn't really answer the question accurately, but it's the last regular season game that had the possibility of not selling out.
As we know, NFL rules restrict local markets from showing home games if the game is not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff. Also, there have been a few occasions that local companies have bought up remaining tickets to ensure the game would be aired in the DFW area. That was done a couple times in 1991 that I remember.

Like it or not people, Vinny probably will be back next season unless he decides to retire. This will happen for two reasons. First, we know EXACTLY what he brings to the table and second, compared to anyone else, we'd be getting him on the cheap. I'm talking millions cheaper folks. This is an important figure that needs to be taken into account. Sure, we could probably go out and get Kitna, Fiedler, or some other teams bench warmer, but they are all sitting on that bench for a reason, and there are no guarantees that they wouldn't come in here and be as bad or worse than Vinny has for alot more money.
The key to this whole situation is what Vinnie's role will be on our offense next season and I think it safe to say that Bill and Jerry have every intention of going with Drew or Tony from the outset and using VT primarily as a mentor/backup. BP's already made a statement to that effect (in his press call to the Washington media, wasn't it?) where he stated that we'd pretty much be in the same situation the Redskins are this year. (Something like that, but he was talking about the QB position.)
Parcells is not stupid people. He KNOWS Vinny isn't the answer. He wasn't supposed to be when he was brought in, but limited to a backup role, we'd be hard pressed to find better. All of you BP/Vinny haters would be better off directing some of that anger where it truly belongs, at Quincy Carter.
I'm not saying Vinny's not going to start some games next year, but (provided we stand pat with VT, Drew, and Tony) as the season wears on, we'll see less Vinny on the field and more of one of the kids until towards the middle of the season, we'll have our new starter. The amount of time Vinny spends playing is directly proportionate to how well Drew/Tony progresses.
You detractors can scream 'man love' between BP/Vinny all you want. Parcells reputation is riding on how well he handles the QB situation next year. This will happen because it HAS to.

Aikman's direction leads offense to fifth winning rally, 27-17
11/23/1990
By RICK GOSSELIN / The Dallas Morning News
IRVING – It's still Jimmy Johnson's offense, but in front of a sellout crowd and national television audience Thursday, Troy Aikman put his stamp on it.
Aikman engineered the first victory over a playoff contender in his young career, completing 20 of 31 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 27-17 upset of the Washington Redskins before 60,355 fans at Texas Stadium.

very good post, and as accurate a picture as can be painted at this point...
I am always amazed at how many remedial and borderline retarded fans that come out at the end of the season spouting they will never watch the Cowboys again unless the team does what they want them to do.........
here is a flash for you folks, find a new team, cause what you want don't make a damn to the Cowboys, or the real Dallas Cowboy's fans, and for every one of you that leaves, [ good riddance, hate fair weather fans to begin with], there will be three new fans to replace your whining arses.........
