Was just looking at IMDB and they are remaking The Karate Kid.

Hopefully we get some remakes of some of the 80s music.

Wax on, wax off.
Your 80's card has been revoked!!!
;)
It actually looks cute! I wouldn't see it in the theater, but I'd Netflix it.

They where suppose to be changing it to the Kung Fu Kid since he is doing Kungfu and not karate

After I watched Karate Kid 2 in the theaters I took a flier that was by the concessions and took karate. I was good. I won first place in my second tournament. Its too bad I quit.

I heard/read that too....but this is the trailer and karate is still in the title. I bet the reference will be the stupid kid will call it karate and say he's a karate kid and miagi will say no, it's kung fu. So it'll be more like a joke reference than a literal one.

Here's hoping Elizabeth Shue isn't as fat this time.

As soon as I saw the trailer I was appalled. I still am but my biggest problem with it is not that it looks like a crappy movie.. it could be alright, but the name of the movie is horrible.
A remake should be a remake, not a movie with a similar scenario.. Why did they have to call it Karate Kid? that's just epic failure. Makes me sad.

Yeah, I agree this movie is going to suck.
The only redeeming quality seems to be that Taraji P. Henson is in it.

I think every kid that grew up in the 80s took some sort of martial arts, its like our right of passage.
Martial arts were huge in the 80s. We watched karate kid, played karate champ in the arcade and watched bruce lee become a huge hero in the 80s.
Me personally, I took tae kwon do, I had to quit when I was almost 14 because it was becoming a 4 day a week thing and was getting in the way of baseball. I finished with a blue belt with a red stripe. A part of me wishes I stuck it out and got a black belt.....I am going to take again in the future when my son is a little older....
oh and this trailer makes this movie look unwatchable.

I remember in middle school talent shows, kids would get on stage and do just a bunch of karate moves.
It was hilarious. But, yes, I took karate as well.

I took Karate too and since I was the biggest kid my age I always had to fight the older kids and I used to get my butt kicked.

Martial Arts were much bigger in the 70s then in the 80s IMO. Bruce Lee was huge but he was huge in the 70s. He died in 1973, unless you are speaking of Brandon Lee, Son of Bruce Lee, who I believe was acting in the the 80s.

No I am talking about the 80s. IN my circle bruce lee exploded. Video games, movies magazines and other stuff. He seemed to be everywhere.
Brandon was in the crow which was great in the early 90s!
It was like he was being honored in the 80s. Martial arts seemingly influenced everything there for awhile.

I don't know if you remember the 70s Theebs but Bruce Lee was huge in the 70s. I remember more Chuck Norris in the 80s but I'm sure it was different just depending on where you might have been at the time.
