Wouldn't we automatically draft ahead of playoff teams--- Minnesota and St. Louis ?? I thought we were slated @ 18 not 20 with Buffalo's pick

According to the NFL website, Buffalo's position is #20. I think that Minnesota or St Louis would have to advance to the Super Bowl for Buffalo to get the #19 spot. I could be wrong, though, LOTS of rumors flying around.

No, we have the 20th pick. Teams stay in order by record, except for the two teams in the Super Bowl.

Basically we have the 20th pick. If Minnesota or St. Louis make it to the Super Bowl, we move up one spot.
Plan on #20.

I swore the 12 playoff teams were automatically picks 21 thru 32? I thought Playoffs was a seperator regardless of record?

O.k but certainly this may change based upon what happens in the playoffs-- the one and done teams will pick ahead of the conference championship teams..

Only if they have an equal or worse record. For example, if Philadelphia loses its first playoff game and Minnesota makes it to the NFC title game before losing, the Vikings still would pick 18th or 19th, and the Eagles still would pick no earlier than 28th.
Teams do not leave their "segment" (all teams with the same record) unless they go to the Super Bowl.

a good reason for wild card teams to win if they make it to the superbowl. otherwise, superbowl hangover AND plummeting draft seed.
