Here is my evaluation of the Cowboys:

Elite players (comparable to the best at their position)
Julius Jones, Whitten, Roy Williams

Above average players (currently not superstars but solid contributers who could play on almost any team)
Keyshawn Johnson, Ellis, Glenn, Larry Allen, Glover, Newman, Nguyen, Adams, Dan Campbell

Mediocre/below average players now, but with upside
Crayton, Al Johnson, Frazier, Morgan, Shanle, Vollers, Copper, James, Thornton, Reeves, N. Jones

Mediocre players with no upside (what you see if what you get)
Coakley, Testeverde, Barnes, Walter, Tucker, Anderson, Ogbagu, Carson, O'Neil, Davis

Below average players with no upside
Scott, Dixon, Wiley, George, Randall Williams, Gurode, Coleman

Unknown quantities
Jacob Rogers, Romo, Henson, Ryan, Claybrooks, Fowler, others

This is not a top-heavy list. Compared with, say 1995, when Dallas had many elite players.

Your list is pretty much right on, However, I think a lotta teams lists would look like ours except the real Elite: Pitt, Philly, N.E..

I wouldn't call johnson bad. He might have been our best lineman all year. That was a great draft pick...

Very good post. I agree with just about everything. Nguyen, God bless him, lost a lot of value - any LB needs the DL to pull in blocks, but Nguyen just gets blasted and has lost his ability to be a sure tackler.

I have very high hopes for Crayton - after seeing him in training camp, I have been expecting him to make a stake on this team.

I would place Keith Davis on the mediocre with upside...for the life of me, I can't figure out why he isn't playing yet...unless they plan on moving Roy to SS and Keith to FS.

You think Jones is already comparable to the best at his position?

Especially considering this was his rookie year(due to his injury).
