Professional golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol just reported.
Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.
Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said. No other information about his condition has been released.
A Health Central hospital employee said at 2:30 p.m. that Woods was not a patient. A hospital operator would not say if Woods had been treated and released.
FHP said the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph.
Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m. Woods was transported from his Windermere-area neighborhood by the hospital's own ambulance.
FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 p.m. today. The agency said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

I just read that he is in "very serious" condition and another story said he had some face lacerations.
Here is one story:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,577325,00.html
Golf great Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident in Florida early Friday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Woods, 33, is in the hospital in very serious condition after a single-car crash at 2:25 a.m. in which he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree, according to the FHP.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, but the crash was not alcohol-related, the highway patrol said in its accident report. It wasn't known if he was wearing a seatbelt.
Woods pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community when he struck the hydrant. He then plowed into the tree on his neighbor's property. He was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.
Woods was apparently traveling under 33 mph because the Cadillac Escalade's airbags didn't inflate, the FHP said.
The golf champion was gearing up for his fifth Chevron World Challenge title. The $5.75 million tournament is scheduled for Dec. 1-6.
"It should be an exciting week for the fans, and I'm looking forward to competing," Woods said in a Nov. 25 article about the event on his Web site.

WINDERMERE, Fla. -- WESH 2 News has learned that golfer Tiger Woods was injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside his Isleworth home early on Friday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was injured in the crash, which took place at about 2:30 a.m., and was taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.
A source told WESH 2 News that Woods has been treated for facial lacerations.
Woods was driving a 2009 black Cadillac Escalade when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant outside his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home, FHP said.
FHP said the crash is still under investigation. It said alcohol did not play a role in the crash, but that charges are pending.
Woods lives with his wife, supermodel Elin Nordegren, and two children.

I don't think your reaction was much different from mine. Tiger is an athlete who is viewed not just good, but transcendent in his sport. He's had a squeaky-clean reputation and still has a lot of potential great years ahead. When someone of his stature is impacted by this, we tend to sit up and pay attention. As for our senses of humor, I struggled to find it funny, but I'm not calling anybody out over it. I really hope he's OK.

UPDATE: Looks like tiger is OK...
Golf great Tiger Woods was injured in a car crash in Florida early Friday morning, authorities said.
Woods, 33, was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla. after a single-car crash at 2:25 a.m. in which he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The patrol initially reported that Woods sustained serious injuries, but the hospital said that the golfer was treated and released Friday in good condition.
The wreck is under investigation and charges are pending, but it was not alcohol-related, the highway patrol said in its accident report. It was "unknown" if he was wearing a seatbelt.
According to the report, Woods pulled out of his driveway in his Cadillac SUV in the posh Isleworth community near Orlando when he struck the hydrant. He then plowed into the tree on his neighbor's property. He was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.
Woods was apparently traveling under 33 mph because the Escalade's airbags didn't inflate, the FHP said.
Orange County property records show his home is valued at $2.4 million.

of course the Cyborg isnt hurt. It takes more than a fire hydrant and a tree to defeat golf's version of the Terminator.
they just showed a video of Tiger in the hospital.....he had but one thing to say to the media......."I'll be back"
Yet ANOTHER example of the media overblowing a non-story. They made it sound life-threatening when he simply suffered a few scratches. The media is in such a hurry to be the first to report something yet they forget to get the facts before they release the information.

