Julius Jones has moves like Barry Sanders. Julius Jones pick was the only thing Bill did right in the off-season.

give it another year and lets see what the stats look like when they all have a full year of carries on them. Frankly, it looks like a bunch of very similar players to me, at least stat wise.

I think in a draft that didn't have a sure fire stud RB, we did something really smart by trading down.

It might be early, but Julius sure has the moves, vision, power, speed of a stud.

Clearly the best move made by this franchise in 2004.

Keyshawn Johnson
Patrick Crayton (saw him in training camp, can we say Randle El?)
Bruce Thorton wasn't as bad as everyone thought
Kalen Thorton
Having the guts to go into the season with a backup quarterback because your starter was a pothead
Improving upon your draft pick the next year (albeit by a couple of spots)

Not saying that this was one of Parcell's better years...but the team looked a lot better after 10-6 (smoke and mirrors) and before injuries to Glenn, Woodson, 2-3 CBs, Antonio Bryant going looney, Andre Gurode not improving, etc. etc. etc.

It's been a rough season, lots of curve balls, everyone relax those jerking knees and enjoy to playoffs.

A coach's tenure isn't to be judged fully until after several years.

Have a nice Crown on the rocks...

Yeah, we sure did do a lot with those extra pics too.

True on the 1st round pic but what about all the additional pics that we picked up from them last year that we did nothing with.

Actually we took Julius with the extra second we got(Buffalo's pick), we then took Sean Ryan....dunno about that one, Pearce is doing a tad better, but it was a whole 5th rounder. The test of the trade will be Julius' success and what we do with Buffalo's first this year.

You cannot judge the 3 main backs from this year until every one of them play an entire full season. I love what i saw from JJ tonight. He was juking them out of there shorts and i loved it. If we get the right QB,a good O-Line and some pass rush we will be ok.

At the very least, Julius will be fun to watch as the team develops. If we have a QB in Henson, we're in good shape to crest as Philadelphia fades.

Julius just needs to add a little more armor in the offseason and learn to catch better. If he's ever able to get into open space regularly with the short pass, he could be an all-purpose yards leader. He's easily one of the 6 fastest starting RB in the league. Very few LB or safeties can stay with him.

We just need to develop a OL on offense and control the clock. We're not that far away on offense, imo.

The success of our draft day move does not rest upon whether Stephen Jackson or Kevin Jones are successful. The move's success is contingent upon whether JJ is successful. If he is a franchise RB, then we got tremendous value for a rather mediocre 22nd overall pick, because that pick has been improved upon.

JJ has the single most important quality of a feature back - vision. Vision is paramount over all other skills. You need other abilities to support this skill, but all good rbs have some degree of vision.

Julius has phenomenal vision.

Just curious how you think Pierce is doing a tad better. I don't think he's suited up in 4-5 weeks, if he has when is the last time you've seen him.

You can't gauge these guys until they've played a full season. Not one of them really carried the load until November. In JJ's case he had fresh legs, but only played minimally in one game at NFL speed before he took over against Baltimore. KJ and Jackson both had 8 games or so to get used to the game at this level before they took over the primary duties. JJ basically had 1 1/3 of a game played when he went off against Chicago.

No regrets here, even if Ryan doesn't pan out. If we end up with a 2nd round back who gives us 1st round value, plus an extra 1st round pick coming up, that's worth more than that extra 5th round pick. Once you get past the 3rd round, most picks are a crapshoot. Every once in awhile you'll find that second day gem, or quality depth, but there are more that end up working in car washes or something.

I think he meant Ryan and not Pierce.

I believe this is a moot point anyway. Neither Ryan nor Pierce makes this team next year. I wouldn't be surprised if we draft yet another TE.

Didn't Parcells state last year that you can count on him drafting a tight end again this year? Something about guaranteeing he'll draft one every year or something.

Julius showed tonight he's dangerous with the ball in his hands as a pass catcher. He's just got to work on his concentration and consistency as a receiver out the backfield to ensure he's a reliable threat and not a hit-or-miss guy.

Notre Dame didn't require its running backs to do much receiving, so it's still relatively new to Jones. He has good hands, so hopefully with some more experience, he'll grow more comfortable in the role.

Sorry - I was referring to the fact that we signed Pierce to the 53 man roster PRIOR to calling Ryan up from our own.

Neither is exactly dominant - I think both were simply brought in with hopes to find a cheap backup for Dan Campbell (looks like a good idea, now...)
But I agree with Dale - look for the same thing this year.

That may or may not indicate anything about Pierce being better than Ryan. If Parcells wanted to have Pierce, the only way to get him was to claim him off the Ravens' practice squad and put him on our 53-man roster. He could have called up Ryan instead, but then we wouldn't have gotten Pierce. So claiming Pierce doesn't tell us for sure that Parcells liked him better than Ryan, just that he liked him enough to get him.

No argument here - neither seem to be world beaters - but I have seen both in 2 tight end sets, so they are at least seeing playing time....

The pass play he caught at the beginning of the game hints at another dimension for JJ. He is so fast that he was down the sideline for 25 yards before they knew what hit them. His speed is amazing. It seems like sometimes there isn't a hole there and his speed allows him to just sqeeze through two or three players.

I remember saying how fast he was at the beginning of the season and got laughed at.... I'm so glad I can finally say... I TOLD YOU SO! :D

You might as well Tatum Bell to the buzz list. He looked like a pretty good running back and in Denver you don't even need to be slightly better than average to have a big year.
