Look for Vinny to be our starter again next year. He HAS to play one more season. He's only 22 or 23 INT's short of the all-time record.
C'mon guys we need to support Vinny in his quest to be greatest of all-time at his devine destiny.
If/when Vinny achieves this incredible milestone next year, his 18th, he'll have accomplished this amazing feat in 8 fewer seasons than the man that currently holds the crown. (George Blanda)
So I say, have a heart fella's. And let's cheer on our fearless leader thru just one more season of unprecidented greatness.

Dan, if I remember correctly, you once predicted that whoever replaced Carter as our starter would have a much higher QB rating. Did that occur this year?

I'll tell you though at points this season I could almost agree with this fellow Dan...stomaching some of the games this year, I'd swear VT tries to throw ints. I mean you'd think after 18 years you'd be almost mistake free and seen everything. But he's just not fit to be a winning NFL QB in my opinion...turns it over too much. Had a couple good NFL seasons and some great college ones.

if vinny can get a reasonable amount of protection, his receivers back healthy, and has julius to keep the pressure off the passing game - he can keep us competitive until henson is ready. without those things.... i feel sorry for henson when he IS ready. go ahead and compare testaverde to blanda. i remember HIM - albeit in the twilight of his career. george was kinda the "grand old man of football" at the time. vinny would probably be honored.

I never said "much" higher, just higher. And yes, despite the fact that VT sucked, he had a better QB rating than QC did last year.
Thank you for remembering.

Thank you for remembering.Dan, after Quincy's 21 Ints last season, you were really going out on a limb there with that prediction, weren't you? ;)

Vinny's NFL winning percentage is .410
So you are correct in you assessment sir.

Actually, I believe you claimed something like 10 points higher when you were pinned down.
As an aside, how much are you paying Torres over there to pimp you for reinstatement?

On a serious note. I hate the fact that Blanda retired after 1975, and the Raiders won the Superbowl the next year.
Think about it, he coulda been the only man in history to be in the NFL during 2 Eagles NFL titles, and win a superbowl.
Sad, just sad.

I don't recall putting an exact number on it. But if I did say 10 points higher, then I was wrong. My bad.
Also, I haven't even looked at the DMN forum in months. I can't believe Torres is still carrying that torch. If Torres wants to continue to discuss with me, he know's where I'm at.

so what happens when the boys have everyone back healthy(glenn&campbell),get their defense fixed through the draft & free agency, julius plays all 16 games and vinmaster puts up decent numbers with a soft schedule and we make the playoffs next year will then be saying the same negativethings about him!shouldnt we as fans be supporting our players no matter what? :toast2:

Year Team G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate
Carter 2004 New York Jets 7 3 58 35 60.3 498 8.59 69 3 1 12/70 4 3 98.2
Hutch 2004 Chicago Bears 5 5 161 92 57.1 903 5.61 63 4 3 23/160 8 2 73.6
Vinny 2004 Dallas Cowboys 16 15 495 297 60.0 3532 7.14 53 17 20 35/186 47 4 76.4
1. Oh, the irony. The only one with an upside down TD/INT ratio is the one we kept.
2. What the stats don't mention (so I will) are Hutch's 8 fumbles. Vinny had 8. Quincy had 2.
Bottom line is we gave up a whiny project and a drug addict for a 42 year old, uh, how about "non-winner". I haven't cut Bill much slack this year, but lets face it, he didn't have a whole lot of cards to play at the QB position.