Report: Wife helped rescue Woods at crash scene
By DOUG FERGUSON
Associated Press
Nov. 27, 2009, 7:47PM
Tiger Woods was injured early Friday when he lost control of his SUV outside his Florida mansion, and a local police chief said Woods’ wife used a golf club to smash out the back window to help get him out.
The world’s No. 1 golfer was treated and released from a hospital in good condition, his spokesman said. The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods’ vehicle hit a fire hydrant and a tree in his neighbor’s yard after he pulled out of his driveway at 2:25 a.m.
Windermere police chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press that officers found the 33-year-old PGA star laying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.
She told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and “came out and broke the back window with a golf club,” he said. “She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground. He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there.”
He said Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and blood in his mouth; officers treated Woods for 10 minutes until an ambulance arrived.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was alone in his 2009 Cadillac when he pulled out of his driveway from his mansion at Isleworth, a gated waterfront community just outside Orlando.
The patrol reported Woods’ injuries as serious, although Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan issued a statement that Woods was treated and released.
The patrol said alcohol was not involved, although the accident remains under investigation and charges could be filed.
Left unanswered was where Woods was going at that hour. Greenspan and agent Mark Steinberg said there would be no comment beyond the short statement of the accident posted on Woods’ Web site.
Saylor said his responding officers did not hear anything about an alleged argument between Woods and his wife.
Woods, coming off a two-week trip to China and Australia earlier this month, is host of the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif., which starts Thursday. He is scheduled to have his press conference Tuesday afternoon at Sherwood Country Club. Steinberg said he did not know if Woods planned to play next week.
The Florida Highway Patrol said tapes of the 911 call won’t be released until they can be reviewed, probably Monday at the earliest.
The accident report was not released until nearly 12 hours after Woods was injured. Patrol spokesman Kim Montes said the accident did not meet the criteria of a serious crash, and the FHP only put out a press release because of inquiries from local media.
Montes said the patrol reports injuries as serious if they require more than minor medical attention.
Air bags in the SUV did not deploy.
Investigators still have not had a chance to speak to Woods, but when they do, “we will ask him everything,” Montes said. “We just haven’t had a chance to do so because he was being medically treated.”
Montes said charges could be filed if there was a clear traffic violation, although troopers still do not know what caused Woods’ SUV to hit the hydrant and the tree.
Woods rarely faces such private scrutiny, even as perhaps the most famous active athlete in the world.
He usually made news only because of what he can do with a golf club. Few other athletes have managed to keep their private lives so guarded, or have a circle of friends so airtight when it comes to life off the course.
His wife was awarded a $183,250 settlement and an apology from an Irish magazine that published a fake nude photo of her, and Woods received a $1.6 million settlement in a lawsuit against the builder of his yacht — named Privacy — for using his name and photos of the boat as promotional material.
Woods is approaching $100 million in career earnings on the PGA Tour, and Forbes magazine reported that combined with endorsements, appearance fees and golf course design, he has become the first athlete to top $1 billion.
Woods’ $2.4 million home is part of an exclusive subdivision near Orlando, a community set on an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and a chain of small lakes. The neighborhood, which is fortified with high brick walls and has its own security force, is home to CEOs and other sports stars such as the NBA’s Shaquille O’Neal.
Woods, who has won 82 times around the world and 14 majors, attended the Stanford-Cal football game last Saturday, where he tossed the coin at the start of the game and was inducted into Stanford’s sports Hall of Fame at halftime.
He won six times this year after missing eight months recovering from reconstructive surgery on his left knee. Even though he failed to win a major, Woods said he considered this a successful year because he did not know how his knee would respond.

We figured there was more to this story. Tiger Woods got into a car wreck around 2:20am Friday morning. He wasn’t ruled as “under the influence,” so what caused him to ram into a fire hydrant less than 30 feet from his driveway?
Sources are reporting that his wife, Elin, got uber pissy with him after that story of the him cheating with some chick hit the net. She scratched his face up after a verbal argument (despite reports originally concluding the scratches came from the accident), he tried to speed away from the house, Elin chased and banged his car down with a golf club, and then the wreck occured. TMZ reports:
We’re told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We’re told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV — but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.
We’re told Woods became “distracted,” thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.
Wow.

By DOUG FERGUSON

Tiger Woods was injured early Friday when he lost control of his SUV outside his Florida mansion, and a local police chief said Woods’ wife used a golf club to smash out the back window to help get him out.
OK, now I've got all the facts, I think I've figured this whole scenario out:
Elin finds about the National Enquirer report that Tiger's having an affair, and chases him out of the house, brandishing his new thousand dollar Sasquatch driver... Tiger jumps into his Escalade and roars out of the driveway, trying to get to safety, and runs over the fire hydrant and hits the tree...
Elin runs up to the Escalade, and still pissed, smashes in the back window with the Sasquatch... she then pulls a semi-conscious Tiger from the wreck, and whacks him a few more times with the Sasquatch, until she realizes he's not feeling it any more...
The cops arrive on the scene just after she finishes clubbing Tiger senseless, and sweetly tells them that she just pulled him out, using the club to break in the window... Tiger is still too out of it to tell them the truth (which is why she kept the cops from talking to him when they got back home later that day)...
Yeah, that had to be how it happened... it's just a good thing for Tiger that she couldn't figure out how to start the chainsaw...
:chainsaw: :eekmouse: :whip: :splat:
And the moral to the story-- NEVER piss off a Swedish nanny...

