Right now Kiper has Smith rated #4 overall, I think. We'd have to give up both firsts to trade up for him in all likelihood.

wouldnt it make more sense to get the highly talented guy we already have here ready to play instead of drafting another crap shoot?

Of the top 11 teams, how many need a QB? 3, arguably 4. Now, what are the chances of all 4 drafting a QB? Not so great.
