I love hearing a Redskins fan cry about all the times Staubach tormented him by beating the Skins, lol.

I doubt the football writers take those fan votes into consideration to the point that they make a difference on someone getting in or not. Most fans that would be voting on there are only doing so for the guys who played on their favorite team.

Does Ed Jones deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?

He was a 3 time Pro Bowler and one time All Pro. Was a starter for just about all of his 13 year career and finished with 57.5 sacks. Had 19 fumble recoveries and 3 INT's as well.

I say he's a borderline Hall of Famer.

Agreed on borderline. If he were a player from another team, say Pittsburgh, and got in with those stats we'd cry foul.

Too Tall redirected about 1000 passes and freed up linebackers because he controled about 3 gaps--since he did not get sacks and dance around on the filed, he probably won't get in

You are absolutely right! QB's rarely threw short passes to the right! He also took a year off to try out boxing which he loved but he was just too big and clumsy (saw a couple of his fights on TV). Cannot remember if he played on special teams but I would think he would be a force on defense on a field goal situation w/today's sidewinders...............imagine a 6'9" giant in the middle of the line.............wow:D

Since much of his career was played before the NFL made sacks an official stat his 57.5 sacks does not look too impressive; however, he really had 106 sacks during his career.

Those 106 sacks is comparable to others DEs that have been elected to the HoF. Lee Roy Selmon(78 1/2 sacks), Elvin Bethea(105 sacks), Howie Long(91 1/2 sacks) and Fred Dean(100 sacks) are all in the HoF.

I am not pushing for Too Tall to be in, but it would not be outrageous to consider it.

Ed Jones was a much better DE than Fred Dean who was strictly a pass rusher. His ability to bat down passes and force QBs to throw away from him make him a more productive player than Dean.

You are right, but the problem is that if he played for the Steelers he would have ben in a long time ago.

Harvey Martin not being in the Hall of Fame is a Travesty.

He should be in the Hall PERIOD.

No i don't either I just hink that the way we over protect these sissy QB's of today that it would be a flag. In no way shape or form would I agree with it but I betcha it would be to close to the head for today.

NFL football has totally changed i would say dramatically changed . There's now way a 40 year old QB ( K.WARNER or the beloved b.FARVE ) would last a season in the NFL of yesteryear. The NFL is protecting and changing the game I personally like the old version maybe because i'm an old fart and dont want to see change to help these players extend there careers. if it was good enough for the ole players then its good enough for todays players who by the way retire with a lot and I mean alot more scratch $$$$$