This shouldn’t come as a shock since I have been hinted about it the whole evening on twitter but I knew as early as about 5pm that the story circulating about the accident was totally false and while only the police can confirm this (and that may or may not happen) here is what happened.
Tiger Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren was upset about a National Enquirer report that Tiger has been breaking lamps with this young lady Rachel Uchitel.
Because he is Tiger Woods besides some gossip sites it wasn’t much of a story.
http://blacksportsonline.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/rachel-uchitel.jpg (http://blacksportsonline.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/rachel-uchitel.jpg)
This escalated into a fight last night where according to TMZ as well as my sources Mrs. Nordegren physically assaulted Tiger and that is what caused the original lacerations to his face.
As Tiger tried to leave the premises Mrs. Nordegren followed him out with a golf club and repeatedly struck his vehicle, denting it in several places and breaking out the rear window.
Tiger distracted by his crazed wife hit the fire hydrant and tree at a very slow rate of speed. Since the tree was in a neighbor’s yard and realizing the image hit he would take about the “domestic incident” the story of an accident was put in motion.
It would have been impossible for the following things to happen:
1- Mrs. Nordegren to hear the accident from inside the house
Tiger lives in a fortress and at the low rate of speed he was going it would have been impossible for her to hear him hit anything.
2- No one breaks out the back window to save someone.
He wasn’t going fast enough for the air bags to deploy, but he was in such serious danger Mrs. Nordegren who wasn’t the biggest young lady in the world broke the back window and drugged Tiger out of the back.
Also if you am trying to save someone wouldn’t you break the passenger window?
Lastly Tiger was conscious couldn’t have he just opened the door?
Anyone with an IQ of more than 60 knew from the beginning what was being reported just logically couldn’t be true.
3- If Tiger wasn’t passed out drunk or high what made him swerve?
Driving alone at low rate of speed Tiger just randomly hits a fire hydrant and tree? Really?
As I have stated I don’t care who Tiger Woods is sleeping with or that his wife was trying to go Phil Mickelson on his head.
What I do care about is a cover up of criminal activity. My advice to Tiger just tell the truth. He isn’t going to press charges so no need to lie because believe me if he lies the story will become a lot bigger than it is right now.
Every man in America has had a fight like this with his wife or significant other. It isn’t a big deal. I know he is Tiger Woods and has this pristine image, but like Allen Iverson (before he retired of course) said:
“Everyone has dirt under their fingernails.”
If Tiger lies, people are going to find out and it will hurt his image much more than telling the truth. Trust me on that.

Now obviously the most important question is what club was she using? I mean, when you are bashing in the car window of your cheatin' husband, do you go with the 7-wood or the 9-iron? :D

Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren -- according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident.

Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.
We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.tmz.com/media/2009/11/1127_tiger_woods_mini_photo_launch_template.jpg (http://photos.tmz.com/galleries/tiger_woods)We're told Woods became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.
We're also told Woods had said during the conversation Friday he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene.

when I 1st heard she smashed the back window to rescue him I called bs. I knew something was up. but anyways this crap belongs in the other sports section.Well the whole story stunk from the get-go. When I first heard he hit a hydrant in his own neighborhood at 3 in the morning my first reaction was that he was probably drunk. But the police vehemently denied alcohol was involved. Then when I heard his wife was up at the same hour and was there at the scene immediately after it happened, I figured they probably had a fight. But their version of the story stunk because she wouldn't knock out the rear window to try and help him get out of the car when he was driving - plus what the heck was she doing with a club in her hand. I figured maybe the accident was worse then they were letting on or maybe he hit the hydrant while backing out of the driveway or something like that but I couldn't figure out the club.
I hate to say it, but the TMZ version of the story is far and away the most plausible. It easily makes way more sense than anything we've heard from the Woods camp.

