The board needs some cheering up. These are the last few years #11 picks:

1998 - Tra Thomas (Philly)
1999 - Daunte Culpepper (Minnesota)
2000 - Ron Dayne (N.Y. Giants)
2001 - Dan Morgan (Carolina)
2002 - Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis)
2003 - Marcus Trufant (Seattle)
2004 - Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh)

Some pretty good players with the exception of Dayne.

I can't recall now, but was Freeney considered a top-10 prospect the year he came out? If we stand pat with the pick, we should have a chance of getting a legitimate prospect -- perhaps even a top eight prospect -- given the nature of players falling, and reaches on draft day.

Ahhh....draft day falls.....brings back memories of Emmitt not being fast enough, thus falling waaaay down.

While disappointed in a poor season, I am excited about this offseason. With these draft picks, I will be researching players MUCH more vigorously than last year.

Freeney was a very controversial pick when he went. Some people loved it and some people thought he was too small to be a DE.

I guess Indy was right. The guy was probably the second best overall DE in the league right now behind Peppers. He is probably the best pass rusher, period.

freeney was considered as a reach at the time. he was not supposed to go until 20 something into the first round.

Freeney was not considered a top ten pick in fact, many thought it was a reach because of his size. Some even projected him to go in the second round.

I guessed late first round but he has certainly proven himself to be worth the 11th pick that is for sure.
