If Campbell were to get released by the redskins new coach would it be worth signing him to a backup spot ? Would he get looks from other teams. If you check out his stats they pretty decent. Kitna is old and hasn't thrown a ball in forever and was basically an insurance policy this year. What are your thoughts ?

Is the OP the same person that asked about Zorn coming here as well?
Good grief...
I would say yes. If he can be had for the right price.
That won't happen though, he is going to go to a team where he has a chance to win the starting position, if not stay in DC.

I don't think he's all that bad but I wouldn't go after him.
Not sure but I think I remember hearing that he hasn't been in the same system for more than a year since high school.
I think he could be a decent player if given some stability.

Well maybe NEVE Campbell :)
Honestly, I wouldn't mind holding onto Campbell for 2 years while the line gets rebuilt and a successor is groomed.
He is never going to be an elite QB...but he's far from terrible. He's not Jamarcus Russell, Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn.
His numbers this year are similar to Carson Palmer's.

Not if I expected us to win a game. He looks so lost out there, have you seen him play?

Hes better than Eli Manning, if he'll come for a Kitna sort of salary, why not?

Don't we already have a backup QB?
Kitna > Campbell
No thanks.

Why Not...
The Guy`s young enough, but he`s been held back by the systems that he`s`played in but he`s got plenty of talent..IF he can be had for 5-6 mil to backup Romo, with our weapons, why the heck not..Jerruh can make it happen.

Hell yes, he can be halftime entertainment, he can sing while the cheerleaders dance......He sure would cost less than his rich imposter, Lionel Richie.....

I pray that he stays on that team. As long as he's there, the Skins have no shot.

Not only no, but hell no...
Campbell has gotten to a point where the only thing he can do is dump the ball off... the Skins took the wraps off of him to a certain extent this year, and suddenly he started chucking up the ints (which he did very rarely early in his career)... so by season's end, he was back to throwing mostly dump stuff... I even said before the Skins-Cowboys game in Washington that all the Boys needed to do was practice defending the screen pass...
When the Skins had a long gain on a pass play this season, it seemed like it was almost always a short pass that the receiver turned into a big gain...
Another big negative is the frequency with which he fumbles when sacked... he simply turns the ball over WAY too often...
I'll pass on Campbell... I'd rather see how McGee develops...

Campbell is in the wrong offense. I would consider signing Campbell. He's young, he's mobile, he has a good arm and he understands how to take care of the ball. His problem, IMO, is that he's playing in a bad offense and he has had no consistancy in any offense since he's entered the NFL. If you just ask him to manage a game and don't make mistakes, he can do that. If you ask him to go out and win games for you, he can't do that. At least, not yet. I would give him a look if we needed a backup.