Because I gotta tell ya, I think the Enquirer has some pretty damning evidence against Woods. If your woman was coming after you with your own golf clubs what would you do?
Do you defend yourself and hit back? Run to your car and try to get away? That's what you gotta do. My STBX went ballistic on me one day and then stood in the doorway and refused to let me leave the room. She was trying to goad me into a physical confrontation (or, I should say, get me to physically respond to her physical confrontation) but I just refused because I know she can do whatever the heck she wants but the second I lay a finger on her then I am the one who goes to jail. Oh, don't get me wrong... I could have easily removed her from the doorway in about 2 seconds... but like I said, then I am the one who goes to jail if that happened.
Tiger may be a cheatin' hubby, but I think he was doing 100% the right thing Friday morning by simply trying to get the heck out of Dodge. Personally, I think she should be the one to spend an evening in jail because if the genders were reversed, that's exactly what would have happened.

I refuse to judge these athletes too harshly because I will never ever know the level of temptation they face on a regular basis. I'm just a regular guy and girls don't give me a second glance so there is really no temptation. But I don't think any of us can truly, honestly say we know how we would behave if we had ultra-hot women throwing themselves at us by the truckload 24/7 everywhere we went.

:hammer: Pretty ridiculous & extremely pathetic.Maybe it's just me, but when you're a celebrity like Tiger Woods, I'm sure he and Elin are used to rumors and false stories being written about them.
I can't imagine the wife going ape**** over the article unless there was some measure of truth to it. Italso doesn't make her a crack ho for being pissed about it. Any normal person would have have the same reaction.
Until this accident, I never even knew about this "affair" but I don't put anything past any celebrity. Male or female. Tiger Woods is one step away from being a billionaire. He's young and attractive. He could sneeze and some woman would drop her panties for him.

Any normal person would have have the same reaction. That's how I feel too. If this story appeared in the Enquirer, and Tiger and the Missus went on with life as normal, then I would think it was probably a load of crap. But the fact that she (allegedly) went nutty over the whole thing makes me think there could very likely be some truth behind it. She has, in a certain sense, legitimatized the story by her conduct. Now I ain't saying every single detail is true, but the basic "did he or didn't he cheat on her?" question doesn't look so good.
If it turns out that the Enquirer story is completely false, then she really has some serious issues. But my impression is that she probably has reason to believe it isn't false. For all we know, she has caught him with his hand in the cookie jar already but without it going public.
Of course the longer Tiger sits there hiding in his house, the worse things look.

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.
This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.
This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.
The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.
This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

This doesn't apply when there is an injury in an auto accident. Why do you think FHP is seeking a warrant to speak to him and his wife? There has to be a police report if there is injury.

Where is his tournament played? Does he have to get there by plane? I have heard that guys with concussions or some types of head trauma are better off not traveling by air for some time after they suffer their injury. His excuse is plausible if there is air travel involved even if you don't believe it is probable. And it looks like we have someone interested in some prime Florida swampland! I can start you at $10,000 an acre. Just let me know how much you want. I accept cash only, please.

Actually, it always applies (at least by law, it should, being the Constitution/supreme law).
5th amendment trumps all police, and spanks their bums as a display of dominance. Also protects the spouse.
The police can do all the investigating that they want, but they can't compel Tiger or his wife to speak a single word, beyond simple identifying info (whatever Florida state law is, like name).

Just about every "legal" expert talking head has said the same thing: the cops have no cause for doing anything unless someone signs a complaint. There is not going to be any search warrant or anything like that. There is not going to be a grand jury since the local DA wants to run for office (just like most of them do) and he knows that Tiger is VERY popular and he would lose a lot of votes if he tried anything.

Sure, someone accused of a crime can certainly plead the 5th, but in some states a spouse can be compelled to testify when domestic violence is involved. This is because of all the times a woman is a victim of domestic violence and then refuses to say anything. However, I don't know the laws in Florida so I don't know if this applies there.

It all gets back to the fact that laws are different when it comes to domestic violence because it is often difficult to get an abused spouse to formally file a complaint. In many states, domestic violence has its own separate set of laws for precisely that reason.

It's true. Here in NM, if an officer is called in on a domestic violence deal, the offender automatically get arrested and goes to jail. The person who called it in doesn't have to want to press charges or even testify against the offender. The officer has the authority to investigate and arrest once they respond regardless.

