Talked about the Cowboys

Thought COwboys might be looking to
Shawn Merriman OLB w/ the 11th pick.
Possibly Troy Williamson WR w/ the 20th pick.

Any thoughts?

Williamson MAY be around in the 2nd...

He is a VERY underrated player... so he could slip through the cracks...

Jeez, I hope we don't use a #11 pick on a LB.

Saw Williamson play this year. He's a real burner who could develop into a dominant receiver with good coaching.

He won't fall once he runs the 40 at the combine. I'm not sure he will last to 20. He's a real burner.

Sadly...its been awhile since a WR has been developed under the current staff :(

Merriman will end up at DE eventually...

We will have interest in him... especially if we move to the 3-4...

This kid is still pretty young so he is going to get bigger...

i don't care where it comes from, i don't care how we get it, i don't care what it costs - if we can't find a way to pressure opposing QBs, all the secondary help in the world wont make a difference.
a dominant NT type or speed rusher from the DE spot is what we need on defense - whichever we can't acquire thru FA. as for offense i have no problems with a WR if he can run routes and has good hands. speed should be the last concern - look at randall williams - he of the 4.04 forty...

While we need the best impact players...

We could draft "LT" in his prime and he would be a bust if zimmy WUSS is retained...

The #1 offseason priority is still getting a real qualified DC!

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will happen

Mel Compared Merriman to Willie McGinest. I agree that we almost have to address the defensive line in the first round. Isn't the receiver class this year supposed to be deep?

How would you guys/gals compare Merriman to Tuck, the DE from ND? I'm assuming Tuck is 100% healthy.

Merriman is a very good player, he is not #11 good though.

I have gone to every Terps game for the last 5 years. Merriman does dominate at times, but when Hendersen was at MD he dominated every game.

I would not mind Merriman at #20 or a little later but not at #11, especially if DJ is on the board.

we need lb's - we have the worst non playmaking linebackers in the league- they arent fast anymore- they arent big and they arent playmakers- if I was the gm of this team I would try to get derrick johnson and shawn merriman in the first round- if not I would look at justin tuck from nd or channing crowder after trading down.Jeez, I hope we don't use a #11 pick on a LB.

merriman is more of 3-4 lb than tuck- tuck is more of an end.How would you guys/gals compare Merriman to Tuck, the DE from ND? I'm assuming Tuck is 100% healthy.

I should have known that since I root for them since Holtz was there. The name rings a bell now that you mentioned that.

If Williamson burns up the combine and doesn't show an awful set of hands or a positive drug test, he'll likely go in the first round. Guys like Donte Stallworth were drafted on physical measurables. It's just the way the NFL works.

I can't comment much on Williamson's ability because I haven't seen him play. I am by nature a little leery of guys who didn't produce a lot in college as first rounders. If Dallas could trade down a few spots and land him, I'd feel much better. I was thrilled at the trade down last year.