Through this line of work, she ended up meeting Tiger and he took a liking to her and started flying her out to various tournaments he was playing at for some quality time together.
This was years ago, of course, long before he was married, but I think it kinda speaks to the fact that despite his squeaky clean image, he does have a bit of a wild side when it comes to the ladies.
Mostly I just like telling this story because I think it's cool that I dated the same girl as Tiger Woods! :D

BTW, that scenario is under the court's playground, which is basically the law, not the police, which are not. Police do not have anywhere near the power that a court does.No no no... I am not talking about self-incrimination. I agree that no individual accused of a crime can be forced to speak, either to the police or in court. I am talking about some states where in cases of domestic violence, a spouse can be forced to testify against his/her abusive husband/wife even without wanting to file charges. These laws are in place because of the number of abused spouses who do not want to testify against their spouse.
I don't know if Florida is one such state and it is a moot point because the police have let the whole matter drop. But if there was probable cause to investigate domestic violence, then in some states the victim cannot legally plead the fifth or exercise the right to remain silent. So there is a chance that if the police had probable cause to believe Elin beat Tiger senseless over the head with a golf club, then they very well could have forced an interview with him as a victim of domestic violence - not as the one accused of the crime.

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.
Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.
Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult. I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

Tiger Admits He Let His Family Down
Posted Dec 02, 2009 10:12 AM
By DOUG FERGUSON
(AP)
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Dec. 2) - Tiger Woods said he let his family down with transgressions he regrets "with all of my heart," and that he will deal with his personal life behind closed doors.
His statement Wednesday follows a cover story in Us Weekly magazine that reports a Los Angeles cocktail waitress claims she had a 31-month affair with the world's No. 1 golfer.
"I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves," Woods said on his Web site . "I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone."
The cocktail waitress, Jaimee Grubbs, told the magazine she met Woods at a Las Vegas nightclub the week after the 2007 Masters - two months before Woods' wife, Elin, gave birth to their first child. Grubbs claims to have proof in 300 text messages.
About three hours before Woods' statement, the magazine published what it said was a voicemail - provided by Grubbs - that Woods left her phone on Nov. 24, three days before his middle-of-the-night car crash outside his home in Florida.
Woods did not offer details of any alleged relationship.
"I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves," Woods said. "For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology."
Woods has been subjected to more media scrutiny over the last week than when he first won the Masters in 1997 and set off the first wave of Tigermania. He has spoken only three times through his Web site, although this was his longest posting.
"Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means," Woods said. "For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives.
And he continued to say accounts that physical violence played a role in his Friday morning car crash were "utterly false and malicious."
"Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect," he wrote.
His statement came one day after the Florida Highway Patrol closed its investigation into the accident - without Woods ever speaking to state troopers. He was charged with careless driving, which carries a $164 fine and four points on his driving record.
The story soon shifted from a patrol investigation to sordid allegations into his personal life.
In the voicemail released by the magazine, a man says to Grubbs:
"Hey, it's, uh, it's Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favor. Um, can you please, uh, take your name off your phone. My wife went through my phone. And, uh, may be calling you. If you can, please take your name off that and, um, and what do you call it just have it as a number on the voicemail, just have it as your telephone number. That's it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye."
The Associated Press could not confirm Woods was the caller.

Seriously, I was on the phone with a guy earlier and he refused to believe Tiger was guilty. That the women were just trying to do a money grab.
He hadn't heard any of the audio nor seen the press release. He kept saying, with all the technology out there, the audio could've been faked...that he would need DNA and video for him to believe it.
So while we're on the phone, he's watching some sports show and they play the audio, and read the statement.
So my guy friend then switches up and blames Elin. Said it was her fault for not taking care of her wifely duties.

The guy is gutless. Mr. "I'm not afraid of anything" is too chicken-bleep to even slither out of his own house for his own charity golf tournament. Every golfer at that tourney is being asked about Tiger and he can't even man up by showing his face. He'll just sit back and let other golfers (golfers who were doing him a favor by going to the charity tournament) face the press on their own.

The greater the disparity between his education/income/station in life and theirs, the greater the risk. Were he dating a Fortune 500 exec or a married woman with a family of her own, he would have been much less susceptible to blackmail or breaches of confidentiality. Believe it or not, skanks, hos and fame-chasers are not known for their discretion. They'll eagerly/greedily sell their stories to the tabs and talk shows because they have no reputations to preserve. Unlike Tiger, who could lose his family and a number of endorsement deals, they lose nothing. This is a boon to them, not a burden or career changer.

Sounds as if your friend has a fantasy of being there to watch Tiger having sex. That is a dedicated fan.
It is possible that one or all of these women that have come forward are lying. That doesn't change the fact that Tiger has admitted to doing something in his statement. That essentially is Tiger's admission that there was some fire to the smoke that was circulating earlier in the week.

apparently the golfer who hitched the 2 up is upset about it
A few days ago, we told you how in 2001, golfer Jesper Parnevik and his wife introduced their nanny, Elin Nordegren, to an up-and-coming young go-getter by the name of Tiger Woods. With all the revelations of late, seems Jesper isn't particularly happy with how Tiger has handled his marriage.
"I feel really sorry for Elin," he told The Golf Channel on Wednesday. "I would be especially sad about it since I'm kind of ... I really feel sorry for Elin, since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him. We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of the 3-iron."
Parnevik noted the privacy issue at the heart of the story, but understands that the rules are different for Tiger ... and not always in his favor: "It's a private thing, of course. But when you are the guy he is, the world's best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff. . . And maybe not just do it, like Nike says." (Click here for edited video.)
Parnevik clearly is personally wounded by Woods' "transgressions," so it's understandable that he'd tee off on Tiger. It's not likely we'll see other golfers criticize Woods openly; why would they? Most of Woods' fellow players, as noted here, have expressed support for Elin and her children, regret that Woods made poor choices, and hope that the Woods family will be able to get past this drama. Most have noted the microscope that all celebrities live under; left unsaid was the point that perhaps one ought to remember that microscope doesn't just focus on good behavior.
So far, Woods' sponsors have continued to express support, either explicitly or tacitly, and it's in that fashion that Woods will be able to continue to rehabilitate his image. No matter what happens next, it's likely that we won't be seeing ads that can be in any way mocked or misinterpreted, like Accenture's "The road to high performance isn't always paved" campaign.

It always makes me laugh when anyone is at all surprised by these type of things. I can't help but laugh anytime anyone is geniunely surprised when an athlete is found to be a cheater.
I even laugh that much more when people feel sorry for the women they cheat on and act like those women didn't know, right from the get go, that there was a great shot of that happening to them.
If you marry a celebrity, be it an athlete, actor, actress, rock star, whatever the case then you'd better be prepared to one day be in the news for being cheated on. Its a regular occurence for people in those positions because they've got so many oppurtunities to cheat.
I'm not saying it's right, or that he's not a real jerk for doing it, but I'm not at all shocked by it and i just find it funny that anyone, including his wife, is surprised by it.

From a gossip site
And Tiger Woods‘ mistress Rachel U. has cancelled the huge press conference she and her lawyer Gloria Allred called today. Word has it Rachel spoke with Tiger last night and may have come to a “keep quiet” monetary deal. Wow.
Meanwhile, Tiger and his wife Elin have reworked their pre-nup agreement this week. Originally, Elin had to stay with Tiger for 10 years to get $20 million. Now reports say that window of time has closed to 2 years (which she’s already done) and she stands to get up to $300 mill. Now THAT is the biggest come up of the damn decade. She’s outshining Juanita Jordan’s $150 mill…

Details of Elin Woods' newly-rewritten prenup emerge
By Jay Busbee
Elin and Tiger Woods had a prenuptual agreement, as expected. The couple is undergoing marital counseling, as you'd also expect. And now The Daily Beast is reporting that Elin Woods is renegotiating that prenup to get an immediate $5 million payout from her husband and as much as $55 million more to stay with him for two more years.
The initial prenup was worth $20 million after 10 years of marriage. However, the Chicago Sun-Times' Bill Zwecker has reported that Elin Woods will receive an immediate payment "into an account she alone controls," and that the 10-year timeframe -- which began when they married in 2004 -- has been shortened and the value increased "substantially."
The Daily Beast quotes "a lawyer familiar with the couple's negotiations" in reporting that the term of the prenup has been shortened to seven years, and that a series of staggered payments could increase the total value to $75 million.
But apparently there's also a behavioral component to all this: Elin Woods must "be a dutiful wife in showing up with him at social events and in public as if they were still the perfect couple, and sign a nondisclosure form that will prevent her from ever telling her story."
It's important to note that to date, there's no concrete evidence that Elin Woods has ever been anything but the perfectly dutiful golf wife. I'm sure the Woodses would like nothing more than to portray domestic calm to the world, and Elin Woods now apparently has several million more reasons to do just that.
